Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Jungle Hijinxs (1-1), is it possible to enter Donkey Kong's treehouse?

Answer: Yes

As could be done in the very first "Donkey Kong Country" level, also called Jungle Hijinxs, you can always backtrack a bit at the very start of the level to reenter DK's home to find a one-up balloon waiting to be claimed. In addition, you can also enter the cave beneath DK's house to find a missing puzzle piece.
As soon as Jungle Hijinxs commences in this game, DK and Diddy need to head out to follow the Tiki Tak Tribe across the jungle; they've just taken DK's banana hoard in their airship and plan to fly away. We can't have that, can we?
2. The level King of Cling (1-2) likely refers to which of the following climbable surfaces in the game, seen for the first time therein?

Answer: Moss/grass

In this level, DK and Diddy have to make their way through jungle caverns and along waterways while hanging on tightly-- green moss lines several corridors on the ceilings and walls, providing excellent grip in otherwise uncrossable terrain. Holding on with the 1 button, DK can move, attack, and even jump from wall to wall to avoid getting hurt.

The latter half of the stage sends the Kongs upward to the finishing barrel, making it the first stage not only to travel left to right, but also upward.
3. After completing the second level of the game, players can access a shop. Who runs the shop in this game?

Answer: Cranky

While Cranky's shops are often sparse in terms of content, the provided items make up for the lack of selection in their quality. Players can purchase one-up balloons in sets of one, three, or seven. They can also get a Heart boost, adding an extra heart to the health bar or Banana Juice to gain invincibility for a short time.

The sixth and final item is Squawks the Parrot, one of only a couple of animal buddies to reappear for the game. Squawks helps by indicating the locations of puzzle pieces in the different levels.
4. What animal companion appears in Tree Top Bop (1-3)?

Answer: Rambi

While the game doesn't fit too many animal companions into the mix across eight worlds, Rambi the Rhino does make a reappearance (his first since "Donkey Kong Country 2", having not been included in the third game on the SNES). In this level, the Kongs need to make their way into the tree canopies while dodging enemies all around. Rambi the Rhino, when located, can, of course, barrel right through crowds of foes with his horn leading the charge. Bulkier to handle than just DK on his own, he also can't fly with Diddy' jetpack.
5. After Tree Top Bop (1-3), the path on the Jungle map splits in two. This can only be done by accessing a secret exit to the level.

Answer: False

While the path will always snake to the left if you happen to complete the level by normal means (leading to level 1-5 alone), the right path will be locked off and only accessible when you purchase a Key from Cranky's Shop after level 1-2. The key is inexpensive and opens an alternate path; no matter what you inevitably rejoin the track on the way to level 1-6 near the end of the Jungle stage. Keys reappear in later stages as well.
6. In Sunset Shore (1-4), what unique occurrence is present?

Answer: DK and Diddy appear as silhouettes

Sunset Shore is an interesting level. Unlocked with a Key from Cranky's Shop, the level, taking place on the coast of the Jungle stage, takes DK and Diddy to a sun-soaked beach as the natural light starts to slip below the horizon. Because of this, from the camera's point of view, DK, Diddy, and all of their obstacles are black (except DK's tie and Diddy's cap).

While the sun can be used to unlock certain things if the camera is positioned correctly, this stylized level has to be done completely in silhouette.
7. How many puzzle pieces can be found in Canopy Cannons (1-5)?

Answer: Five

While some of the earlier levels of the Jungle require more puzzle pieces for perfect scores, Canopy Cannons and some of the other later ones only need five to make a complete puzzle. Found all over the stage, the puzzle pieces are necessary to unlock image gallery content and are a completionist's go-to. On the same note, collecting the K-O-N-G Letters in each level will also be a boon. Canopy Cannons, the fifth level of the Jungle, takes the Kongs into a series of barrels far above the jungle floor. Make sure to weave through the falling ruins; patience is a virtue!
8. What is the name of level 1-6 in the jungle, better known as the first mine cart level in the game?

Answer: Crazy Cart

Crazy Cart hearkens back to the classic mine cart levels of the original "Donkey Kong Country" (as actual mine carts weren't seen in the two SNES sequels). In this introductory ride, the player can get used to the controls of the cart-- DK and Diddy never leave the cart, contrary to levels in earlier games) and the jumps in this track are relatively tame. Of course, by the end of the level they end up careening down a trackless hill and nearly crashing on broken tracks, but it's all part of the ride.
9. How many colours will Mugly be during the boss battle at Mugly's Mound (1-B)?

Answer: Three

Mugly's Mound, the boss battle of the Jungle, brings the Kongs face-to-face with a banana-eating foe hypnotized by one the infamous Kalimba Tiki. The battle begins with Mugly coloured yellow, but the more hits made on his exposed backside will cause him to change into orange and red indicating a heightened amount of power and speed.

When defeated, Mugly will employ some dramatics to end the fight and DK can knock the evil Tiki out of the arena to complete the Jungle.
10. The bonus level of the jungle, Platform Panic, can only be reached when which of the following occurs?

Answer: All K-O-N-G Letters from the Jungle are collected

If the player collects all of the K-O-N-G Letters from any of the stages of the game, they'll unlock the Banana Temple secret level for that particular area. In the Jungle, it happens to be Platform Panic, a level in which DK needs to cross rapidly-appearing (and rapidly-destroyed) platforms covered in Tikis.

The level can be completed quickly, but only with timing and finesse; temple levels tend to put the player's best skills to use. At the end of the level, DK will claim a green orb.
