I enjoy most types of wine - but I have a preference for Loire Valley wines - mainly because I go there at least once a year amd bring back the stuff myself. Been to see a lot of wine producers - very interesting! Reply #4. Mar 10 10, 2:22 AM |

I drink both wine and beer, depending on where I am. I can't drink beer at home and i don't drink wine down the pub. As for wine South East Australia produces some good ones, as does Chile. They're the one's I tend to go for, but not a Chardonnay, unless it's mixed with something like a Semillon or a Chenin Blanc. With reds, when I drink it, I do tend to go for something like a St Emillion. Reply #5. Mar 10 10, 3:04 AM |

Red wine rules -it's the nectar of the intelligent-I'm not sure about Spanish reds but I KNOW South Australian reds(Clare Valley) are as good as you can get; as good, if not better, than the French wine. Reply #6. Mar 10 10, 4:52 AM |

Wine is a hobby of mine. I drink about a bottle of wine every day. I have a strong preference for red wine, but will drink white or rose if eating food that calls for it. It is very difficult to say what country produces the "best" wines. Many countries produce excellent wines. In terms of highest average quality, I'd say that Bordeaux produces the best wines. High demand, limited quantity, and speculation have driven Bordeaux prices through the roof, however. In terms of value for the money, the wines of Australia and Chile deliver best bargains. Avoid like the plague any wine made in Illinois. Reply #8. Mar 10 10, 9:05 AM |

I'm not a big wine drinker, but I'll drink white wine if it's being served and I have even ordered in it in restaurants if it's like a pasta meal (things like margaritas just don't always go well with dinner, lol). I'll sip a glass of red too, but I like it less than white. Wine is not really my go-to drink of choice, though. Reply #9. Mar 10 10, 10:29 AM |

I do cook with wine but really don't care for the taste of wine by itself.I will drink the sweet, fruity wines and Champagne. Reply #11. Mar 10 10, 11:27 AM |

I'm not a fan of sweet, fruity wines. I like the Spanish reds precisely because many of them are dry and nut-like and taste a bit of the rich soil they come from. (Beloved soil, I might add; my drinking the wine has a strong sentimental component.) Reply #12. Mar 10 10, 12:02 PM |

I only like the occasional Port with my beer. Port is a wine isn't it? Reply #13. Mar 11 10, 5:34 AM |

Uh huh I do drink wine. Usually with food. I prefer reds over whites and I have to agree with Lochalsh that Spanish are the best. By the way Lochalsh, I sent you a pm regarding one in particular. Reply #14. Mar 13 10, 10:19 AM |

Love NZ Sauvignon Blanc and particularly partial to Fleurie (Gamay grape)... but getting a bit pricey these days. Quite happy with a Chilean Merlot for everyday drinking with dinner. Reply #15. Mar 13 10, 10:37 AM |

On the rare occasions when I drink wine I'm a white wine drinker because red wine gives me headaches (something to do with the nitrates, I'm told). My wine drinking is usually confined to a glass with dinner, so I prefer the dry to the sweet. Other than a meal with friends I'm not a wine drinker, beer makes me sleepy and I don't like the taste, and I don't care for liquor (other than a nip of Drambuie or Cointreau at Christmas). I usually opt for Virgin Caesars at restaurants, receptions and so on. Reply #16. Mar 15 10, 2:17 PM |

I prefer white wine over red wine. Especially a really good Chardonay or Ceiraz. I am currently taking a world of wines course and have learned to appriciate different types of wine. Before I enrolled in the course I would only drink White Zenfendel which is ok wine but Chardonay is much better. I must have red wine with a nice stake or any other red meat for that matter. I like white wine with chicken. As far as drinking, I like wine the best. Zenfendel is really red! Reply #18. Mar 15 10, 7:50 PM |
