Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. She is the wife of the owner of the Katta's Tail Inn. Every few nights, she will perform the dance of fertility in a skimpy outfit. Who is this enticing feline?

Answer: Shema

Shema is a Katta, a type of humanoid cat. You rescued her along with her husband and the merchant Abdulla from Spielburg. She will bring your food every morning and every evening if you wish it, and every few evenings she will dance at the inn. Make sure to attend, so you don't offend the Kattas.
2. He runs a souvenir stall just outside the Katta's Tail Inn. He sells a lot of useless junk, but will also sell you a map of the city, as well as a compass. He is modeled after one of the Marx Brothers. Who is this relentless merchant?

Answer: Ali Chica

The map of Shapeir is an extremely important item, as it allows you to instantly teleport around the city without having to manually walk all the twisting little streets. To get the map you will first have to navigate manually to the moneychanger. Ali Chica's stall will be burned to the ground early in the game, so make sure you buy everything you need before then.
3. He is the local apothecary, and will take care of your various healing needs. He can also mix up Dispel Potions, which are extremely important for finishing the game. Who is the master of the flame?

Answer: Harik

You will make many visits to Harik's store. Most importantly, whenever you acquire monster parts from combat in the desert, you'll want to sell it here for lots of cash. Harik will also provide you with a few items you might need to finish your quest. Thieves will DEFINITELY want to inquire about his inventory, as he sells an item that makes their work so much easier.
4. There's a Katta musician sitting outside the inn on most days, charming a snake with his flute. His name is Sitar, but what is the name of his snake?

Answer: Hissa

If you're a fighter, you should give Sitar a bit of money each time you see him. It may help raise your "Honor" score, which will be important to you if you wish to become a Paladin by the end of the game.

The only way to discover the snake's name is by asking the flower merchant sitting across from him. It's not a plot element though - you don't really need to interact with the musician or his snake at all if you don't want to.
5. This little gnome is sitting on a cloud in a shop filled with many strange and wondrous contraptions, some of which definitely do not belong in a fantasy setting. Who is master of the air?

Answer: Keapon Laffin

Keapon Laffin runs the magic shop in Shapeir. He will sell two new kinds of spells (and possibly also other spells you may have missed during your adventure in Spielburg). Any magic user should pay him an immediate visit upon arrival in the city. Thieves may also find an important item here that will make their adventure a lot easier.

In the new VGA remake of the game, Keapon Laffin will play an interesting game with you, allowing you to practice spellcasting without the risk of death by monsters in the desert. The main reward you'll get from this is the ability to cast a more powerful version of one of your spells.
6. My first is the first. My second is the last. Next comes myself. Then back to the end, and to the beginning again. Who am I?

Answer: Aziza

Aziza the Water-Sorceress is a true fountain of knowledge. She is a seer, and knows much of what goes on inside the city. The question above will be asked when first you ask to enter her residence. She's very strict, so you'll have to be on your best behavior when you go to visit her.

If you're a fighter, bring Aziza flowers every time. It will help raise your Honor score.

If you're a magic user playing the new VGA remake, you might be able to convince her to play a magical minigame with you, to practice your spellcasting and perhaps gain a reward. First, however, you would have to gain a new spellcasting title.
7. Whereever this man goes, his trusty translator goes with him. Who is this enigmatic weaver of prophecies?

Answer: Omar

Omar the poet speaks only in rhymes and riddles. For the benefit of the less-poetically-minded, he has a translator along with him to translate everything he says. Omar's songs will revolve mostly around your role in freeing the land from the evil that besets it.

Omar will serve as one of your liaisons to the Sultan. As such, he will occasionally reward you for defeating evil influence in the city. You'll want to attend his readings at the inn whenever they occur (every few nights).

On one occasion, you will find a purse that Omar dropped. If you're a fighter, make sure you return the purse intact (and don't take any money!). This will help raise your "Honor" score.
8. Not fully man, not fully beast. And yet, more righteous and honorable than any other you will meet in Shapeir. He would've done your work for you, if it were not for his injured leg. Who is the great Paladin of Tarna?

Answer: Rakeesh

Rakeesh is a liontaur - half man, half lion. He hails from the south, a land called Tarna, where he was once king. However, he fought a demon to save his homeland, and was badly injured. He abdicated the throne to his brother, and has gone to Shapeir to help repel evil. But his injuries do not allow him to fight, so you must do that in his stead.

