In the beginning of leg 7, teams departed from Siracusa, Sicily and travelled 350 miles to Rome to the famous Trevi Fountain. Here, they had to go to the Spanish Steps and find a horse carriage containing their next clue and a puzzle. This puzzle contained Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, and the first team to bring the completed puzzle to the pit stop would win a prize.

After this, teams had to fly to the Agora marketplace in Athens, Greece. Everyone arrived on the same plane and reached their clue early in the morning.

This clue contained the first of only two Fast Forwards in the race. In order to obtain it, teams would need to break plates at a nearby bakery in order to find one with a route marker baked inside. They would then receive a clue taking them straight to the Pit Stop. Eric and Jeremy were the first to complete the task.

Teams left the Ancient Agora and took a train to Isthmos Station in Corinth. Three teams got off the train early and took a bus to the train station and were later penalized for this. When teams arrived at the Road Block, they had to choose one member to bungee jump 240 feet into Corinth Canal.

After this, teams would receive their next clue. Fran, Michelle, Monica, Tyler, and Ray completed this task.

After the Road Block, teams needed to travel to a nearby stadium to find their Detour tasks. In 'It's All Greek To Me', teams needed to find an archaeological site containing Greek Letters on pottery shards. They would then ask spectators to translate the letters, ten they would have to rearrange them to spell out a city on a Greek map (Dimitsana). Fran and Barry and Lake and Michelle completed this task. In 'Herculean Effort', teams needed to participate in three Olympic sports which involved the discus, javelin, and wrestling. Once they completed these tasks, they'd receive their clues. BJ and Tyler, Ray and Yolanda, and Joseph and Monica completed this task.

Since some teams didn't take a train all the way to Isthmos Station in Corinth, they were given a fifteen minute penalty at the Pit Stop at the Fortress of Rion in Rio, Greece. This penalty allowed Joseph and Monica to pass Ray and Yolanda at the Pit Stop, and it gave BJ and Tyler a scare when they arrived in fifth. Lake and Michelle never needed to wait through their penalty, but they would have needed to had they not arrived last.

Eric and Jeremy once again arrived at the Pit Stop in first place (this time thanks to the Fast Forward), and since they brought the completed Vitruvian Man puzzle with them, they won a trip to the premiere of "The Da Vinci Code" film. Since Lake and Michelle were unable to overcome their penalty, and because of the fact that they got lost driving to the Pit Stop, they were the sixth team eliminated from the race.

Teams were instructed to leave the Pit Stop and travel to Muscat, Oman for their next clue. In order to do this, teams needed to sign up for a bus at a visitor's center across the river from the Pit Stop and drive to Athens Airport to catch a plane. During this whole time, BJ and Tyler took the latest bus and the latest flight to Oman.

In Oman, teams needed to find a giant incense burner for their next clue, but it was closed until 6:00am. After this, teams needed to drive 135 miles to the town of Sur.

On the way to Sur, many teams encounter real Road Blocks. They had to drive through flooded rivers in order to reach the town. Once at the ferry crossing known as Baith Al Battha, teams received their Detour. In the 'Camel' task, teams needed to use a block and tackle system to place a camel into the back of a flatbed truck, then drive it one mile to a Bedouin camp where they would receive their next clue. Joseph and Monica, Eric and Jeremy, and Ray and Yolanda completed this task.

In 'Watch Tower', teams needed to search one of three watch towers for one of two containing message boxes. Once they found these, they had to cross the river again and take it to a man named Mubarek in a silver shop one mile away. After this, teams would receive their next clue. Fran and Barry and BJ and Tyler completed this task.
After the Detour, teams were instructed to drive 80 miles to the village of Al Hawiyah and find their clue box.

In the Road Block, one member from each team had to dig through more than a hundred sand mounds in order to find one of six containing a natural oven. This natural oven would contain shuwas, an Omani meat dish. Once the team member pulled the food out of the warm hole, they would be given their clue. Teams would also need to take the food with them since it would be their dinner. BJ, Barry, Monica, Yolanda and Eric completed the task.

Answer: Fran and Barry

After the Road Block, teams were instructed to drive 150 miles to Jabreen Castle. Since Fran and Barry were the first team to arrive, they won a trip for two to Rome, Italy. Since BJ struggled during the grueling Road Block, he and Tyler arrived at the Pit Stop in last place.

Despite this, Phil informed them that it was a non-elimination round and that they were still in the race. Their possession and money were taken from them, and they were to start Leg 9 with no money.
