Subject: Newest CD?

We used to have a thread about this, but it seems to have fallen off the edge - if I've missed it, mods please delete this.

What's the most recent CD you've gotten? For me, I just received my Long John Baldry collection "A Thrill's a Thrill" yesterday in the mail, and couldn't be happier - "Don't try to lay no boogie-woogie on the king of rock and roll!"

Benny Goodman's 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert. The lineup is astounding. As well as Goodman there is, amongst other giants of jazz and swing:
Gene Krupa, Harry James, Teddy Wilson, Jess Stacy, Johnny Hodges, Cootie Williams, Count Basie. Even with the snap, crackle and pop audio and the primitive recording methods available back then, it's a treat. Some amazing solos. Harry James on trumpet and Jess Stacy on piano are transcendent on the 12 minute version of Sing Sing Sing. Then there's the 16 minute jam of Honeysuckle Rose with Lester Young and Harry Carney wailing away on saxophone. Freddie Green on Guitar. And to think this concert was 80 years ago. Stunning! 38 tracks in total, Martha Tilton sings on a couple of them. An essential addition to anyone's collection.

I got Meg Myer's first CD "Sorry" for my birthday. I had heard "Sorry," "Desire," and "Lemon Eyes" before. I had no clue how much I would love it!!! All of it!
So I went and got her latest CD, "Take Me To The Disco," which is great as well!

This isn't new, bought it two weeks ago, but have been raving about it on other threads. Venus Gets Even by Nadeah. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
