Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 7, teams completed tasks in what Manitoba city?

Answer: Winnipeg

Teams left Toronto the after spending the night and morning at the sixth Pit Stop and, after starting in front of the Canadian National Exhibition, teams were told to fly to the capital of Manitoba, Winnipeg, on one of two separate flights leaving from Pearson International Airport (three teams were on the first flight and three were on the second). Upon landing, teams needed to locate a marked 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR-2 and navigate their way to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights.

Inside, they had to match eighteen quotes from human rights heroes found in the museum to the proper person, searching the eleven galleries inside for the answers.
2. Teams completing the 'Bites' Detour task in Manitoba in Leg 7 worked with which delivery app to get their next clue?

Answer: Skipthedishes

Teams collected a Detour task at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights and it forced a choice between 'Tights' and 'Bites'. In 'Tights', teams needed to head to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet where they needed to learn the steps to a sequence from Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake' and perform them properly for an artistic director to get their next clue. Leanne and Mar, Taylor and Courtney, and Nancy and Mellisa did this. Martina and Phil, Adam and Courtney, and Dylan and Kwame completed 'Bites' instead, sending them to the headquarters for the Skipthedishes app to receive smartphones they could use to make two proper deliveries in the Winnipeg area. If they received two positive reviews they could get their next clue.
3. In Leg 7, teams competed in their first Face Off of the race, going head-to-head in what game?

Answer: Darts

Completing their Detour tasks, teams were directed to a Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Winnipeg where they needed to compete in a Face Off, battling against each other in order to be able to collect their next clue and proceed with the race. For this task, the teams needed to play darts, hitting all twenty segments on the board first to complete the game.

The last team to win and complete the task needed to wait out a predetermined penalty time, running through an hourglass timer before continuing on. All team members would be inducted into the Royal Canadian Legion before departing.
4. The Road Block completed at a market in Leg 7 involved making sandwiches.

Answer: False

Completing the Face Off, teams needed to drive to The Forks Market and search inside for the next clue. There, teams found the Road Block for this leg and it asked for the team member who 'wants to have a ball'. For this two-part Road Block, teams had to learn a magician's cup and ball trick and perform it for a crowd with sleight of hand.

Then, they had to successfully create a balloon animal to give away at the end of their performance. Courtney, Leanne, Martina, Dylan, Adam, and Mellisa learned this routine to complete the task.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Manitoba in Leg 7?

Answer: Nancy and Mellisa

After completing the Road Block, teams needed to drive to Assiniboine Park and, specifically, the Leo Mol Sculpture Gardens to find Jon at their next Pit Stop. This time, Taylor and Courtney stepped on the map in first place (for their third time in a row and their fourth overall). For winning, they took a trip for two to New York City.

The last to arrive was Nancy and Mellisa who fell behind during the Face Off and were unable to recover in time to get back into the pack. They were, however, saved by the race's second non-elimination leg.

They would, of course, need to face a Speed Bump in Leg 8.
6. In Charlottetown, P.E.I. in Leg 8, teams had to search for statues of which of these animals?

Answer: Mice

Teams started Leg 8 by departing Winnipeg from the intersection of Portage and Main and heading to the airport to fly to Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island via Toronto (a distance of two and a half thousand kilometres). Upon arriving in P.E.I., teams had to hop into their 2018 Chevrolet Volts and make their way to a clue box waiting at the Beaconsfield Historic House in Downtown Charlottetown.

There, Nancy and Mellisa completed a Speed Bump, cutting two peoples' hair for the Canadian Cancer Society, while everyone else continued on, searching for Eckhart in the City, hunting down seven miniature bronze statues of mice, only three of which would have fragments of their next clue.
7. In P.E.I. in Leg 8, how many people completed the Road Block task at 'The Table' restaurant?

Answer: Six

Combining their clue fragments, teams were told: 'Search for your next clue near the corner of Route 6... and Grahams Road, but first... say goodbye to Charlottetown!'. Arriving at their destination, they found a restaurant in an old church and, there, team members completed a Road Block. For this task, the participants had to receive a menu listing a four-course meal that they would have to serve to the customers therein. All of the choices, however, were listed in word scrambles and needed to be deciphered and served in order before teams could continue on. Courtney, Nancy, Mar, Phil, Taylor, and Kwame completed this one.
8. All teams in Leg 8 completed which Detour task on Prince Edward Island?

Answer: Spuds

After the Road Block, teams chose between 'Suds' and 'Spuds' for their Detour though all of them ended up going with the latter. In 'Suds', teams would've needed to find the Great Canadian Soap Company and milk enough goats to make soap. Then, they would've had to sniff ten types of soap and identify each correctly.

In 'Spuds', teams instead went to Blue Bay Farms in Rustico, P.E.I. to till the soil to create four rows in a field to plant chopped potatoes for crops. Once all of the rows were properly planted they got their clue.
9. Playing Zombie Paintball in Leg 8, teams were penalized for which of these?

Answer: Paintballs that hit them

After a labour-intensive Detour, teams were told to drive to the town of Cavendish, P.E.I. where they needed to locate Crossfire Paintball Cavendish and, when there, they had to suit up to play a round of Zombie Paintball. During this, they had to search for clue in one of the multiple ammunition boxes scattered around the gaming area. For each paintball to hit one of their team members, they would be penalized one minute upon returning to the starting point. Of course, all teams were penalized a fair bit; the lowest penalty time was a fourteen minute wait.
10. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 8?

Answer: Leanne and Mar

After waiting out their penalties at Crossfire Paintball Cavendish, teams were told to drive to their next Pit Stop at Cavendish Beach in Prince Edward Island National Park. There, Nancy and Mellisa overcame their Speed Bump and forged ahead to their first victory of the race (from worst to first!) winning a trip for two to Istanbul, Turkey. Dylan and Kwame trailed for the leg, but Leanne and Mar took a two hour penalty at the paintball challenge after refusing to complete the task. Dylan and Kwame ended up stepping on the mat before Leanne and Mar's penalty time ended, so the girls were eliminated.
