Peter. See Galatians 2:11-21. This passage emphasizes the importance of not imposing unnecessary customs and rules on believers. Faith is more important.
Naomi. See Ruth 1:20-1 The name Naomi means 'pleasant' and the name Mara means 'bitter'.
{$32,000} According to the Gospel of John, how many baskets of leftovers were gathered up after the feeding of the five thousand? | Millionaire Style Bible Quiz
|
12. See John 6:1-13. This passage mentions 5,000 men being fed at one time, but it is likely that there were more people than this, as the women and children would not have been counted.
{$16,000} When the twelve spies returned from the Promised Land, how many gave a bad report of what they had seen? | Millionaire Style Bible Quiz
|
10. See Numbers 13:26-33 and 14:1-9. Joshua and Caleb were the only two who believed that the Israelites could conquer the land.
Mary (his mother). See John 2:5. This happened at the wedding of Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle, the turning of water into wine.
Peter. See Acts 2:14-41. What a contrast to the way Peter was just before the crucifixion, when he denied Jesus three times. (See Matthew 26:69-74)
Joseph. See Genesis 41. Whilst in prison, he had also interpreted dreams for a baker and a cup-bearer. These came true, with the baker being executed and the cup-bearer being released and restored to his post. He promised to get Joseph released because of his help, but he forgot until Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret.
[$1,000,000] How old was Abraham when God called him to leave his country, his people and his father's household to go to a land that God would show him? | Millionaire Style Bible Quiz 2
|
75. See Genesis 12:1-4. It is a wonderful encouragement to those of us who have grey hair to see all that God did through Abraham in his later years.
Vashti. See Esther 2:17. Esther was Jewish, but she hid her nationality from the king and he chose her for her great beauty after Vashti had displeased him by refusing to appear before him when he summoned her (Esther 1:10-21).
Bigthana and Teresh are two of the palace guards mentioned in Chapter 2 and Abihail was Esther's father (2:15).
No one knows for certain. Unlike many of the New Testament letters, no one is named as the author in the introduction. In fact, the author launches into his subject without any form of greeting, which is unusual. Several people, such as Paul or Timothy, have been suggested as possible authors. It is unlikely to have been Timothy as he is mentioned in the third person in Hebrews 13:23.
When I was a student 30 years ago, one of the jokes then current was that the author must have been a woman, because only a woman could say that she had written a short letter, when it was 13 chapters long! (See Hebrews 13:22.)
Of course, the original Greek manuscript would not have had been divided into chapters and verses, but that is not the point.
Jeremiah. See Jeremiah Chapter 18.

|
Dorcas. See Acts 9:36-42. God raised this lady from the dead through Peter's prayers.
[$32,000] In Acts 12 Peter is released from prison and goes to John Mark's house, where they are having a prayer meeting for his release. Who do those gathered think is at the door? | Millionaire Style Bible Quiz 2
|
Peter's angel. The servant girl recognized Peter's voice, but did not open the door to him (verse 14). Because they had not seen him, the others found it hard to believe that God had answered their prayers in such a dramatic way.
Simon. See Mark 1:29-31. This was before Jesus gave Simon the name Peter (Matthew 16:13-20).
[$8,000] Jesus told his followers to forgive those who offend them how many times, as related in the New International Version? | Millionaire Style Bible Quiz 2
|
77. See Matthew 18:22. Some versions translate this as 70 x 7. I think Jesus is really telling us not to keep a score of how many times we forgive someone, as most of us would lose count before we got to 77, and still less remember up to 490!
Rachel. See Genesis 35:24. Rachel is one of several women in the Bible who was unable to bear children initially and of whom it is said that God granted their desire. See Genesis 30:1-2 and 22-24. Childlessness in the Old Testament was considered to be a sign of God's displeasure.
5. See 1 Samuel 17:40. Although David picked up 5 stones, he only used one, as he knocked down Goliath with his first shot (verse 49). He then cut off Goliath's head.
Peter. John 13:9. In this passage Jesus sets his followers a wonderful example of serving each other.
they walked across. See Joshua 3. As soon as the priests set foot in the water, God parted the waves, so that all the Israelites could cross on dry land.
Peter. See Galatians 2:11-21. Although on one level their argument was over whether non-Jewish converts to Christianity should be circumcised or not, on a deeper level, Paul can be seen as arguing that justification before God comes by faith and not by works.
Congratulations: if you got all the answers correct, you have won a virtual $1 million! :)
Belteshazzar. See Daniel 1:6 for Daniel's Persian name. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were Daniel's 3 friends, who were thrown into the fiery furnace (Daniel 3).
Nathanael. See John 1:43-51. Philip met Jesus and was so impressed by him that he brought Nathanael to meet him. Nathanael was very sceptical, but, following this encounter with Jesus, he became one of his first disciples.
a wave of the sea. See James 1:6: "But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
a servant girl. See 2 Kings 5. Although this girl had a lowly position in Naaman's household, having been brought as a captive to work for Naaman's wife, she obviously had faith in God and His servant, Elisha.
Achan. See Joshua Chapter 7. This came immediately after the Israelites' great victory at Jericho. Achan's sin was to take some of the spoils from Jericho and keep them, rather than dedicating them to the Lord, which often meant destroying them (see verse 11).
Carmi, Zimri and Zerah are 3 of Achan's ancestors, as listed in this chapter.
300. See Judges 7. He started with many more, but the Lord told him that 300 was enough.
Judah. See Genesis 37. Reuben argued that they should throw him into a pit, rather than killing him, because he planned to rescue him later and return him to his father, Jacob (verses 21-2). But it was Judah who persuaded them to sell Joseph to the Ishmaelites (verse 26).
They then dipped Joseph's coat in goat's blood and took it back to Jacob as proof of his death (verses 31-5). No DNA testing in Old Testament times!
Joseph's brothers did this because they were jealous of the fact that he was Jacob's favourite and also because Joseph had boasted to them about the dreams he had had (verses 1-11).
in the winepress. See Judges 6:11. Gideon was threshing wheat in the winepress, because he was afraid of the Midianites. It is interesting, therefore, that the Angel of the Lord addresses him as 'mighty warrior' (verse 12).
12. See Luke 3:41-51. After much searching, Mary and Joseph found him in the temple, where he was asking questions of the teachers. Everyone who heard him was astonished at his understanding and answers.
Sycamore-fig. See Luke 19:1-10. Zacchaeus' encounter with Jesus produced in him a complete change of lifestyle.
