The Daily Show is like a half hour version of "Weekend Update". It hails itself as a "fake news show"-- but for a fake news show, gets a lot of influential politicans on it!

Answer: Craig Kilborn

Craig Kilborn went on to have his own late night talk show.
3. What did the first host give Jon Stewart upon leaving the job?

Answer: a phone book

Craig Kilborn put the phone book on Jon's chair to make fun of the fact that Jon is quite short, and might need it to make him appear taller.

One of his most famous routines was "Unleavened".

Jon: "You may have to do that again, on some other show, because...uh, I don't think it counts here." That was followed by Stephen Colbert's analysis of the announcement as a "campaign killer". =)
