Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the episode, Marge takes a pregnancy test. What colour comes up, sending her to Dr. Hibbert?

Answer: Pink

Marge isn't too thrilled when Homer brings home Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test, obviously a lesser brand, though Homer's thrilled with the fact that it came with a free pipe. According to the test, 'if the water turns blue, a baby for you; if purple ye see, a baby thar be.' Unfortunately, the test turns pink, so Marge discovers that 'if the test should fail, to a doctor set sail.' She heads to Dr. Hibbert's office because her frequent nausea and cravings for pancake mix have started up, leading her to believe she may be pregnant, test or not.
2. Where did Homer work in the 1980s?

Answer: Mini-golf course

The kids catch on immediately; Homer lies that Marge broke her leg and needs to see the doctor, but the kids quickly deduce that it's another baby on the way (something they're all quite excited about). Homer's not happy though since he'll have to hear Marge's complaints about diaper changes and late night feedings (without doing any of his own, of course). Bart asks if things were this way when he was born, but Homer doesn't think so. To put his mind at ease, he decides to tell the kids a story set back in the '80s when he worked at a mini-golf course and dated Marge...at twenty-four years old.

The kids stop listening really quickly, and Homer's only able to retain Maggie by his side.
3. What movie did Homer and Marge watch on the night of Bart's conception?

Answer: The Empire Strikes Back

Back in the 1980s, Marge was living with Patty and Selma even though they never seemed to approve of their relationship. Things were good though; in love with one another, it didn't seem to matter that Homer was working in a dead end job with little-to-no pay.

The night they saw "The Empire Strikes Back", the two of them drove off listening to their song, "You Light Up My Life" before heading to the mini-golf course. There, in the giant castle prop, the two of them conceived Bart.
4. Which of these did Marge need to wear to work in the 1980s?

Answer: Rollerskates

Homer received a call from Marge while she was at work at the rollerskate diner asking to meet her at Dr. Hibbert's office and, there, the two of them discovered the reason for her recent bouts of morning sickness: Marge was pregnant. That night, Homer tells his father the truth-- he got Marge pregnant-- and Abe is thrilled since he thinks his son can't do much better. Now, as Abe says, he has to insist on getting married; "the fish has jumped into the boat, now all you gotta do is whack it with the oar."
5. Where does Homer propose to Marge?

Answer: In his car

Deciding to go through with the proposal, Homer took Marge up to the Springfield Bluffs in his car and worked up the nerve to ask her the question which, in preparation, he'd written out in speech form on a cue card. When he searched for the card he ended up discovering it fell out of his pocket, though Marge found it, read it, and said yes to the proposal anyways.
By this point in the story, both Bart and Lisa have returned to their father's side to ask questions about the baby...but not listen to the rest.
6. What was the name of the wedding chapel where Homer and Marge got married?

Answer: Shotgun Pete's

While out looking at engagement rings, Homer and Marge decided to choose the name Bart for their unborn baby because, in Homer's mind, the name did not rhyme with anything he could get made fun of with. Shortly after, the pair headed just across the state line to a roadside chapel named Shotgun Pete's with what little money they had, they waited their turn, paid $20, and walked down the aisle.

While it wasn't how Marge pictured her wedding day-- pregnant and under a stained ceiling-- her two minute ceremony was everything she wanted because she had the perfect husband. That night, they spent their first evening as husband and wife...on the couch at Patty and Selma's.
7. Which of these jobs did Homer not have while trying to make ends meet during Marge's pregnancy?

Answer: Pizza delivery boy

Marge, worried that all of the new baby things wouldn't be affordable due to Homer's measly mini-golf salary, got Homer thinking about a new job so he opted to apply at the Springfield Power Plant. Up against the odds (considering his competition for the position consisted of Smithers' former fraternity brothers), Homer didn't get the job.

Instead, he had to resort to less secure positions with different companies including becoming a candlemaker for Olde Springfield Towne, selling knives door-to-door, and being a test dummy for a pitbull attack school.
8. After their belongings are repossessed, Homer leaves Marge in the night without telling her.

Answer: True

Homer and Marge were forced to face their worst fears when the repo men came by after several notices to pick up all of the baby items they'd purchased over the past weeks. The biggest disappointment was losing the wedding ring they'd bought. That night, Homer drafted up a letter for Marge promising to support her and the baby with every penny he made, but she would not see him until he found financial security and, in is words, became a man. Patty, Selma, and Mrs. Bouvier didn't really support Marge in her disappointment.
9. Who finds Homer working at the local Gulp 'n' Blow?

Answer: Patty and Selma

A short while later, Patty and Selma found Homer working at the Gulp 'n' Blow, a local fast food joint, and despite her sister's urgings, Selma decided to tell Marge where he was, leading to a reunion in the drive-thru. Homer, vowing to do his best for her, made a promise the next day to quit the Gulp 'n' Blow, march into the Power Plant, and demand a job from Mr. Burns specifically. Liking his spineless attitude, Mr. Burns gave him the job outright, vowing to remember Homer's name from that day forth.
10. When Marge returns home from Dr. Hibbert's, does she announce that she's pregnant?

Answer: No

Banging on the door to Patty and Selma's, Homer discovered that Marge was already in labour and rushed to the hospital where, to Marge's delight, Homer revealed that he got the job as a nuclear technician. He demanded Patty and Selma's respect and promised to get a house and, shortly after, had the miracle of a healthy baby boy in his hands.
Homer finishes his story for the kids just as Marge gets home with the news: she's not pregnant. He and Marge high five to their good fortune while the kids watch on.
