Nick Swisher. Nick is a second generation Major League Baseball player. His father was former catcher Steve Swisher.
Jacksonville Jaguars. Byron was once carried down the field by two linemen from Marshall, when he had a broken leg and wanted to continue in the game. He was drafted seventh overall in the 2003 draft.
Former Syracuse University football coach. Schwartzwalder is a West Virginia native and former WVU player who went on to coach Syracuse, and the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy, Ernie Davis. The Schwartzwalder Trophy is named in his honor and given yearly to the winner of the Syracuse/West Virginia football game.

Sam Huff. Sam Huff later had an illustrious career as a linebacker for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins, wearing the #70 in the NFL.
