Hikitsu and Tomite were the two Genbu-seishis who chose to be left behind in order to guard the shinzaho of Takiko. They were also described as the guardians of ice.

Soi is the Seiryu-seishi who can control the thunder and lightning. Besides controlling thunder and lightning, she has another talent: increasing or decreasing a person's chi through sexual intercourse. Before Nakago discovered that she was a Seiryu-seishi, her mother sold her and she was forced to have sex with the customers at a young age.

Answer: Takiko

Takiko was the first priestess to enter the book. Her father was a translator and got the ancient book during a trip to China. Before she entered the universe of the four gods, she had a crush on Takao Osugi, her father's assistant. Takao Osugi, on the other hand, has a daughter named Suzuno Osugi who became the priestess of Byakko and Takiko's close friend.

Suzuno, the second priestess to enter the book, was a friend of Takiko. She fell in love with her seishi, Tatara, but Byakko never allowed them to be together. They died at the exact moment and were reunited in heaven. She was never able to make her third wish. Tetsuya and Keisuke were at her side together with her grandson on her deathbed.

Answer: Einosuke Okuda

Einosuke Okuda is Takiko's father. He was totally engrossed with the ancient book for an unknown reason. His wife is terribly sick and Takiko is angry at him for not taking care of her mother. She got the book and she was sucked into it. By the time Takiko got back to the real world, her father killed her because Genbu followed her and started devouring her from the inside.

Answer: Sairou

Sairou's guardian deity is Byakko. Suzuno Osugi is the priestess of Byakko. Byakko is the guardian of the West. It takes the form of a white tiger and is white in color. There's a large temple halfway up a mountain where you can look out over the subjects everywhere. It's near the Hokkan's southern desert. Near the border is Makan Village. Its population is approximately 800,000 to 900,000.

Answer: Konan

Konan is the place where the lord of the south, the red bird, Suzaku, is worshiped. Miaka Yuki, the protagonist of the anime, is the Suzaku no miko. Konan's capitol is Eiyou. According to "The Universe of the Four Gods", which was given to the first Emperor by Taiitsukun, there's a legend that "When the country is on the brink of destruction, a girl from another world will appear in order to acquire the divine power of Suzaku.

The girl that obtains the power of Suzaku shall guide the country with that power." Presently the 4th Emperor, Saihitei (Hotohori) rules Konan but the powerful neighboring country, Kutou, is threatening it. Tamahome's village is near the Kutou border.

Answer: Hokkan

Hokkan is the place of Genbu, the black tortoise. Takiko Okuda is the priestess of Genbu. Genbu is the guardian of the North. It takes the form of a snake and a turtle mating and is black in color. A vast land dotted with only villages and the capitol. Its size is 3 times that of Konan. Their choice of food and way of living are different from Konan. There is a town in the middle of the country called Tokuuran.

Answer: Kutou

Kutou is in the eastern side of the universe of the four gods. Its guardian deity, Seiryuu, is a blue dragon representing the water element. Kutou's population is approximately 1,200,000. It's a large country three times larger than Konan. A powerful country that boasts overwhelming military strength. By conquering the three countries of Kounan, Hokkan, and Sairou, the present Emperor hopes to make a "spot fit for the Four Gods" and take possession of all the four gods' powers and obtain power equal to the creator.

In order to do that, he's having Nakago gather the Seiryuu-seishis.

Answer: Hotohori

Saihitei or Hotohori is the 4th emperor of Konan. At 14, his father, the 3rd emperor, died. That's the reason why he is a serious and sometimes, a cold person. He fell in love with Miaka during childhood, hoping that she would take the loneliness he feels.

Answer: Taiitsukun

Taiitsukun is the controller of the universe of the four gods. Her servants are childlike goddesses. She has the form of an old woman with lots of wrinkles which gave way for the name Sunukake-baba (Sand Witch).

Answer: Houki

Houki is Hotohori's empress. She has purple colored hair and her son's name is Boushin. Miiru is an evil character from the "Fushigi Yuugi" OAV and the same goes for Ren.

Answer: Boushin

Boushin is Hotohori and Houki's son. He was born when Konan was in battle with Kutou. Hotohori died when Houki was delivering Boushin. On the OAV, he was already two years old but he hasn't uttered any word since his birth. This was Miaka and the Suzaku-seishis' mission.
