Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first clue of the race led teams to Plaza Mayor, a square in what South American nation?

Answer: Peru

Beginning the race in Los Angeles, California, eleven teams set out on a journey around the world beginning in the South American nation of Peru. The first clue of the race sent teams to Lima, the capital city, to find a clue box waiting in Plaza Mayor, also known as Plaza de Armas.

The second task was an overnight stay in Lima at the Playa Hermosa before teams spent the rest of the leg traveling around the city of Cuzco, one of the highest cities in the Andes Mountain range.
2. Arriving at Cerro Santa Lucia in Santiago, Chile, which team was eliminated at this fountain, the second Pit Stop of the race?

Answer: Megan and Heidi

Heading out from Peru, teams needed to skirt along the Pacific coast to the capital city of Chile, Santiago. Here, the ten remaining teams needed to shine shoes, cart books, and purchase food at a local market before checking in at their second Pit Stop, Neptune's Fountain in Cerro Santa Lucía, Santiago.

Here, Megan and Heidi were unable to hold on to their already-low ninth place position and instead slipped down to tenth. They were eliminated from the race in tenth place.
3. In Argentina (in Leg 4), teams visited this clock tower in Argentina, but in which city?

Answer: Buenos Aires

While teams would visit the town of Tigre in Leg 4, teams visited this, the English Clock Tower in Plaza de la Fuerza Aérea in Buenos Aires, specifically in the Retiro neighbourhood. Following this, teams took a train to Tigre. Two legs of the race were held in Argentina; the first half involved the teams crossing from Chile into Argentina and completing physical, outdoors-type tasks in the mountainous western regions while the second took teams eastward to Buenos Aires and the San Antonio River.
4. Which of the following race events was held at the Orlando Power Station near Johannesburg, South Africa (in Leg 5)?

Answer: Fast Forward

Visiting the nation of South Africa in Leg 5, teams had the option of attempting the Fast Forward upon touching down in the city of Johannesburg. For this task, teams needed to locate the Orlando Power Station. The participating team needed to ascend to the top and cross a thin bridge suspended between the inner edge of the silo.

Although Rob and Amber also went for the Fast Forward, it was reached first by Ray and Deana. This was the first of only two Fast Forwards in the race; both were claimed.
5. On the way to the Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana in Leg 6, Brian and Greg narrowly avoided elimination after what odd occurrence?

Answer: Car crash

Flying to Botswana in Leg 6, teams needed to take their own miniature safaris through the wilderness of Africa. On their way from a giant aardvark in the town of Gweta to a cattle post in the outpost of Xau Xarra, Brian and Greg ended up accidentally crashing their car, flipping it off the makeshift road. Neither was injured and, when a replacement car arrived, they were able to catch up to the other teams and arrive at their Pit Stop (and campsite) at the barren Makgadikgadi Pans in sixth place, eliminating an arguing Ray and Deana.
6. In Leg 8, teams stopped off for a clue at Bara Imambara, a shrine in which Indian city?

Answer: Lucknow

Heading out from Botswana in Leg 8, teams needed to fly to the city of Lucknow, India (via Mumbai and Delhi) and find a clue box waiting for them at the Bara Imambara, a big shrine. This began a double-length leg through India continuing through Lucknow's busy streets and then progressing via train to Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan.

When there, Uchenna and Joyce completed the famed head-shaving Fast Forward as a good luck blessing. The other teams needed to complete tasks involving camels and elephants before heading to the Pit Stop outside the monument of Jaswant Thada.
7. In Leg 9, the final four teams located which of the following on the island of Kiz Kulesi in Istanbul, Turkey?

Answer: Travelocity Roaming Gnome

Heading to Istanbul, Turkey in Leg 9, teams were required to make their way straight to the island of Kiz Kulesi, also known as Maiden's Tower. Here, teams needed to locate one of four Travelocity Roaming Gnomes and bring it with them to the next Pit Stop to win a trip for two. To get to Kiz Kulesi, teams needed to take a ferry there and back.

Afterwards, they needed to complete a Detour and Road Block in this city straddling two continents; the Pit Stop, Rumelihisarı, was on the European side of the city.
8. In Leg 10, four teams needed to take a ride on what London attraction?

Answer: London Eye

Heading out from Turkey in Leg 10, teams flew to the capital city of the UK, London, England. After stopping off for a clue at Abbey Road in Westminster, teams proceeded to Lambeth to take a ride on the London Eye (and spot a race flag leading to their next clue).

Other tasks during this leg of the race included a Detour task scavenger hunt with a Sherlock Holmes twist and a double-decker bus driving test outside the Millennium Dome. Although a Yield was used in this leg (against Ron and Kelly), it did not stop Meredith and Gretchen from getting eliminated at Potters Fields Park.
9. In Legs 11 and 12, teams headed to the Caribbean. The Rose Hall was visited in Leg 12, but in what country?

Answer: Jamaica

After leaving England in Leg 11, teams stopped over in Port Antonio, Jamaica for a series of tasks on the sea coast and along the Rio Grande. After a non-elimination Pit Stop at Round Hill in Montego Bay, teams found their final Detour of the race at Rose Hall, a former sugar plantation, in Leg 13. Neither Detour was held at this location. Following this, teams flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico before heading back to the continental United States.
10. In the final leg of the race, teams flew back to the United States and ended at the Bonnet House, a landmark in what city?

Answer: Fort Lauderdale

After finishing their tasks in Jamaica and Puerto Rico, teams flew to Miami to find clues at the Rickenbacker Causeway and in the Little Havana region of the city (specifically El Rey de los Habanos) before advancing to the finish line of the race at the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale. En route to the finish line, Uchenna and Joyce nearly lost out to Rob and Amber due to an unsettled cab fare but, at the last minute, they pulled through to become the million dollar winners of this seventh season of the race.
