Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does one need to do before one can have a go at the World Cup of Quidditch?

Answer: Complete all of the House Challenges and win the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup

The House Challenges are your introduction to Quidditch and cover such game elementals as passing, tackling, seeking and goal-scoring. You will also learn how to control your Beaters and Bludgers and how to put together combos. You may play your first Hogwarts match after successful completion of the first three Challenges, but you must pass ALL of the Challenges and win the Quidditch Cup (winning the Cup wins your Hogwarts team tickets to go see the World Cup, and your Seeker and Captain will be shown occasionally at the matches, cheering) before you may play as any of the World Cup teams. Collecting 15 of the Quidditch cards will unlock the Nimbus Two Thousand difficulty level.
2. In the Tackle and Shoot House Challenge, the ghost who helps you practice is whom?

Answer: Edgar Cloggs

Edgar Cloggs is the ghost haunting the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch; there is also an Edgar Cloggs Quidditch Card that you can unlock. Professor Binns (I have no idea if his name is Benjamin; I just wanted to give him a first name and liked how it sounded with "Binns") is the ghostly History of Magic teacher from the "Harry Potter" books and Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, affectionately Nearly Headless Nick, is the Gryffindor House ghost. Nicolas Flamel, however, was a real life alchemist from the fifteenth century who claimed to have invented a stone (history calls it the Philosopher's Stone) that assisted in the transmutation of lead into gold and in the production of a life-giving elixir. Rowling incorporates this legend into her first novel, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".
3. Each World Cup Quidditch team has four Quidditch Cards to unlock. Which of the following is not one of these four common cards?

Answer: Team Mascots

We are first introduced to the Quidditch World Cup in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" when Harry et al attend the final match of Ireland versus Bulgaria. You'll notice two MAJOR differences between the book and "Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup": first of all, you can't play as Ireland. Secondly, although the Irish and Bulgarian teams have mascots in "Goblet of Fire" (leprechauns and Veela respectively), none of the teams in "World Cup" have them.

The fourth Quidditch card common to all of the World Cup teams is Team Photo. Earn a stadium Quidditch Card by beating that team in their stadium. Also, you'll need to unlock your country's Team Special Move before you will gain the ability to use it; check your inventory to see what you need to do. You have to meet the requirements playing as that country, but any difficulty setting will work.
4. There are thirteen Quidditch teams to choose from.

Answer: True

Nine World Cup teams: England, USA, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Bulgaria and the Nordic Team.
Four Hogwarts House teams: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
9 + 4 = 13.
5. How many stadiums can you play in (after having unlocked them all)?

Answer: 12

Nine World Cup stadiums: one each for England, USA, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Bulgaria and the Nordic Team.
Two Hogwarts stadiums: Hogwarts (Summer) and Hogwarts (Winter).
One other stadium: Queerditch.
9 + 2 + 1 = 12.
6. In collection order, the Quidditch Card for Edgar Cloggs is number:

Answer: 104

Quidditch Cards may be collected in any order, except the card for Edgar Cloggs. Cloggs' card is earned only when all of the other 103 cards have been collected, making Cloggs #104.
7. In the animation for England's Special Team Move, what colour trail follows Avery Hawksworth's broom?

Answer: Blue

Hawksworth's trail is blue; the other two of England's Chasers have the red and white trails, the three together forming the colours on the Union Flag. After diving from the clouds (the sound brings to mind the RAF) England's Chasers perform mid-air football moves to pass the Quaffle around the opponent's Chasers and score one goal (many of the other teams' Special Team Moves score two goals).
8. The French National Quidditch stadium features _____ at its centre.

Answer: a fountain and hedge maze

English stadium: medieval castle.
USA stadium: American football field with colonial architecture.
Japanese stadium: nihon teien (Japanese garden featuring water, lilypads and a bridge at the centre).
German stadium: Tudor architecture located in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest).
Australian stadium: the Outback. A didgeridoo plays when a goal is scored.
The Nordic stadium: eerily beautiful carved ice architecture with Aurora borealis in the background.
Spanish stadium: Renaissance cathedral.
Bulgarian stadium: similar to the English medieval castle, except the Bulgarian stadium has a foggy, stone pitch (rather than grassy) and matches are played at night beneath a full moon. I don't know how to describe the noise that accompanies a goal in this stadium, except that it makes my skin crawl! AaaaOOOOooooooOOOOOooooooo!
9. Which stadium's Quidditch card is unlocked when you win the Quidditch World Cup for the first time?

Answer: Queerditch

Queerditch Marsh pitch is old and dusty, and the music is no fresher. The goal hoops, rather than being free-standing, are held at height in a bare-limbed tree (careful; when either Keeper throws the ball into play after a goal or save, the tree is between the camera and the game play making it difficult to see your players). Rumour has it that the Queerditch pitch shown here was where the very first game of Quidditch was played in the eleventh century.
10. The Hogwarts Quidditch team rosters are exactly as they would have been in Harry's first year at Hogwarts (where players' names are given in the books. The game fills in names for the missing ones).

Answer: False

Draco Malfoy is the Slytherin Seeker in "Quidditch World Cup", but in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" the Slytherin Seeker is Terence Higgs. Malfoy doesn't join the team until their second year ("Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets") when his father buys each of the Slytherin players a brand new Nimbus 2001 broom.