Rakeesh is a Paladin, and is very powerful. He's also a fountain of knowledge about combat, and can tell you much about how to fight the various monsters in the desert. If you're a fighter, Rakeesh will be a crucial player in your progress.

In the next game of the series, you will travel with Rakeesh to his homeland.
9. A Katta merchant sells jewelry near the palace gate. If you save his stall from destruction, he will reward you with a tiny magical item that will help you finish the game. Who is he?

Answer: Sashanan

There are many Katta merchants in the city, and Sashanan is not one of the useful ones. He won't sell anything to you. However, if you save his stall from the Air Elemental, he will give you a Sapphire Pin. This is a magical item, and can only be seen by friends.

Therefore, if ever you are searched and your equipment confiscated, your assailants will not take the pin because they cannot see it. And if you meet a friend who doesn't trust you, show him the pin to prove your identity!
10. Uhuru is a fierce warrior from the nomadic tribes of the savannah. He is very skilled in combat arts, and he will gladly teach you how to fight the many monsters in the desert. He is also the head of the adventurer's guild, and you will meet him again in the next "Quest for Glory" adventure.

Answer: False

Not "He", but "She"! Not "Uhuru", but "Uhura"! In her tribe, the Simbani, it is unacceptable for a woman to be both a warrior and a mother. But Uhura wanted to raise a child, so she left her tribe and went to Shapeir. Here, she met a captain in the guard and bore a strong son which she named "Simba". Now she is both a warrior and a mother.

You will accompany Uhura back to her home tribe in the next game of the series.
11. In the desert there grows one tree. Once a long time ago it was a woman who sought to escape her vicious pursuers. A djinni heard her call, and morphed her into a tree, and she still stands there to this day. Before she became a tree, what was her name?

Answer: Julanar

To finish the game you will have to return Julanar's hope to her. To do this you must give her three gifts, and one of those gifts is the memory of her name. In return for all you've done, she will grow for you a fruit of compassion, one of the ingredients for a Dispel Potion which you will definitely need.
12. Roget the Saurus will be your trusty beast of burden as you journey into the deserts. He's not much of a good mount however, because he will panic at the sight of any monster or attacker, leaving you to fend for yourself. But he does hide an important secret, for he is not really a Saurus. What is his real name?

Answer: Arus Al-Din

Roget is really the morphed Arus Al-Din, the Emir (prince) of Raseir. When the forces of darkness took over the city, he was turned into a cowardly Saurus. Now, Raseir has become a shadow of its former self, and is under the control of a powerful sorcerer.
13. In the city of Raseir, there is little actual business going on at all. However, one man is running a successful racket of smuggling all sorts of things in and out of the city. Who is this shady character?

Answer: Signor Ferrari

Ferrari - errr - Signor Ferrari is not a dangerous man per-se, but he demands respect. He'll keep his business shady, and while he'll give you a little bit of information, he's not too interested in your quest or your attempts to restore Raseir to its former glory.

But he has no love for the captain of the guard nor his men, and if you have the proper skill, he may even offer you a job in removing some valuable items from the possession of that guard captain.
14. The daughter of the current Emir of Raseir is in trouble. She is set to marry the horrible captain of the guard, and needs your help to escape the city. What is the name of this beautiful damsel in distress?

Answer: Zayisha

To help Zayisha escape, you would have to give her a spare set of clothes, and also your visitor's visa. This is a dangerous prospect - if you're caught without a visa you will surely be imprisoned! Is it a risk you are willing to take? Unfortunately, you have little choice in the matter.
15. And finally, the source of all evil in the land is a dark sorcerer who has taken control of the entire city of Raseir. What is his name?

Answer: Ad Avis

Ad Avis is exceptionally dangerous. His eyes can charm you into thinking he is a friend, and his spells can turn you into an animal most resembling your soul. He was once the Emir's vizier (adviser), but has plans to awaken an ancient demon and gain, well, probably world dominance.

If you can defeat Ad Avis, you will have freed the city of Raseir from evil, and gained the title of Hero of Shapeir. But no matter what you do, Ad Avis will return to haunt you later in your adventure.
