At the beginning of this episode Sophia was seen putting clam sauce in her suitcase. When questioned about it by her daughter, Sophia told Dorothy that it was because her daughter-in-law only ever went into the kitchen "to get a cold beer". Jumping to her sister-in-law's defence, Dorothy exclaimed that she had "no time to cook", as she worked "all day." However this did nothing to appease Sophia's disapproval, as she went on to state with disappointment that her son "married a welder".

When Blanche entered the house at the start of this episode, she informed Dorothy that she had "just discovered a great new way to meet more men". Unable to contain herself, this prompted Sophia to come out with the above quotation. However Blanche simply ignored her, and explained with enthusiasm that she had enrolled in a CPR class. Chattering on, she informed Dorothy that throughout the class, "dozens of eligible men" had pressed their lips" to hers, in an attempt to breathe air into her supposedly lifeless little body.

Midway through this episode, Rose was seen setting the dinner table, with an annoyed expression on her face. Seconds later, the reason for her anger became clear, when it was revealed that Blanche had invited Rose's date, Jonathan, round to the house for dinner. For as Blanche explained, she had asked Rose "three times in" the "past week to invite Dr Newman to dinner". Nevertheless, Rose insisted "that the invitation to dinner should've come from" her. Blanche, however, retorted that Rose "always put it off", prompting an uncharacteristically evasive Rose to protest that she had not put it off, but had simply forgotten.

Rose's lips were the focus of much of this episode's early humour. For at the beginning of this episode, Blanche told Rose that she knew when she was "really angry", because Rose pursed her "little lips so tight, they almost" disappeared. Moments later, Dorothy could be heard yelling from the kitchen, "Have her lips come out yet?" Moreover when Dorothy entered the room, she said "Rose, come on now. You're about to swallow your chin."

When Dr. Jonathan Newman knocked on the front door of the house, Blanche opened it and mistook him for a child selling newspaper subscriptions. Telling him, "Oh, no, thank you, little boy, we already take the 'Miami Herald', Blanche promptly closed the door in his face. She then informed Dorothy that it was "one of the Donaldson boys trying to sell us a newspaper subscription again".

As Jonathan left the house after dinner, he asked Rose to have dinner with him the following day, as there was "something important" he wanted to talk to her about. After agreeing, an excited Rose then told Blanche and Dorothy that she thought Jonathan was going to ask her "to marry him".

Although Jonathan had not yet asked Rose to marry him, she fell asleep worrying about whether or not she could ever marry a man who was so much shorter than she was. As she drifted off into a dream, Blanche's consoling words, ("Why don't you just sleep on it?") resounded in her head. Rose's dream then took over, beginning on the morning of her and Jonathan's wedding day.

As Rose worried about marrying Jonathan, Sophia entered the room in a priest's outfit, announcing that she was the one who was going to marry them.

Midway through Rose's dream, her dead father entered the room, declaring that he had heard she was "getting remarried", and he "wanted to meet the lucky guy." Her father's short stature caused Rose to exclaim that she had "always thought Daddy was much taller", prompting Dorothy to remark that it was "probably because his size didn't matter" to her. Blanche then commented that "when you really care for someone, you see them for what they are on the inside," prompting Rose's father to respond with the above quotation.

Near the end of this episode, Jonathan broke up with Rose while they were out having dinner. However he broached the subject in a manner which led Rose to believe that he was proposing marriage. As a result, Jonathan took Rose completely by surprise when he informed her that they could no longer continue seeing each other, as Rose was not Jewish.

Although Rose was initially angry when Jonathan revealed that he was ending their relationship, the pair did eventually end on good terms. Rose's first response was to stand up and announce that she could not believe what she was hearing, as she had been agonising over their relationship.

This prompted Jonathan to ask Rose to lower her voice, as people were staring at her. An infuriated Rose then responded with, "Staring at me? They're staring at you." Jonathan retorted that he was used to it, as he was a very snappy dresser, which finally broke the tension, and the pair dissolved into laughter.

The final scene of this episode saw both of them admit that they were going to miss each other.
