Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The game begins with Lucy Stillman and Desmond Miles escaping from Abstergo Industries. They meet up with two other people - Rebecca Crane, and whom?

Answer: Shaun Hastings

In 'Assassin's Creed', Lucy Stillman appears to just be an employee at Abstergo Industries, but it is later discovered, particularly in the opening gameplay sequence of 'Assassin's Creed II', that she is in fact an Assassin and was using her position in Abstergo to gain information about mysterious messages left by a previous subject of the Animus tests (known only as Subject 16). Two others, Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings, are also in league with Lucy, and are using Desmond and his Assassin ancestry to examine the roots of the Abstergo organisation in the Templar Knights and discover their true intentions.
2. Where in Renaissance Italy does an adolescent Ezio Auditore first become playable?

Answer: Florence

Ezio Auditore, a young man in Florence, finds himself embroiled in a scheme that sees his father and brothers betrayed and hanged. Fleeing with his mother and sister to his uncle's villa at Monteriggioni, Ezio vows to track down and exact revenge against those responsible for his family's downfall. Eventually, it is revealed, through letters and messages directed to other conspirators, that the Borgia family are at the helm of the plan, but it is not until the events of 'Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood' that Ezio is able to bring down this powerful family.
3. On his journey, Ezio locates encrypted codex pages, that reveal blueprints for weapons and devices. Which close friend of Ezio is able to decode these pages and reproduce these inventions?

Answer: Leonardo da Vinci

Ezio first meets Leonardo in Florence when he collects some paintings from his workshop. The two form a friendship, and Leonardo uses his technical prowess and his wild imagination to create items and machines for Ezio from codex pages scattered across Italy. Leonardo later leaves Florence and sets up shop in Venice.
4. Eight statuettes are hidden amongst the roofs, terraces and laneways of Monteriggioni. Returning each of the four pairs to their respective pedestal in the surrounding gardens of the Auditore villa will award Ezio with what?

Answer: 2000 florins for each pair

The statuettes represent Roman gods, and each pedestal is inscribed with a description. The statuettes, and indeed the pairs, are Jupiter and Minerva, Mars and Venus, Neptune and Pluto, and Diana and Apollo. Much like purchasing and upgrading buildings in Monteriggioni to raise the city's value, each completed pair of statue will increase the city's economic value.
5. Who does Ezio rescue from the middle of a lake on the outskirts of Forlì?

Answer: Caterina Sforza

Just as Ezio and Leonardo are about to leave Forlì for Venice, the captain of the ferry asks Ezio for his pass to enter Venice. Unfortunately for Ezio, he doesn't have one, and thus cannot leave with Leonardo. However, a nearby woman trapped in a lake is crying for help, and Ezio commandeers a gondola and rescues her.

The woman is Caterina Sforza, the Countess of Forlì. She repays Ezio by speaking to the ferry captain and allowing Ezio passage to Venice. Caterina's only other appearance in 'Assassin's Creed II' is in the 'Battle of Forlì' DLC pack.

She plays a larger role in the game's sequel, 'Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'.
6. In which Venetian district is Leonardo's workshop?

Answer: San Marco

As with Florence, Leonardo helps decode the codex pages that Ezio brings to him, but their relationship rarely extends beyond these infrequent visits. However, when Ezio and his allies discover a plot to assassinate the Doge of Venice, Ezio makes use of Leonardo's prototype flying machine to enter the heavily-guarded Palazza Ducale from the rooftops.
7. In Venice, Bartolomeo d'Alviano proves to be a valuable ally, though his infatuation with his sword is strange. What name has Bartolomeo given his sword?

Answer: Bianca

Having been imprisoned by Silvio Barbarigo, Bartolomeo d'Alviano is rescued by Ezio, and the pair fight their way through the streets of Venice's Castello district to Bartolomeo's headquarters. Upon arriving, Bartolomeo desperately scours the building for 'Bianca'. At first, one would assume Bianca is his wife, the way he is searching, but actually Bianca is his sword's name.
8. During Carnevale, Ezio completes four games to win himself what prize?

Answer: Golden Mask

The Golden Mask allows Ezio to enter the private party of Marco Barbarigo during the Carnevale celebrations. The party is the one opportunity Ezio has to locate and assassinate Marco, so it is important that Ezio wins all four games to obtain the mask.

However, Dante Moro (Marco's bodyguard) and Silvio Barbarigo (Marco's cousin) try and cheat their way into claiming the prize, resorting to dirty tactics in their attempts to beat Ezio. Dante ends up winning the mask by bribing the officials, but Ezio is able to pickpocket him and enter the party to bring down Marco.
9. How does Ezio obtain the Auditore cape?

Answer: By depositing all 100 feathers in the box in the Villa Auditore

There are four types of cape that are obtainable in the game. Ezio starts out with the Plain Cape, which doesn't have any special function, aside from being cosmetic. The Medici Cape is given to Ezio by Lorenzo de' Medici after ridding Florence of Jacopo de' Pazzi.

This cape sets Ezio's notoriety to zero when in Florence and Tuscany. When Ezio is inducted into the Assassin order, he is given the Venetian cape, which allows him to remain anonymous in Venice and Romagna. The final cape is the Auditore Cape, obtained by finding all 100 feathers and depositing them at the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni. Unlike the other capes, it sets Ezio's notoriety to maximum in all areas except Monteriggioni.

Interestingly, the Auditore Cape in 'Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood' does the complete opposite: it sets Ezio's notoriety to zero throughout Rome.
10. Where does the final fight against Rodrigo Borgia take place?

Answer: Rome

With the Apple of Eden in his possession, Ezio travels to Rome, and to the papal residence of Castel Sant'Angelo, where Rodrigo Borgia himself has become Pope. After infiltrating the castle, Ezio fights Rodrigo in the chapel for the Staff of Eden, but the battle continues in the secret vault hidden underneath the chapel.

When Ezio finally overcomes Rodrigo, he cannot bring himself to assassinate him, allowing him to leave. A ghostly apparition of Minerva then appears and communicates with Desmond through Ezio.

The game ends, at least for Ezio, with him inside the vault. During the credits, Desmond is playable, and a final scene plays out in which Dr. Vidic from Abstergo has located the Assassin's hideout and tries to capture Desmond and take him back for more testing.

The game finally ends with the quartet escaping in a van.
