Brock's Geodude is at level 10 in "Pokemon Yellow" and his Onix is at level 12. If you only have Pikachu at this stage of the game, this battle will be tough so it is advised to catch a Mankey or a Caterpie (and evolve it into a Butterfree).

2. Misty is the next Gym Leader, residing in Cerulean City. Has her team changed from her "Red/Blue/Green" team?

Answer: no

Misty's team has not changed. She still has a Staryu at level 18 and a Starmie at level 21. Misty is the only Gym Leader to not have her team changed in the first Generation between games, even their moves are the same.

3. Lt. Surge heads the Vermilion City Gym. His team has changed as he now only has a Raichu. What level is it?

Answer: 28

His old team had a Raichu but it was at the lower level of 24. If you have a Ground type Pokemon, this Raichu should be easily defeated.

4. Like all Pokemon, Lt. Surge's Raichu can only learn up to four moves. It has the moves Thunderbolt, Mega Kick, Mega Punch and what other move?

Answer: Growl

This Raichu has a different moveset to the Raichu in "Red/Green/Blue". In "Red/Green/Blue" the Raichu has Thunderbolt, Thundershock, Thunder Wave and Growl. The "Pokemon Yellow" Raichu (In my opinion) has the better moveset of the two.

5. Erika of the Grass type Pokemon is next. In "Pokemon Yellow" she has a Gloom, a Weepinbell and a Tangela. What level is her Tangela at?

Answer: 30

This Tangela is six levels higher than the "Red/Blue/Green" Tangela. The Gloom and Weepinbell are at level 32, and in "Red/Blue/Green" they had reached their final stage of evolution, but were at the lower level of 29.

In Yellow, he has three Venonats at levels 44, 46 and 48. His level 50 Pokemon is a Venemoth which is the evolved form of Venonat.

This Gym specialises in Fighting type Pokemon and has five trainers inside it. The head of the Gym has two Pokemon: Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. When you defeat him, he allows you to take a Hitmonlee or a Hitmonchan from the pokeballs behind him, but you can't have both of them so choose wisely.

Blaine's Arcanine knows the move Reflect which raises the team's defence. It also knows the moves Fire Blast, Flamethrower and Take Down.

Giovanni's Dugtrio has three Ground type moves: Dig, Fissure and Earthquake. Nidoqueen, Nidoking and Rhydon all have Earthquake and Persian only has Normal type moves. In Generation 1, Sand-Attack (Dugtrio's other move) is classed as a Normal type move; this changed in Generation 2 to a Ground type move.
