Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first Road Block of the race, found in Leg 2, involved shining shoes in which country?

Answer: Peru

Visiting the city of Arequipa, Peru early in Leg 2, teams found the Shoe Shine Union and their first Road Block. In this task, one member of each team was required to shine five shoes on the street for a total of one sol each. Once that team member returned to the union with five sol, they would receive their next clue informing them that they needed to fly to Santiago, Chile. Ron, Amber, Ray, Susan, Gretchen, Megan, Joyce, Debbie, Brian, and Lynn all completed this first Road Block.
2. In the notable 'meat-eating' Road Block of Leg 3 (in Argentina), which team finished the Road Block task?

Answer: Ron and Kelly

In Leg 3, teams progressed to the town of Mendoza, Argentina where team members found their Road block task (and egads was it a memorable one). In this task, one member of each team needed to partake in a Gaucho feast comprised of cow ribs, intestines, kidneys, udders, saliva glands, and pork and blood sausages.

In total, the participating team member needed to eat four pounds of Argentinean meat. While some team members (Uchenna, Alex, Greg, Ron, Patrick, and Debbie) completed the Road Clock after several hours, Rob and Amber, Ray and Deana, and Meredith and Gretchen opted to take a four-hour penalty to avoid taking the challenge. All three teams made it to the Pit Stop without being eliminated as a result of this clever planning. Had they finished the task, Rob, Deana, and Meredith would've participated.
3. In Leg 4, teams completed a Road Block with a Gaucho theme. What did team members ride while completing the challenge?

Answer: Horse

Leg 4 took teams to the town of Lunlunta for their first clue and it is here where teams found the Road Block task. In this task, the chosen team mate needed to saddle up on a horse and (first) perform a barrel racing task before attempting to toss a stick through a ringed target.

This task was attempted and completed by Alex, Joyce, Kelly, Greg, Rob, Meredith, Deana, and Patrick. After the Road Block, teams were instructed to fly to Buenos Aires for their next clue.
4. Which team did not complete the Road Block task in South Africa in Leg 5?

Answer: Ray and Deana

Ray and Deana, having claimed the Fast Forward clue at the Orlando Cooling Station in Johannesburg, did not need to complete the remaining tasks in the leg and headed to the Pit Stop in Soweto. The remaining teams found the Baragwanath Market in Soweto and their Road Block task. For this, the specific team member needed to purchase five different items from the vendors in the market and then bring them to the Orlando Children's Home nearby.

This emotional Road Block was completed by Kelly, Greg, Lynn, Amber, Uchenna, and Gretchen though teams delivered their goods as partners, not alone.

After the Road Block, teams headed to the Pit Stop, Soweto Overlook.
5. In Leg 6 (in Botswana) team members needed to perform a target shooting Road Block with what object?

Answer: Spear

In Leg 6, teams needed to find a statue of a giant aardvark in the town of Gweta to locate their next clue, the Road Block task for this leg of the race. In this task, team members needed to use their accuracy and dexterity to throw a spear at a hanging target twenty feet away. Only one shot passing into the target was needed for them to receive their next clue instructing them to go to a cattle post at Xau Xarra. Greg, Ron, Ray, Lynn, Joyce, Meredith, and Rob completed this Road Block task and received their clue.
6. In Leg 8 in India, teams participated in a double-length leg of the race. In the first Road Block (in Lucknow) which team member competed?

Answer: Amber

Finding their way through Lucknow, teams got their Road Block task at a steel factory where they needed to search through hundreds of steel cases for one containing a clue. Amber, Kelly, Uchenna, Alex, and Gretchen all finished this task and proceeded onward to the Road Block.

In the second half of the leg (in Jodhpur), team members needed to ride a course for two laps in a camel-driven cart for the Road Block. This one was completed by Kelly, Amber, Lynn, and Meredith. Neither Uchenna nor Joyce finished this Road Block as they had claimed the Fast Forward.
7. In Leg 9, teams went to Istanbul, Turkey. How many team members (in total) finished the Road Block?

Answer: Four

At this point in the race, only Rob and Amber, Meredith and Gretchen, Uchenna and Joyce, and Ron and Kelly remained in the running. In Istanbul, teams found the Road Block clue at Rumeli Hisari. For this task, one member of each team needed to climb a ladder along the side of a tower, grab a key, then rappel down the other side of the structure.

After claiming a clue from a book on the other side, teams could head to their next Pit Stop inside the castle. Rob, Uchenna, Gretchen, and Ron completed this Road Block task.
8. In Leg 10, teams went to London, England. During the Road Block, what did team members need to drive?

Answer: Double-decker buses

In Leg 10, teams found themselves in London, England. Upon arriving at the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, teams located the Road Block task which required that one member of each team board a double-decker bus and drive it around a marked course. The catch? That member would be judged by an instructor, and if one pylon were hit on the course before they successfully parked their bus, they would need to start the task all over again. Rob, Kelly, Joyce, and Meredith finished this task.

After the Road Block, teams heaved to Potters Fields Park in Southwark, London for the Pit Stop.
9. Leg 11 (Jamaica) forced team members to complete a Road Block devoted to which task?

Answer: Limbo

In Leg 11, three team members (in total) completed a Road Block task on a Port Antonio beach. In this task, Joyce, Amber, and Kelly all needed to perform the limbo in order to proceed. However, rather than simply receiving a clue, how low they could limbo would determine their departure time the following morning (as they would be staying on the beach for the night). Amber and Kelly each won an 8:15am departure while Joyce claimed 8:30am.

In the morning, teams continued through Port Antonio for their next clue, the Detour task.
10. The final Leg of the race, Leg 12, took teams to Puerto Rico for a Road Block. Which team member completed the Road Block task?

Answer: None of these racers completed the task

For their final Road Block task, teams were instructed to head to an Abandoned Sugar Factory in Aguadilla. Once there, Amber, Ron, and Uchenna took the final solo challenge. For this, they needed to jump off a bridge thirty feet into the ocean, then swim out to a buoy to receive their next clue. Finally, teams were told to return to the mainland. Essentially, they needed to proceed to Miami, Florida to find their next clue at the Rickenbacker Causeway.
