The virtual reality simulation depicts the SGC being taken over by kull warriors working for a Goa'uld. Teal'c undertakes the challenge of using his knowlegde and experience to make the game harder, but it adapts to his subconscious fear that the Goa'uld will never be defeated, making it impossible for him to escape the game without some precognitive help from Daniel.

Kar'yn is one of Ishta's student warriors from the planet Hak'tyl. Moloc is the name of the Goa'uld who is hunting Ishta and her followers.

Sam and Daniel go to Nevada to try and link the theft to members of the Trust, a secret organisation trying to use the stargate network to their own ends - namely launching a chemical war against the Goa'uld. Jack is stuck in Cheyenne mountain now that he's base commander, and Teal'c is advised to remain offworld at the Alpha Site during the situation.

Most of these objects are used in this episode - the Stargate of course is the object stolen by the Trust, Osiris' hand device is studied by Sam as a possible way to access the Goa'uld ship (this was stolen, but from Area 51 not the SGC), and the Trust members use cloaked Asgard transporter beams on the ship to whisk the Stargate away right under the noses of everyone at the SGC! The ZPM however doesn't make much of an appearance until much later in the series.

Maybourne decides it's far too much fun being King and ruling over his adoring subjects (especially the more scantily clad ones!) than returning to his often illegal activities on Earth.

Daniel finds out later in the episode that Jim is actually Anubis - he is stuck between planes of existance because he has been banished from the ascended world but not fully stripped of his powers and cannot retake human form, almost a state of purgatory.

The knowledge that it was Oma who originally helped Anubis to ascend is what caused Daniel to return to mortal life after his first ascension, but this time Oma uses her powers to become locked in a clash with Anubis, preventing his planned destruction of the galaxy through the Stargate network.

Joe's wife drags him to a garage sale at the beginning of the episode where a stone catches his eye. When he touches it his mind is shown visions of SG-1's latest mission; he uses these visions to tell stories of SG-1 and the Goau'ld to his customers and it later takes over his life as he becomes obsessed with proving to his sceptical family and friends that the SGC is truly real. Dan Castellaneta who plays Joe Spencer is a man of many talents (or should that be many voices?). On 'The Simpsons' he creates the voices of most notably Homer, Grandpa Abraham Simpson, Barney Gumble, Krusty the Clown...the list goes on... Wow, what a man!

In the alternate-reality caused by the original SG-1 messing with the timeline (in 3000 BC no less!) Daniel appears first as he struggles to teach 'English as a second language' classes to foreign students, we then meet Sam who is being put-upon by her male colleagues at the Department of Aerospace Research, and Jack is later seen enjoying retirement on his fishing boat. Probably the least changed by it all is Teal'c, who is still first prime of Apophis, although he's not recruited to the team until part two of the episode.

The alternate-reality Daniel is shot by a staff weapon blast while they are trying to return to the puddle-jumper after recruiting Teal'c from Chulak. Fitting really as out of the original SG-1 who are already in Egypt, it is only Daniel who's survived...
