Star Blazers
Finish the line to the theme song: 'Through the fire and the smoke...'? | 'Star Blazers'
|
we will never give up hope. 'We're off through outer space...we're leaving Mother Earth...to save the human race... our Star Blazers.'
During the second season, what new enemy did the Star Blazers face? | 'Star Blazers'
|
The Comet Empire. The Star Blazers did encounter giant bees in one episode, (it gave me nightmares), but they fought the Comet Empire on their return to Earth from Iscandar.
What was the name of the smart-aleck robot who constantly offered his advice to the crew members? | 'Star Blazers'
|
IQ-9. A very funny addition to the crew.
Derek Wildstar. Wildstar referred to himself as the 'deputy captain' and commanded the Argo from the navigator's seat. He did not wish to sit in Captain Avatar's chair.
Where did the Argo have to go in order to obtain the Cosmo DNA device that would rid Earth of the deadly radiation? | 'Star Blazers'
|
Iscandar. Starsha was the queen of Iscandar. She had a machine that would allow Earth to eliminate the radiation caused by Gamilon bombardment. The Argo had one year to reach the planet Iscandar and obtain the device that would rid Earth of the radiation from the Gamilon's bombs.
1 year. 'In one year, Earth will be unlivable.' Due to the severe radiation poisoning, the population has been forced to live underground. Soon, even these underground cities will have been exposed to too much radiation.
Desslok. Desslok was the leader of the blue-skinned Gamilons. Destro was a character from 'GI Joe.'
Gamilon. 'Radiation bombs from the planet Gamilon...' Gamilon is a dying planet. By attacking Earth with radiation, they hope to make the planet's atmosphere and appearance similar to Gamilon.
2199. The year is 2199. Earth is under attack from the planet Gamilon.
One Earth year. With only days to spare, Star Force meets its one-Earth-year deadline and cleanses the planet of deadly radiation.
Radiation sickness. Only Dr. Sane, the ship's surgeon, knew of Captain Avatar's bouts with radiation sickness. Avatar saw Earth one last time before he died, shortly before the Star Force's triumphant return.
Black Tigers. The Black Tigers usually got the better of their Gamillon counterparts in the intense space dogfights. The Black Panthers were a militant political group from the 60's. The Black Knights are the US Army's skydiving team, and the Blackhawks are a pro hockey team based in Chicago.
He's a cyborg. Sandor was severely injured in a childhood rollercoaster accident. Bionic parts were installed in him (much like Steve Austin in 'The Six Million Dollar Man') and made him stronger.
Desslok. Desslok inspires loyalty from the Gamilon people, but has a tough time winning over the Star Force. Lysis was one of Desslok's top generals.
Cosmo DNA. Starsha didn't have the means to send the huge Cosmo DNA machine to Earth, which is why she had to send Earth the plans for the wave motion engine.
148,000 light years. The Star Force definitely had to pack for that trip!
Wave motion. The wave motion engine not only functioned to propel the Argo, it could also be channeled so the ship would act like a giant cannon.
Avatar. The venerable Captain Avatar took a collection of men and women and turned them into the Argo's new crew.
Argo. The Yamato was renamed for the benefit of American audiences. It was still called Yamato in the Japanese version of the series, as well as the feature films linked to the series..
Yamato. The battleship Yamato, the pride of the Japanese fleet and a symbol of the country's seagoing might, was sunk by American aircraft during World War II. Arizona and Bismarck were also sank by enemy action, but weren't salvaged for use in space. Though the name Enterprise is best known from 'Star Trek', two American aircraft carriers also bore that name--one of which is still in service.
Star Force. Star Force is a multi-national organization committed to protecting Earth from threats in near and deep space. 'Starship Troopers' is the name of a Robert Heinlein science fiction novel. G-Force is the name of a similar team on another classic animated series, 'Battle of the Planets'.
Gamilon. Gamilon is a dying planet. Its leaders found Earth to be a suitable replacement, and use the planet bombs to try and make it more like Gamilon.
Radioactive bombardment. Earth is bombarded from deep space with planet bombs--large bombs that have contaminated everything with radiation and forced the survivors to live underground.
2199. At the close of the 22nd Century, Earth is a vibrant and technologically advanced place. But it was also about to become the target for an insidious attack by a mysterious enemy.
Lets Nova and Wildstar live.. Not only does Desslok let Nova and Wildstar live, he tells them the secret to defeating the Comet Empire. He would later join forces with the Star Force in the third saga, 'The Bolar Wars'.
Saturn. Star Force suffered heavy casualties in the great battle at Saturn. The Comet Empire pushed forward for a sure takeover of Earth.
Zordar. Zordar held a tight rein over the Comet Empire. He also never hesitated to crush any opponent in his way. He was even pursuasive enough to entice Desslok, the leader of the fallen planet of Gamilon, to join his forces.
Sgt. Knox. As stubborn as they came, Knox proved both a pain in the side and a faithful ally to the Star Force.
Brumus. Brumus was the tenth planet in the Solar System. Despite being rescued by the Star Force, the Space Marines were none too grateful, and proved to be a handful for the Argo's crew. In the move 'Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato', the Marines join the Star Force before they leave Earth.
Andromeda. The Andromeda class battle cruisers like the one Captain Gideon commanded featured twin wave motion cannon and improved manuverability. Essentially, they made the Argo obsolete.
Gideon. Derek Wildstar had trained under Captain Gideon in the Earth Defense Forces. They didn't always get along, but they respected one another, a fact made clear when Gideon allowed the Argo to pass his flagship, the Andromeda.
