Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the New Jersey Senator this episode is about?

Answer: Gary H. Wright

This question seemed simple enough, but in fact, the name of the Senator was spoken only once in the episode. House says, "Senator Gary H. Wright of New Jersey had childhood epilepsy." This was said towards the end of the episode when they had finally figured out the mystery of the Senator's ailment.
2. In this episode, Vogler gives House the deal to either take the Senator's case and give a speech or fire one of his staff.

Answer: True

"You can either give one 10-minute talk and one three-minute diagnosis or you can fire one of your pets." Vogler told House this at the beginning of "Role Model". Vogler wanted House to give a speech extolling the virtues of Eastbrook Pharmaceutical's Viopril. House later voices his views at the North America Cardiology Conference, telling everyone about Vogler's business-minded genius.
3. What is the subplot in "Role Model"?

Answer: Woman having sex in her sleep

House, after a few visits with her, concludes that the woman has Sexsomnia. This is a disorder that involves sleepwalking to a further extent. House prescribed a low-dose antidepressant and sent her on her way.
4. After the team does a brain biopsy on the Senator, they conclude there is no tumor or infection. But Wilson says it's toxoplasmosis. House then concludes that that would mean the Senator has what?

Answer: AIDS

After Wilson says that the Senator has toxoplasmosis, House responds with, "which means the Great Black Hope has full-blown AIDS." With this new finding, Foreman goes to explain the condition to the Senator. "Toxoplasmosis is a fairly common fungus you can get from eating under-cooked meat or touching cat feces.

In rare cases, the fungi travel up the bloodstream and latch onto the brain, causing a lesion of inflammation." Foreman goes on to say that the lesion is only caused if the immune system is weak to begin with. From this, they believe he has AIDS. Later, House says "if you have toxo in your, brain you have AIDS."
5. The Senator has AIDS.

Answer: False

Despite the last question's conclusion, when the antiretrovirals don't work, House does a second test. It turns out the first test was a false positive for AIDS, which occurs one time in every 5,000.
6. Foreman goes to get a signature for a spleen biopsy from the Senator but can't. What new symptom arises that stops Foreman?

Answer: Severely impaired breathing

Though extremely risky, Foreman goes to get a signature for the biopsy anyway. Earlier, Cuddy and the team had a clash over whether or not that was the best thing to do. Cuddy and Chase argued that at this point a spleen biopsy could cause sepsis and kill the Senator. This argument ended quickly enough considering they never even got around to doing the biopsy.
7. At one point, Foreman shows House the tests for what viruses would be present if the Senator had hairy-cell leukemia. The Senator is negative for many of the viruses, but positive for Epstein-Barr. House then confronts the Senator about his childhood incident, told earlier in the episode. What really caused the Senator to bite his tongue as a child?

Answer: Epileptic seizure

"Senator Gary H. Wright of New Jersey had childhood epilepsy. He took phenytoin." House found this out at the end of the episode. Earlier on, Foreman was examining the Senator and observed the scar on the Senator's tongue. Originally, the Senator said he fell off a swing and bit his tongue.

This led him to fight harder and speak up for those who couldn't. House gathered that this was a story devised by political advisors, and went back later at a crucial point to get the real story.
8. When the Senator starts recovering, he has a talk with Foreman and House regarding his campaign. Does the Senator believe he is going to become president?

Answer: No

The Senator says outright that he isn't going to win. This causes House to inquire as to why he would run in the first place. The Senator responds, "Oh, I see. Your point being, the only way to make a difference is to win every fight."
9. After lashing out at Vogler during the Viopril speech, what does House say to Vogler, concluding the scene?

Answer: "I threw in a joke."

The first time House walks away onstage, Vogler says that isn't a speech. That is when House says, "I thought it was pithy." Vogler then reiterates that House must fire either Foreman or Cameron. So House goes back onstage and begins telling the crowd about Vogler's business method.

Whenever the patent is about to expire on his drug, they tweak it slightly and re-patent it for a higher price. House says during the speech that he knows the new drug is good because the old one was good.
10. What is the last line spoken in "Role Model"?

Answer: "Good-bye, House."

All of these are lines in Cameron's conversation with House in the last scene, but the last thing she said was "Good-bye, House."
