Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Initially, what colour robes does the protagonist wear?

Answer: Red

As the game begins, the sun rises above the desert and a sparkling ball of light flies across the sky from a great mountain in the distance. A lone figure, clad in red, looks up to the sky and heads towards the top of a nearby dune. At the top, the mountain looms mysteriously in the distance.
2. How many symbols are there to find throughout the journey?

Answer: Twenty-one

Hidden in each stage of the journey are symbols, created by that magical light. Collecting a symbol lengthens the protagonist's scarf slightly, allowing them to glide for longer. At the altar at the end of each stage, all the symbols in that stage are displayed on stones: a lit stone indicates that symbol was collected, and an unlit stone means that symbol was not found.
3. If one person wants to attract pieces of cloth to replenish their scarf, or to get the attention of another person, what must they do?

Answer: Press the Circle button to sing

Gliding consumes the magical symbols embroidered on the protagonist's scarf. Whilst collecting symbols will lengthen the scarf, attracting small pieces of cloth that float in groups replenish it. Occasionally, gliding in a strange mist will not use up the scarf and allows indefinite flight.

Singing can also be used to reactivate Ancient Glyphs, to unlock the secrets of the altars at the end of each stage, and to communicate with other people who may accompany the protagonist on their journey. Singing with another person in close proximity will replenish part of their scarf, as well.
4. The protagonist can find references to previous games 'flOw' and 'Flower' during their journey.

Answer: True

Hidden amongst the myriad sand dunes is a lone flower, which emits a short sound when touched. This is a reference to 'Flower', thatgamecompany's second game. Finding the flower unlocks the bronze 'Mirage' trophy.

In the temple, when the protagonist is activating glyphs and causing the mysterious mist to rise to the top of the chamber, they can find a creature, resembling a microscopic organism, floating around inside one room. This is a reference to 'flOw', and also unlocks a trophy, specifically the bronze 'Ancestors' trophy. A similar situation was hidden in 'Flower', where there was a small chamber nestled amongst the hills and canyons of the world.

Both 'flOw' and 'Flower' were selected to be displayed in the Smithsonian Museum as an enduring monument to the art of video games.
5. How many cloth bridge sections are there when the protagonist attempts to cross the broken bridge?

Answer: Four

Ribbons of cloth attached to cages indicate trapped pieces of cloth, which will repair sections of the bridge when freed. There are three main cages scattered around the bridge holding these cloth pieces, with a couple more acting as scarf replenishers.

If the protagonist can cross the broken bridge without fully repairing it, then the bronze 'Threshold' trophy will be unlocked.
6. What is the only threat in the darkened underground passage?

Answer: Fish-like guardians that can reduce the length of the protagonist's scarf

In the darkness and the silence of the underground passage, the ominous and strangely mechanical noises of the guardians creates a rather foreboding atmosphere. If a guardian spots the protagonist in its spotlight, it will home in on and hit the protagonist, causing them to tumble and lose part of their scarf. Keeping to the shadows and hiding inside hollow pipes can keep the protagonist safe from the guardians.
7. What happens when the SELECT button is pressed with another person nearby?

Answer: The protagonist will sit and begin to meditate

Meditating doesn't really offer the protagonist any benefits, as it simply acts as a way to pause their journey as the world continues on around them. If the protagonist and another person come into close proximity and both meditate together for more than twenty seconds, then the bronze 'Reflection' trophy will be unlocked.
8. What happens when the protagonist has collected every symbol on their journey?

Answer: A white cloak with a regenerating scarf is unlocked

At the beginning of the journey, just before accessing the broken bridge stage, the protagonist finds a set of ruined buildings which allow instant access to any previously visited stage. Alongside these are stones with all the symbols engraved on them. As with the altars at the end of each stage, lit stones show collected symbols, and unlit stones uncollected symbols. When all symbols are found, a mysterious beam of white light is created in this area, transforming the protagonist's ordinary red cloak into a pure white one with a scarf that automatically regenerates itself.

Collecting all twenty-one symbols also unlocks the gold 'Transcendence' trophy.
9. When the protagonist finally reaches the top of the mysterious mountain, what happens?

Answer: They walk into the light and fade away

After conquering the desert, rushing through the ruined city, braving the underground passage, surviving the harsh snowy ascent up the mountain, and flying through a heavenly land inhabited by cloth creatures, the protagonist reaches the very top of the mountain which they had been heading towards all along.

As they walk, they become engulfed in a white light and fade away into a state of apotheosis. A sparkling ball of light then flies across the world, returning once more to the desert.
10. Who was the composer for 'Journey', who also scored thatgamecompany's first game, 'flOw'?

Answer: Austin Wintory

Autin Wintory's beautiful compositions grace the empty, desolate landscapes of the world, taking players on an aural journey from the quiet sand dunes of the desert, to the uplifting and soaring heights of the mountain. Wintory's soundtrack was critically acclaimed upon the release of 'Journey', and even more so when it was released separately, rising to the top of many iTunes download charts within days of its release.
