Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What creature did Sam and Dean hunt in "Southern Comfort"?

Answer: A spectre

The brothers hunted a spectre. Spectres are avenging ghosts that possess people, ramp up their resentments and anger to rage, and get them to kill the objects of that rage. The ectoplasm from the spectre was green, rather than the black ectoplasm the brothers were used to seeing from ghosts.

The spectre was attached to a penny that the unknown confederate soldier had been wearing, and it possessed a woman, her son, two police deputies, and Dean, before Garth picked up the penny and melted it down.
2. Who said, "Burn a confederate soldier's bones in a town full of rednecks? Sure!" in a very sarcastic manner?

Answer: Sam

Sam said this in "Southern Comfort" after the brothers and Garth realized that the body in the tomb of the unknown confederate soldier was the source of the spectre they were hunting in Missouri. The brothers and Garth were able to burn the bones without incident, though.
3. Who killed the tooth fairy?

Answer: Garth

In "Southern Comfort", Garth told the Winchesters that he was a dentist until he killed the tooth fairy and became a hunter. This was also the episode where the brothers found out that Garth had taken over Bobby's duties.
4. Before burning the bones of the unknown confederate soldier, Garth suggested that they should say something over the body. Dean agreed, and said, "______."

Answer: We won

Dean's economy of words and lack of sentiment made for a very funny moment in "Southern Comfort", particularly when contrasted with Garth's zen, sentiment-filled manner. Unfortunately, burning the bones did not stop the spectre, since it was attached to an object.
5. Linda Tran hired Delta to help make a demon bomb in "A Little Slice of Kevin". How did she meet Delta?

Answer: She found her on Craigslist

Linda Tran found the witch on Craigslist. She enlisted Delta to find the ingredients for the demon bomb. Her dealings with the witch led to a funny exchange. When Delta asked for the recipe, Linda responded, "You know the rules. Casual encounters. That means no questions asked." Kevin stepped in to correct his mother, letting her know that was from "another part of Craigslist."
6. In "A Little Slice of Kevin", how did Crowley torture Kevin to make him read the tablet?

Answer: He cut off Kevin's finger

Crowley cut off Kevin's finger. In addition to the title of the episode, the writers also had fun with this bit of horror in another way. When the Winchesters and Castiel were entering Crowley's lair to rescue Kevin, the camera focused on a sign that said, "Beware. Sharp edges. Keep fingers clear."
7. In "Hunteri Heroici", what was NOT a way that a person died?

Answer: Blown up by a red and white birthday candle

Numerous people died in cartoon manners. Gary died when his heart jumped ten feet out of his chest. The businessman that had lost all his money when Roman Industries went under committed suicide by stepping off a roof, but he was suspended in mid air for several seconds until he looked down.

At that point, "Splat", to quote the detective that spoke to the hunters. And, an anvil fell on a person and killed him. Dean referred to the victim as the "pancake". While the giant candle bomb did explode in the episode, it only destroyed the cake, and nobody died due to that incident.

At one point during the episode, the detective on the case asked the hunters if they "chase the crazy or does the crazy chase you?" Sam replied, "It depends on the day."
8. When Castiel told Sam and Dean he wanted to become a hunter, they were receptive, though Dean referred to it as Castiel playing "cowboys and ______" what?

Answer: Bloodsuckers

In "Hunteri Heroici", after telling the brothers he had found a case in Oklahoma City and getting their agreement to check it out, Castiel told them he would see them there. Dean stopped him, stating, "Cas, you want to play Cowboys and Bloodsuckers, that's fine, but you're gonna stick with us, okay, none of this zappin' around crap." The whole exchange between Castiel and the brothers was amusing.

In making his argument for becoming a hunter, he told them he could be their "third wheel", explaining why a third wheel was literally such a good thing. And, he asked to ride shotgun in the car, but both brothers snapped "no" and Sam blocked him from getting in the front seat.
9. What was Dean's reaction when Gary's wife admitted she knew her husband had been having an affair with their neighbor?

Answer: He called her "the best wife ever"

This occurred when the brothers and Castiel interviewed Gary's wife in "Hunteri Heroici". Dean recovered first from the shocking revelation by telling Sam and Castiel, "Freaking suburbs, man." He then followed it up by calling her "the best wife ever", much to Sam's amusement.
10. While talking about the person that appeared to be creating a cartoon world, doing things like walking through walls, Dean referred to the person as the what?

Answer: animaniac

In "Hunteri Heroici", Dean referred to the thing they were hunting as an "animaniac". It turned out that the culprit was Dr. Mahoney, who was using an elderly retirement home resident with psychokinetic powers to alter reality while he committed robberies.

When reality was altered, Dr. Mahoney was able to draw a black hole and use it to walk through walls. The retirement home resident was Fred Jones, a former hunter who had been a friend of John Winchester. Fred was locked within his own mind, but Sam was able to reach him after Castiel transported them into the man's mind. Fred then killed Dr. Mahoney, who had used him to commit robberies and murders. Fred was played by Mike Farrell, who was in "MASH".
11. In "Hunteri Heroici", who said, "What's up, Doc?" and "That's all, folks"?

Answer: Dean

Dean said "What's up, Doc?" when he caught Dr. Mahoney robbing the bank. He said, "That's all, folks" after Fred used his power to make Dr. Mahoney shoot himself. Each of these lines was a classic line from the "Looney Tunes" show. Bugs Bunny (who Castiel thought was an insect rabbit hybrid) said them both, and Porky Pig also said the latter, as well.
12. How did Dean refer to Martin in "Citizen Fang"?

Answer: "Crazy Martin" and "Mostly Okay"

Dean was not pleased when he found out Sam had asked Martin to observe and report on Benny. Dean suggested the former mental patient should be "assembling toys in a padded room" rather than hunting. When Sam stated that Martin "seemed okay, mostly", Dean latched on to "Mostly Okay" as a moniker for Martin, in addition to calling him "Crazy Martin".

When he met with Martin, Dean asked the hunter if he was sure he was "running on a full charge"? The look Dean threw Sam when Martin replied, "Yeah, a little shock therapy in the morning, and I'm good to go" was classic. Martin also appeared in "Sam, Interrupted" from season 5.
13. Who killed Desmond in "Citizen Fang"?

Answer: Benny

Benny and Dean hunted Desmond, a "rogue vamp", after Benny told Dean that Desmond was the vampire that killed two people. Benny told Dean that Desmond was trying to force him to join his nest by killing people near him, but Benny was committed to spending time with his great granddaughter.

When Dean and Benny went after Desmond, Desmond attacked Dean, and Benny chopped Desmond's head off.
14. In "Citizen Fang", how did Dean stop his brother from going after Benny?

Answer: He faked a distress call from Amelia

Dean told Sam and Martin that he believed Benny, who said it was Desmond that was killing people. He told Sam he trusted Benny. Sam was not buying it, though, and then Martin knocked Dean out. Sam handcuffed Dean to the radiator and he and Martin went after Benny.

When Dean got free, he sent Sam the fake distress text from Amelia, knowing Sam would leave the hunt to go to her. This way, Dean prevented a showdown between his brother and his friend.
15. Finish this quote by Dean (said to Benny): "Guys like us, we don't get a home. We don't get ______."

Answer: family

Dean said this to Benny in "Citizen Fang" when telling Benny that he needed to leave town and his great granddaughter. Benny replied, "You got Sam." Dean said, "Yeah" but he did not sound convinced. At this point, the brothers were very far apart emotionally.
