8. The letter X is worth 8 points, as is the letter J. Only the letters Q and Z are worth more, at 10 points each. Scrabble is an international game and the value of each letter varies in different versions according to the frequency with which the letter is used in any given language. For example, in the German version, X is worth 10. Scrabble was invented by Alfred Butts in the 1930’s but the game was not marketed until 1948. Butts studied the front page of the New York Times to get an estimate of the frequency with which the letters were used, which helped him to determine the value he assigned to the letters and the number of tiles per letter to be used.

xenon. The only element whose name starts with an "X" is xenon. Xenon is a heavy, colourless, odourless, tasteless gas present in our atmosphere. It belongs to a group of elements called noble gases. It was originally thought to be chemically unreactive but it is not completely inert as it will form compounds with oxygen and fluorine.

Andrew. St Andrew was one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. He is also patron saint of Greece, Russia and Scotland. St Andrew was crucified in Patras, Greece, because he refused to renounce Jesus. He changed his last name to X when he joined the Nation of Islam, a Black Muslim sect, as he considered that Little was a "slave name" bestowed by white slave-holders. X signified his lost tribal name. El-hajj Malik El-Shabazz was his Muslim name. He was assassinated in 1965.

Denzel Washington. In 1992, the movie "Malcolm X" was released starring Denzel Washington in the title role. The movie was based on the book "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" which was co-written by Alex Haley. The movie received Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Denzel Washington) and Best Costume Design.
