      Agamemnon. Agamemnon inadvertantly offended Artemis by killing one of her sacred animals. (Some legends say he offended her by boasting that his hunting skills exceeded those of Artemis). To atone for his offence, Agamemnon was advised by the prophet Calchas to sacrifice Iphigenia. This sacrifice of Iphigenia, would become the justification for the death of Agamemnon by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus.
