After John tells Chiana not to shoot at the parasite, Chiana exclaims, "What did you expect me to use, harsh language?" This is also a reference to the movie "Aliens," when the marines are told not to use their weapons and one of them says a similar line.

Two creatures keep appearing on Moya, one is the Vorc, the other everyone assumes is the parasite, but eventually they come to realize they are both one and the same, the cute Vorc turns into the large monster. John's quote is, "All right, riddle me this. Because we think we may have parasites on board, we get a Vorc, cause someone tells us that Vorcs kill parasites. Now, all of a sudden, this other critter shows up.

This Ewok gone bad, bites D'Argo, poisons him, yeah? So we capture the parasite, and surprise... the parasite and the Vorc are the same thing, but neither one of them is poisonous. So, for ten thousand dollars and the Caribbean Cruise, what poisoned D'Argo?"

John, trying to get Aeryn to talk to the Vorc, tells her, "Why don't we see if we can get the 'Incredible Vorc' here to understand us?"

The Vorc is injected with translator microbes and Aeryn tries to talk to it as if it were simple, telling it slowly, "I'm sorry. I don't want to kill you." John, tells her, "That was terrible! That was... that was... look, Lassie here is trying to communicate with us."

Finally communicating with the Vorc, the Vorc tells them that there's danger on board. Aeryn asks, "There's a parasite on board? Are you the parasite?" John looks at her as if she's crazy and says, "The answer to that is no! Who is going say yes to that? That is no!"

When talking to the Vorc, John warns it that if it tries anything, they'll shoot by saying, "You understand shoot? Little bolts of light, ktaw, ktaw, ktaw....ouch." He delivers the "ouch" like E.T. did in the movie. When he finds Rygel inside a cocoon, he says, "Holy Body Snatchers. Start talking," referencing "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." And Aeryn and John both say at the end when they kill the parasites, "Sorry about the mess." This is a line from Han Solo in "Star Wars: A New Hope" after he shoots Greedo in the cantina. Turner and Hooch is an old Tom Hanks movie about a man and his dog.

John, putting down the corridors of Moya, goes into a Bill Murray from "Caddyshack" routine, saying, "He's a Cinderella Boy...
