Amazing Race 10
Seattle. In this eleventh leg of the race, teams began at the starting line in Gas Works Park, the finish line for the third season of the show. Teams were told to head to the airport and take one of the two assigned planes to Beijing, China. Once there, teams needed to take a taxi to the Gold House Restaurant where they would obtain their next clue. Six teams were placed on each flight.
Fish Eyes. At the Gold House Restaurant, teams had their first Road Block. Here, they had to choose one person who was hungry to stay in the race. Once the team member was chosen, they had to eat fish eyes from a bowl of cooked fish heads. Once all of their fish eyes were eaten they'd receive their next clue leading them to the Meridian Gate in the Forbidden City of Beijing.
Bilal and Sa'eed. Teams raced for a time at Meridian Gate that would tell them when they departed the following morning. The final team to arrive and pick their time was Bilal and Sa'eed, and although they didn't actually arrive at a Pit Stop, Phil told them that they were the first team to be eliminated during the race. This was the first of many surprises mentioned at the beginning of the race. The following morning, teams departed at 7:00, 7:15, and 7:30.
Nine. Departing from Meridian Gate, teams had to travel to the intersection of 14 Hou Hai and North Bank Road. Here, teams needed to find a pedicab manager for their Detour. This Detour has the choice between 'Labour' and 'Leisure'. In 'Labour', teams had to take a pedicab one mile to a marketplace where they had to pave a 45 square foot of space with bricks. Nine teams completed this task. In 'Leisure', teams had to travel two miles by pedicab in order to find a group of people participating in a new form of exercise. Once they completed the rhythmic movements, they would receive their next clue. Two teams completed this task.
Vipul and Arti. After the Detour, teams traveled by taxi to the Pit Stop at Juyongguan, an entrance to the Great Wall of China. Before checking in, teams needed to climb up one side of the wall. At the top, teams found Phil and the mat. The first team to arrive, Tyler and James, won $20,000. The eleventh team to arrive, Vipul and Arti, became the second team to be eliminated; the first at a Pit Stop.
Mongolia. In Leg 2, teams departed from Juyongguan and were told to travel 963 miles by bus and train to outer Mongolia and the capital city of the country, Ulaanbaatar. Teams took one of two buses, both departing two hours apart to Erenhot, China and took trains to Mongolia. Once in Ulaanbaatar, teams had to visit a temple and attend a local ceremony which would occur every ten minutes.
Horse. After attending a Mongolian ceremony, teams were told to travel to the village of Terelj in a Russian army Jeep. Here, teams had to drive to the riverbed where they could dress in Mongolian attire and saddle up onto horses and ride two and a half miles to their next clue in a local meadow. On the way to the village, teams had trouble with their cars, and their horses causing them to fall behind.
Bow and Arrow. After the Detour, teams needed to drive to the Hotel Mongolia in a town forty-seven miles away. During th Road Block, teams were instructed to 'Aim High'. For the task, teams had to shoot flaming arrows and hit target on the ground. Peter, Tyler, Lauren, Tom, Kimberly, Dustin, David, Godwin, Lyn, and Kellie participated in this task.
Peter and Sarah. After the Road Block, teams ran to a nearby pavilion, the Pit Stop for the second leg of the race. Sarah and Peter arrived first and won a trip for two to Mexico from Travelocity. Kellie and Jamie were the last to arrive at the Detour in Leg 2, and due to the strain that the physical task put on Kellie, the team quit the race and became the third team to be eliminated.
Hanoi. In the beginning of Leg 3, teams were instructed to travel to Hanoi, Vietnam. Here, they would need to travel to Hau Lau Prison (aka the Hanoi Hilton). Teams departed with no extra money and were told not to beg or sell items during the leg. Also, teams had to reserve seats on a flight at the travel agency in the Genghis Khan Hotel. On the way to the prison, teams had to avoid a car crash and Duke and Lauren were forced to hand over their last $11. Teams waited until 8:00am for their next clue.
$5. At the prison, teams needed to find Senator John McCain's old flight suit amongst the maze-like passages. Here, teams were told to travel one and a half miles to a nearby intersection in Hanoi's Old Quarter Marketplace. Here they obtained the Road Block. During this task, teams needed to sell enough flowers for 80,000 Vietnamese Dollars (approx. $5 US dollars). After the task was complete, teams could keep the money they made.
Erwin and Godwin. After the Road Block, teams needed to travel by bus thirty miles to the town of Vac. Here, teams needed to travel by foot to a nearby Buddhist Temple called Din Vac. Once there, teams could find their clue. On the way, teams were scattered on five buses. When Tom and Terry arrived in Vac, they broke a rule stating that they could not ride a motorbike in Vietnam due to safety reasons. Because of this, they were penalized later in the leg.
Eight. Once teams receive the clue in Vac, they began their Detour. Teams could choose between 'Fuel' and 'Fowl'. In 'Fuel', teams had to take wet coal from a communal pile in a small courtyard and use a contraption to press it into coal bricks. Once teams had thirty bricks of appropriate size, they would receive their clue. In 'Fowl', teams had to find a different courtyard. Here, teams needed to construct a birdcage using the proper materials for their clue.
