Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Season 5 opens with the episode 'Enemies'. Which member of SG-1 is included among the enemies in this episode?

Answer: Teal'c

Teal'c has been brainwashed by Apophis. He once again believes that Apophis is a god.
Along with battling Apophis, Teal'c and Replicators, SG-1 find themselves a long way from home at the start of the episode after being caught in the blast wave from an exploding star as they entered hyperspace.
2. Loving Samantha Carter is dangerous for the alien Orlin in 'Ascension'. Which race does Orlin belong to?

Answer: Ancients

Orlin had been banished by the other Ancients for breaking one of their rules. Orlin sees Carter on Velona and follows her to Earth where he takes human form, and professes his love for her. Orlin is killed when he prevents the testing of the weapon on Velona.
Martouf, who had feelings for Carter, was killed in season 4 'Divide and Conquer'.
3. Who are SG-1 mistaken for in 'Red Sky'?

Answer: Elves

K'Tau is an Asgard protected planet and when SG-1 arrive, overriding the safety protocols on the stargate, they set off a chain reaction that threatens to destroy life on K'Tau. As friends of Thor, SG-1 are mistaken as elves bringing bad news when the sky turns red shortly after their arrival.
All SG-1's attempts to save the K'Tau people seem to fail, but the K'Tau sun inexplicably shifts away from the infra-red end of the spectrum at the end of the episode.
4. Daniel's friend Chaka is captured in 'Beast of Burden'. What race does Chaka belong to?

Answer: Unas

Daniel originally encountered Chaka on P3X-888 when Chaka kidnapped Daniel as part of a rite of passage in season 4 'The First Ones'.
Chaka is kidnapped for use as a slave, but SG-1 rescue him. Chaka refuses to return home, instead insisting he will stay to help free the other slave Unas.
5. Marduk causes a few problems for SG-1 and the Russian SG team in 'The Tomb'. Of which ancient Earth civilisation was Marduk a god?

Answer: Babylonian

Daniel Jackson identifies the writing on the door to the ziggurat as Babylonian cuneiform.
Most of the Goa'uld we meet are named after Egyptian gods, the Asgard tend to be named from Norse mythology.
6. Whose funeral do SG-1 attend on Tollana in 'Between Two Fires'?

Answer: Omoc

Narim suspected Omoc may have been murdered and warns SG-1 that Omoc had thought Earth may be in danger. SG-1 prevails but not before Tollana is attacked by the Goa'uld. We never hear from the Tollan again.
Narim was romantically interested in Sam Carter.
Schroedinger was Carter's cat that she gave to Narim in season 1, 'Enigma'.
7. In '2001' who gets left behind on the Volian homeworld?

Answer: Ambassador Joseph Faxon

The Volians are in an interplanetary confederation with an advanced race, the Aschen. The Aschen are not as nice as they seem and when SG-1 uncovers the truth about their intentions they try to launch a bio-weapon on Earth, through the stargate. Joe Faxon buys time for Carter to warn Earth and close the iris.
Joe Faxon was romantically interested in Sam Carter... you can start to see why she was sometimes referred to as the 'Black widow of sci-fi'.
8. Teal'c gets trapped inside the stargate. How long do the remainder of SG-1 have to work on the problem?

Answer: 48 hours

'Stargate: Atlantis' regular, Dr Rodney McKay is introduced in this episode '48 Hours' as the Pentagon's expert on the stargate. He believes that an energy signature will decay over this amount of time so that it will no longer be possible to reintegrate someone. Using the Russian DHD they manage to get Teal'c back, safe and well.
9. What threat is Earth facing in 'Fail Safe'?

Answer: An asteroid on a collision course with Earth.

A popular sci-fi film plot with a twist: the asteroid has a core of naquadah and was sent by the Goa'uld in an attempt to destroy Earth without breaking the Protected Planets Treaty with the Asgard. Luckily SG-1 manage to use hyperspace to jump the asteroid through the Earth!
10. Teal'c is tempted by K'Tano to leave SG-1 in 'The Warrior', but who does Teal'c discover is K'Tano's true identity?

Answer: Imhotep

K'Tano, who poses as the former First Prime of Imhotep, attempts to raise an army of Jaffa by exploiting their desire for freedom from the Goa'uld. O'Neill and K'Tano do not see eye to eye on tactics when K'Tano sends young Jaffa on suicide missions.
