|
Brandon and Nicole. Ranking at number ten on the list, Dubai is probably most famous for the Burj Al Arab Hotel. In the Dubai leg, teams went to the heliport of the Burj Al Arab to retrieve their clue. The detour required teams to either drive across the desert at the Margham Red Dunes, or skydive over the same desert. After this, teams checked in at the non-elimination pit stop, and Kami and Karli arrived last.
Number 9 on the list is in Sydney, Australia. At the Sydney Opera House, teams found the Road Block. What is one person that the teams didn’t have to find? | Top Ten "Amazing Race" Destinations
|
An earbashing larrikin. The chosen team member had to walk around Sydney receiving clues from people in order to find out where the pit stop was. The only catch was that all of his clues would be written in Australian slang. ‘A Sheila in the Aussie Cozzie’ was a woman in a bathing suit, ‘a surfie in lairy daks’ was a surfer wearing flashy shorts, and a true blue ankle-biter was a child wearing blue. The people who completed this task were Blake, Wil, Oswald, Dave, and Alex. Afterwords, they went to the pit stop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The next leg of the race took teams to Cooper Pedy, Australia as well as on a tour up the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
In season five (once again), teams headed to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where they performed the Detour of the final leg of the race. How many teams attempted to ride their mountain bikes down a slalom ski hill in the ‘Ride’ Detour task? | Top Ten "Amazing Race" Destinations
|
One . Brandon and Nicole originally attempted the task, but decided to change it when they knew that they definitely couldn’t complete the course in three minutes. All of the teams completed the ‘Slide’ Detour task which required that the teams complete a luge run at the Olympic Stadium in under thirty-four seconds; the qualifying time for amateurs. After completing the task, teams were instructed to fly to Dallas, Texas where they’d find their final clue at the Fort Worth Stockyards as well as the finish line at Trammell Crow Park.
Kami and Karli. In this leg of the race, teams left India and race to Auckland. The drove to the Rotorua Museum and found their detour clue which would either take them sledging (whitewater rafting with body boards) or it would take them digging through the mud. After this, teams participated in a Road Block where the chosen team member would inflate a zorb ball and roll down a hill inside it. They then walked to a finish line and received a clue taking them to the Pit Stop at the top of a hill nearby. Colin, Chip, Karen, Karli, and Brandon performed this task.
Yes. Ray and Deana took the Fast Forward and narrowly beat Rob and Amber to the location. To complete the Fast Forward, the team needed to make their way to the top of a cooling tower, then cross a wobbly, narrow bridge overtop of it. Ray and Deana were allowed to skip all of the tasks and go to the Pit Stop down the road from a house where Nelson Mandela once lived in Soweto. Although they arrived first during this leg of the race, they arrived last in Botswana during the next leg of the race.
Number five is Sigiriya, Sri Lanka from season six. Teams were able to arrive merely weeks before the tsunami hit and got to experience the vibrant culture of the country. What type of animal did teams have a choice to ride in the Detour task? | Top Ten "Amazing Race" Destinations
|
Elephant. The Detour offered a choice between the tasks ‘Elephant Trunks’ or ‘Tree Trunks’. In ‘Elephant Trunks’, teams had to ride an elephant across a polo field while hitting a ball with a mallet, then go around a pole and head back again. The only team to complete this task was Freddy and Kendra. The rest of the teams completed ‘Tree Trunks’ which required teams to climb a coconut tree, and then cross a rope walkway to receive sap. In this leg of the race, Lori and Bolo were eliminated for arriving at the Pit Stop near Lion’s Rock in last place.
Number four on the list was in season six as well. In Grindavik, Iceland, teams complete their first leg of the race. What team was first to arrive at the Pit Stop? | Top Ten "Amazing Race" Destinations
|
Hayden and Aaron. The teams set out from Boston, Massachusetts and raced to Reykjavik , Iceland where they went to the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, slept on Europe’s largest glacier, and completed a Detour by either scaling an ice wall or boating amongst glaciers. Teams checked in at the Pit Stop at The Blue Lagoon Resort and Hot Springs and Avi and Joe were eliminated. After this leg of the race, teams continued to travel through Scandinavia by visiting Norway and Sweden before heading south to Senegal.
In third place, teams arrived at a Pit Stop in season five at Lake Manyara, Tanzania. What did team members have to eat at the Road Block in Tanzania? | Top Ten "Amazing Race" Destinations

Ostrich Egg. The chosen team member had to cook, then eat one full ostrich egg; roughly the contents of two dozen chicken eggs. After this, teams would take a zipline over a 230-foot gorge and run to the Pit Stop at Lake Manyara Lookout. The first team to arrive was Chip and Kim, and the eliminated team was Charla and Mirna. After this leg of the race, teams raced to Dubai, United Arab Emirates; number ten on this list.
Yes. After arriving in last place, Tian and Jaree were the seventh team eliminated from the race. The Pit Stop was located on the riverbank at a location known as the finish line for many local boat races. During this leg of the race, teams were dragged by bulls, rode elephants, and experienced culture shock in India. They had previously done one leg of the race in Mumbai, a more congested area of the country. Future races took teams to Kolkata, Lucknow, Jodhpur, and Aishbagh.
Maracana Stadium. Teams began the race outside Las Vegas and raced to Rio de Janeiro. Teams climbed down mountains, slept on the beach, and checked in at the Pit Stop on the yacht, Tocorime in Urca Bay. The final team to arrive was Deidre and Hilary, and they were eliminated. In the second leg, teams continued through Brazil and traveled to Iguacu Falls.
Economy. The reason for economy is First Class is more expensive for the production. However, they may get First or Business Class as long as they paid for economy.
They get a replacement vehicle. If a team's car breaks down even though it wasn't their fault, they will get a replacement vehicle. However a time credit will not be given for this situation.
You got your money and luggage taken away. Also, you won't receive any money for the next leg and you have to start the next leg with no money. In season 10, the penalty was different. You would have to come in first on the next leg or incur a 30 minute penalty.
Nothing. It's okay to switch a Detour because you don't know what the other task is like. Actually the only penalty is naturally lost time.
Wait for an hourglass to run out. If you want to Yield a team, put a picture of the team you want to yield on the Yield Sign. However you may only use one yield in the race.
Heather and Eve. Heather and Eve took a taxi to the pit stop instead of walking, were given a penalty of 37 minutes, and were eliminated. Although Andre and Damon took the shortcut penalty, they weren't eliminated.
Airline tickets. All other purchases besides tickets must be paid with money supplied to them. In season 8, the credit card was for airline tickets and gasoline since they did a lot of driving.
6. The reason is that in season 5, the three final teams were coed. The males had done 12 or 11 roadblocks and the girls did only one. This rule was enforced in season 6.
They must finish their task before checking in. In season 3, Derek and Drew couldn't find the roadblock clue and had to finish it and got eliminated. In season 5, Chip and Kim and Kami and Karli couldn't find their Detour clue and had to find it before checking in.
Lake and Michelle. Lake and Michelle took a bus to a train station when they had to take a train, but it didn't matter since they arrived last at the pit stop. Although BJ and Tyler (or the hippies) got the penalty, it didn't affect their placement.
BJ and Tyler. On the second non-elimination leg, they got their cash, shoes, and pants taken away! This didn't stop them from winning the race!
