Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which Canadian province was the starting line for this second "Amazing Race Canada"?

Answer: Alberta

Being sent onto the course from the Athabasca Glacier in Jasper National Park, Alberta, teams were told to hop into their brand-new Chevy Tahoes and drive themselves more than three hundred kilometers to Calgary, Alberta. Once there, they had to locate Winsport's Canada Olympic Park, home of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.

Here, teams had to ascend to the top of the ski jump and ride Canada's fastest zipline to the bottom to receive their next clue from Canadian silver-medal Olympian Helen Upperton.
2. To which British Columbian city did teams travel in Leg 1?

Answer: Victoria

After completing the zipline, teams had to drive themselves to the airport to secure seats on one of three flights heading to Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia. Four teams would take the first flight, three would take the third, and four would take the final one. Upon their arrival, they needed to hop into taxis which would take them to their next destination, the Viscount Aero Center in Sidney, where their next clue would be found in a compartment of a restored Fleet Model 10D biplane.
3. During the race's first Road Block, one team member needed to complete which of these potentially frightening tasks in B.C.?

Answer: Tandem skydive

Finding the biplane would take team members into the first Road Block of the race, sending one of each pair almost four kilometers into the sky for a tandem skydive over Victoria's coast (to 'jump into the race'). When they landed, teams were able to reunite and collect their next clue.

This task was completed by Natalie, Alain, Nicole, Bob, Sukhi, Ryan, Jackie, Jen, Pete, Shahla, and Pierre.
4. During the second Road Block in Leg 1, team members visited a famous B.C. hotel to serve which of these to customers?

Answer: Tea and snacks

After the first Road Block, teams had to find the Arbutus tree outside the Victoria Fairmont Empress hotel to find a second Road Block, completed by the member who did not do the first one. As such, Meaghan, Audrey, Cormac, Rex, Laura, Jinder, Rob, Mickey, Michel, Shawn, and Nabeela had to finish this task which involved taking an etiquette lesson and memorizing a menu which had to be recited in full to the diners in the hotel's tea lounge. If the racer screwed up any part of this, they would have to go to the back of the line and try again.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 1 (in B.C.)?

Answer: Shahla and Nabeela

After the second Road Block, teams needed to take a boat docked outside the Fairmont Empress to the site of the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. Here, they both had to suit up and perform a drill in which they used tools (and their wits) to stop the leaks in a ship flood simulator. Once all nine leaks were plugged they could continue on to the first Pit Stop of the race, the Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site in Colwood, B.C. The first team to arrive was Olympic hockey players Natalie and Meaghan who won a trip for two from Air Canada to anywhere in South America and $2,000 spending money.

They also won two Express Passes-- one for themselves and one for another team to be given before Leg 5. In the end, Shahla and Nabeela were the last team to arrive and, after taking a penalty in the final task, they were eliminated from the race in eleventh place.
6. In Leg 2, teams flew to the city of Tofino in what Canadian province/territory?

Answer: British Columbia

Heading out from their first Pit Stop in Colwood, British Columbia, teams were told to make their way three hundred miles up the coast to the city of Tofino, also in B.C. To do so, teams had to take one of the many scheduled flights from Victoria's international airport (though three were inevitably taken, all with an hour gap between departure times). Upon their arrival, the teams had to locate their Chevrolet Volt electric cars, unplug them, and drive out to the clue box waiting on Wickaninnish Beach in Pacific Rim National Park.
7. In Leg 2, both Detour options in Tofino involved which of the following local industries?

Answer: Fishing

Reaching Wickaninnish Beach, teams were given their Detour clue. Regardless of their choice, all teams had to drive to the nearby town of Ucluelet to find the tasks: 'Sharp Knives' and 'Sharp Eyes'. In the former task, teams had to properly fillet thirty pounds of rockfish. Teams choosing this task had a limited number of fish, and should they fail to make enough proper cuts, they would be forced to complete the second task regardless.

In 'Sharp Eyes', teams had to sort through a large container of fish, separating them into bins they designated for the five different species. 'Sharp Knives' was completed by Audrey and Alain, Natalie and Meaghan, Cormac and Nicole, Mickey and Pete, and Pierre and Michel. 'Sharp Eyes' was completed by Rex and Bob, Sukhi and Jinder, Laura and Jackie, Ryan and Rob, and Jen and Shawn.
8. How long did team members need to stand on a surfboard in Tofino in Leg 2?

Answer: Three seconds

After the Detour, teams were told to drive themselves to the Surf Shop near North Chesterman Beach in Tofino. Once there, they had to change into surf gear and bike their designated surfboards to the water. There, one team member needed to head out into the water and stand on their surfboard for three seconds while riding the waves.

The other team member needed to film the surfing on a digital camera. When the video was presented to a surf instructor, they would get their next clue.
9. For their Road Block in Tofino in Leg 2, teams had to build which of the following?

Answer: Chair

Immediately after the surf task, teams received their Road Block clue sending them down to the south sands of the beach. There, one person from each duo was required to build a traditional Tofino beach chair using driftwood, rope, and netting. Once they created a stable chair which could support the weight of a judge, they could receive their next clue.

This task was attempted by Natalie, Alain, Bob, Pete, Cormac, Michel, Jinder, Laura, and Ryan.
10. Which team was forced to withdraw from "The Amazing Race Canada 2" during Leg 2?

Answer: Jen and Shawn

After completing the Road Block, teams were told to proceed on foot through the town of Tofino to the crab dock at the end of Olsen Road. There, Natalie and Meaghan took their second consecutive win, this time receiving a trip for two to Hong Kong courtesy of Air Canada, once again receiving $2,000 for their victory. Although Rex and Bob took two penalties, two hours incurred for not completing the surfing challenge and another four hours for leaving the Road Block incomplete, they were ultimately spared when Jen and Shawn were forced to pull out of the race; Shawn dislocated his shoulder during the surfing task, requiring immediate medical attention.
