Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the spell caster?

Answer: Sypha

Yoko Belnades is the spell caster in "Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow", the "Castlevania" game for the Nintendo DS. She is, of course, a descendant of Sypha.
2. Who was the first character available to join your party?

Answer: Grant DaNasty

Grant, the pirate, joins your party in optional level 2, the Clock Tower of Untimely Death. Grant has the ability to climb on walls and ceilings, and his main weapon is a dagger.
3. How many stages were there total?

Answer: Fifteen

"Castlevania III" features a system where you can select up or down, both of which represent another level. Thus it is possible to go through all the levels, but not in one play through, making this game unique from the first two.
4. What was the first enemy encountered in this game?

Answer: Skeleton

The skeleton is just inside the second room ready to throw bones at you. As a side note, the skeletons in this game look very similar to the Stalfos in "Zelda II: Adventure of Link", just a little more advanced (and without the sword and shield. While on the subject, the same noise is used in this game when Trevor gets hurt as the one used in "Zelda II" when Link gets hurt.
5. How many main characters were on the cover of the game?

Answer: Three

Three characters appear on the game cover. Trevor, Sypha, and Grant; Alucard is not specifically shown. Although there is a bat in the top-left corner, we cannot assume it is him.
6. Where exactly IS Transylvania?

Answer: Romania

Transylvania is an actual place that takes up a rather large part of the Western portion of Romania. Transylvnia is the setting of "Castlevania III", and a few other games in the series.
7. What was Alucard classified as?

Answer: Dhampir

According to The American Heritage Dictionary (Second College Edition), dhampir is not a word... According to reference.com, "Dhampirs are believed to be beings that are half-vampire and half-human, born from a vampire father and a human mother, or the reverse."
8. What company developed this game?

Answer: Konami

The "Castlevania" series was created by Konami, so to anybody that knows that, this question is a given. In "Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow", there is actually an easter egg where the Konami Man flies across the screen.
9. On which older system were there no "Castlevania" games?

Answer: None of these

This game is on the NES (and the Famicom, which is a Japanese system). Then there is "Super Castlevania IV" on the SNES. "Castlevania III" is actually set before the original "Castlevania", though, of course, it was created much later.
10. How many blocks were in Trevor's health?

Answer: 16

Trevor (as, of course, all the other characters do) has 16 life blocks. The bosses in this game also have 16 health blocks, as is the case in the first "Castlevania" game. In the second game, the health bar is setup vertically instead.
