Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Gears of War 1
The blast was too weak, and too small to have mapped the Locust tunnels.. Early in the game, you and your squad go after the resonater, which was believed to be able to map the Locust tunnels in order to deliver a bomb capable of wiping them out. However, in Act 3, the resonater is deployed but is too small and weak to map all the tunnels, and so it was a failure. That means that Delta Squad searched for the resonater for nothing.
Campus Grinder. In Act 4, after getting forced to land, you must make your way through the destroyed city to Marcus's house, and the first chapter of the Act is Campus Grinder. Evolution is a chapter of Act 3, Tick-Tick Boom is a chapter of Act 2, and Pale Horse is the last chapter in the game, in Act 5. Act 4's beginning is my least favorite Act of the game.
Nemacyst. Seeders vomit Nemacyst. Nemacyst are very powerful, alive, and can destroy helicopters, cars, etc., as well as buildings.
Luckily, you do not have to deal with many Nemacyst throughout "Gears". Nemacyst can also be easily dealth with by shooting them, as they explode.
Female. All berserkers are female. They are also blind, and rely on smell and sound to hunt. It is very funny seeing a berserker flail around searching for you.
Fourteen. This game takes place fourteen years after emergence-day (E-day). E-day is the day the Locust emerge and show themselves for the first time, sparking the long war. Marcus has just broken out of prison at the beginning.
Marcus Fenix. In the game, you play as Marcus Fenix. He only recently breaks out of prison, and is now up to prove himself worthy of fighting for the COG. Dominic 'Dom' is his main partner, but the rest are also teammates. He also seems to be ridiculously rich, after seeing his mansion in Act 4 (it's just huge).
Three. In all, you face three berserkers. The very first one is in Act 1, the second is in Act 4, and the third and least challenging, in Act 5. In my opinion, the berserker in Act 1 is most challenging, however they all submit some challenge. Berserkers are also very spooky when mixed with the ambience of the moment, but they are sparse.
Corpser and Brumak. A Corpser is a Locust that looks like a giant spider that you fight at the end of Act 3. You never get to fight a Brumak, but at one point of the game you have to get to the Junker before the Brumak comes, which is a giant Locust that has weapons strapped to it.
Carmine. Not many of the COGs wear helmets, which isn't a good idea when you're at war. Unfortunately for Carmine, the helmet didn't help him out much because he got killed by a sniper anyway.
Berzerker. Berzerkers are the only type of Locust that are blind. Berzerkers are female. There are three berzerkers in the game. They are big and blind, but can sense you by sound and smell. They can only be killed with the Hammer of Dawn, which you can only use outside.
Blond. It is easy to know this because he never wears a hat, bandana, or helmet in the whole game. Baird also appears in the second and third games.
Baird. Kim gets killed by General Raam in the first act. In the last part of the last act, you kill General Raam, and that's the end of the game. Carmine also gets killed in the first act, by a sniper.
Cole. In early Act 2, the team splits up: Marcus and Baird go one way and Dom and Cole go the other way. Dom asks Cole if he ever gets tired of fighting, and Cole responds "Hell to the no!" Marcus then tells them to stop talking because they are in enemy territories.
Theron Guards. You first encounter the snipers in the beginning of the game, and the sniper kills Carmine. Wretches are also found near the beginning of the game. Boomers are found in Act 2. You don't see the Theron Guards until the end of Act 3. Theron Guards are tougher, smarter, and faster than drones. The first time you see them, most of them have torque bows, which are very deadly.
Dom. Your character is Marcus Fenix and you are in prison for 14 years. Dom frees you from prison and is your partner throughout the whole game. Dom went to war because his wife was killed by Locusts.
There is no Emerger in the game. Although there was an event mentioned in the game known as Emergence Day, there is no Emerger in the game "Gears of War". I just simply made the name up.
Nothing. Wretches are the small creatures that attack with melee attacks like slashing and biting. They get their name from the horrible sound that they make.
Gnasher Shotgun. Grenadiers are very aggressive and prefer close combat. Due to their slow movement and reload time, it is best to use your speed to defeat them.
Torque Bow. The Torque Bow is a spring powered crossbow that fires explosive arrows. It can also kill certain locusts with one melee attack in casual difficulty.
Boomshot. Boomers are large locusts that yell "Boom" before every shot. It is best to fight them at a distance for the closer you are, the more damage they do.
Snub Pistol & Magnum. There is no 9mm in the game only the Snub Pistol and Magnum. The Snub Pistol can fire at a high rate while the Magnum shoots at a slower rate but is more powerful.
Longshot. You actually have to read the booklet included in the game to find out the name of the rifle. Alternatively, when you attempt to pick it up, it will tell you the name.
Lancer Assault Rifle. Although you can kill most Drones in one hit it does have a weakness. It has the tendency to jam when you're injured and is inaccurate.
660. There is no gun within the game that can carry over 780 bullets. The Locust Repeater can carry 780 bullets.
In the cutscene where you are driving the APC away from the exploding gas station, what Locust is ran over? | Gears of War
|
Boomer. If you watch the cutscene, you see the Boomer try to run out of the way. The APC splatters him all over the street.
What three enemies do you have to deal with while battling the final boss of the game? | Gears of War
|
General Raam, his pet Kryll, and Reevers. As if General Raam isn't tough enough on Insane Mode, the Reevers can be real pains. You have to dodge the Reevers' shots, get the Kryll to leave General Raam, then shoot him without him shooting you. Tough, especially on harder modes.
Augustus Cole. "What's your name, soldier?"
"Private Augustus Cole...sir!"
Cole Train is his nickname, not real name.
Whenever the Boomer gets ready to shoot his Boomshot, what does he say? | Gears of War
|
"BOOM". Kind of a warning to move...or be moved (into pieces)! Nothing you can do if you're hit by a Boomshot.
Who does General Raam kill in the cut scene before you meet the first Berserker? | Gears of War
|
Kim. Carmine dies, too, but from a Locust sniper bullet to his left ear. Raam kills Kim in the street with his large knife.
Thirty. If you find all thirty, you unlock an achievement. They are small and glow blue. They are hard to find if you don't look hard, so keep you're eye out for them as you play.
What color is the skull on the logo of the game? | Gears of War
|
Red. The logo of the game is a red skull with a red gear around it. It is seen at the menu, when you are killed, and at many other times in the game.