Duke and Lauren. After the Detour, teams were instructed to travel by foot to the next Pit Stop, a local rice field. The first team to arrive (after completing the 'Fuel' Detour task, was Edwin and Godwin, and because of their victory they won a state-of-the-art home entertainment system. Terry and Tom cut it close during the Pit Stop. Due to their penalty they were pushed to eighth place. In the end, Duke and Lauren (the only team to compete in the 'Fowl' task) were eliminated from the race.
Peter. The clue at Hydrofoil Harbor was a Road Block. Teams needed to choose a team member with strong arms and legs. In this task, teams needed to boat to a nearby cliff where the chosen teammate needed to use mechanical gear to ascend ninety feet up the cliff wall. At the top, teams could repel down with their next clue. David, Terry, Rob, Sarah, Karlyn, Godwin, Tyler, and Dustin completed this task.
One. After the Road Block, teams were instructed to travel 1.2 miles by boat to Sung Sot Cave to search for their clue. Here they found the Detour. For the 'Over' task, teams needed to ride a boat to a large boat called a junk where they could board a sampan. Then, they'd need to find a provision boat and deliver two loads of cargo to different addresses. Once they returned their two invoices back to the provision ship, they could receive their clue. Lyn and Karlyn completed this task.
Thirty. In the 'Under' Detour task, teams took a junk to an area where they could take a sampan to a local pearl field. Here, teams needed to pull thirty oyster traps from underwater into their boat. Once this was done, teams could take them to a local oyster dealer who would count them and give them their clues. All of the teams excluding Lyn and Karlyn completed this task.
Tom and Terry. Following the Detour, teams had to take their sampan back to their junk, then travel nine miles to a beach on Soi Sim Island, one of the many islands in the bay. Here, teams could find Phil and the mat. Rob and Kimberly were first to arrive and because of this they won jet skis for both of them. Tom and Terry were the last to arrive following the tough Detour, and they were eliminated because of it.
Chennai. Teams departed from their Pit Stop in Halong Bay in the middle of the night, and they were instructed to go to Chennai, India. To do this, teams needed to take a train to Hanoi, then visit a travel agency for their tickets. Along the way, teams were split up arriving in different cities at different times for connecting flights. Peter and Sarah and Dustin and Kandice got the earliest flight, arriving at 7:20am, while four other teams got a flight at about 9:30am. David and Mary were not able to connect on this flight after taking the risk to fly to Delhi, so they took a flight set to arrive at 10:00am.

After this, teams could receive their clue and drive to the pit stop. Peter, Dustin, Rob, Godwin, Lyn, Tyler, and David completed the Road Block in this leg.
David and Mary. Following the Road Block, teams needed to drive to the Chettinad House, the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. The first team to arrive, Peter and Sarah, won a home gym system. The last team to arrive at the Pit Stop, David and Mary, were not eliminated. Instead, they were 'marked for elimination'. Unlike previous races, they kept their belongings and money, but they were forced to arrive at the Pit Stop in the proceeding leg in first or else they would get a thirty minute time penalty.
Kuwait. In the beginning of Leg 6, teams were required to fly to Kuwait City. To do this, teams needed to purchase tickets at a travel agency in Chennai, then fly 2,400 miles to the country of Kuwait. The first clue was a video clue from Phil on a Nokia cell phone, so teams needed to figure out where they were going simply using a picture. Once teams drove to the Kuwait Towers, they'd receive their next clue.
David and Mary. At the Kuwait Towers, teams took an elevator and took a number at the top for their clue. Here, teams obtained the Road Block and one of only two optional Fast Forwards. For the Fast Forward, the participating team needed to drive eighteen miles to an oil field. Here, they needed to suit up and face a simulated oil well fire using flame resistant clothing and a heat shield to reach a clue box. David and Mary attempted the task and obtained the clue.

Though the task was quite difficult and required muscle power, teams could go at their own pace. In 'Automatic', teams drove to the Kuwait Camel Racing Club. Using robotic jockeys, teams needed to race a camel 140 yards down a race track with voice activated and automatic controls to receive their clue. Three teams completed each task.
Peter and Sarah. David and Mary were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, the Al-Sadiq Water Towers, because of the Fast Forward they acquired. The couple, who were marked for elimination in the previous race, had their possible thirty minute penalty removed because they placed first. They also won a trip to Southwest Jamaica for accomplishing the first place finish. Peter and Sarah were unable to find the Detour in Kuwait City, and because of this they were eliminated from the race.
Mauritius. Teams departed from the Pit Stop in Oman and were told to travel to the island country of Mauritius. Once there, teams would find their clues in their cars. All of the teams departed to Mauritius on the same flight.
Model ships. Once teams found their cars in Mauritius, they found their clue in the form of a model ship. Teams needed to drive to Isla Mauritia in Grand Baie, and once there, they had to swim to the boat for their next clue. Once teams swam back to the shore, they could open the clue. This told teams to travel forty-nine miles to Case Noyale Post Office.
None of these. At the Post Office, teams obtained their Detours. In 'Salt', teams needed to drive two miles to a local salt bed and search in three piles of salt for a salt shaker containing their clue. Although five different teams began this task, none of them completed it when they realized that some of the shakers only contained pepper. Dustin and Kandice did not attempt this task.
