Jack served as Ben's doctor for a while, removing a spinal tumor and overseeing the beginning of Ben's recovery. Ethan served as Claire's doctor after they kidnapped her when she was still pregnant. What he did to her is not exactly clear, but he was definitely injecting her with something.

The status of the relationship is what gives the answer away here. Jack was married to Sarah, but it didn't last. Likewise, Kate was married to Kevin, but left him when she could no longer live a lie. Sun and Jin are still married, as are Bernard and Rose, and Locke never married Helen.

The clue here is where the objects were found. Paulo and Nikki's diamonds were found in a pond at the base of a waterfall (the same place the Halliburton case was found). The best supply of fresh water was found at the caves. No medicine was found at the Staff station, and the dynamite was found at the Black Rock, though there was C-4 found at the Flame.
