Special Sub-Topic: Elemental "Smash Bros."

Sulphur - Oxygen - Nitrogen - Iodine - Carbon

SONIC. Sonic is a blue hedgehog who can run super fast. He is Sega's mascot, and his fans have been rivals with Mario fans for many years. He's appeared in a number of games since 1991. In "Brawl" he can move quickly, and his attacks are fast, but generally weak. Sonic appeared in over sixty games before "Super Smash Bros. Brawl". To unlock Sonic play 300 matches or complete Classic Mode with ten characters.

Lithium - Nitrogen - Potassium
LiNK. Link is the main character from the "Legend of Zelda" series, and has been one of Nintendo's main characters for years. He is swathed in green clothing and primarily fights with his sword, though he does have quite a few other tricks up his sleeve, such as a boomerang, a bow, a grapple, and bombs. Link appeared in fourteen of his own games before "Brawl" was released, as well as a few other appearances, such as the first two "Super Smash Bros." games. Link is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Fluorine - Aluminum - Cobalt
FAlCo. Falco is a member of the Star Fox team (from the "Star Fox" series), and is the ace pilot of the group. He uses speed and high-tech equipment to win fights, such as his blaster and his personal shield. His move set is a slight variation of Fox's. In the "Star Fox" games, Falco was always known for his boastful/rude comments. He was considered the ace pilot of the Star Fox team. Falco can be unlocked by playing fifty matches, or completing the 100 man brawl.

Phosphorus - Iodine - Potassium - Actinium - Hydrogen - Uranium
PIKAcHU. Pikachu is the famous Pokemon from the series of the same name. He is an electric type Pokemon, focusing on strong and fast attacks, but easily takes damage and can easily be sent flying. His attacks have good range (B, Down+B), and he has two excellent techniques for recovering (Side+B, Up+B). His melee attacks are also quite quick. His final smash is similar to Sonic's, but more erratic. Pikachu has appeared in every "Pokemon" game, and is one of the stars in the animated TV series. Pikachu is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Lutetium - Calcium - Sulphur
LuCaS. Lucas is a young blond boy from the "Mother" series and has a move set similar to Ness. He is small, has strong smash attacks, and uses a lot of Psi-based moves to defeat his enemies. His Up+B recovery move does not have a direct upward effect like many characters, but rather he uses PK Thunder, which creates a bolt of electricity that can be controlled. While you are controlling the bolt, Lucas himself is defenseless, and cannot react to opponents. In order to save yourself using PK Thunder, you have to maneuver the bolt around Lucas and hit him from below to launch him upwards. Naturally you can use this technique to launch him in any direction. Lucas is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Tungsten - Argon - Iodine - Oxygen
Wario. Wario is Mario's evil counterpart and is quite heavy. He uses a variety of crude/bizarre moves to defeat his opponents and lacks the finesse that many of his enemies possess, relying more on brute strength. Wario can pull of a number strange tactics, such as spawning a motorbike to ride around on/throw at opponents. He can also eat items to prevent enemies from using them. Wario is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Sulphur - Americium - Uranium - Sulphur
SAmUS. Samus has been in all the "Smash Bros." games and comes from Nintendo's "Metroid" series. She wears an orange powersuit with many surprising and high-tech abilities, such as firing charged shots, missiles, dropping bombs, a grapple, and a few other special abilities such as the screw attack. She is also quite skilled at melee fighting with both fast and powerful attacks at her disposal. She appeared in ten "Metroid" games prior to "Brawl". Samus is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Potassium - Iridium - Boron - Yttrium
KIrBY. Kirby is a small pink character from a series named after him. His signature abilities include the ability to jump multiple times and to inhale enemies in order to steal their abilities. This gives Kirby a large number of different abilities available to him depending on his opponents. He also has a few strong moves if they hit, such as his aeriel Down+B. Though light, Kirby can recover easily when knocked off with his ability to jump multiple times. Kirby is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Nitrogen - Einsteinium - Sulphur
NEsS. Ness is also from the "Mother" series and has been in every "Smash Bros." game. He, like Lucas, uses Psi attacks against his enemies. He is one of the more difficult characters to control well, as he has a weird jump, and he needs to be able to angle his PK Thunder adeptly in order to use it as a recovery move. He is known for his powerful smash attacks using his baseball bat and yo-yo, and his PK Fire (Side+B) can stick enemies to one spot and rack up some damage on them. To unlock Ness play five matches or reflect ten projectiles.

Yttrium - Osmium - Hydrogen - Iodine
YOsHI. Yoshi is Mario's green dinosaur friend who first appeared in "Super Mario World", and has been in most "Mario" titles since. He plays differently than most characters, tossing eggs, using ground pounds, and using a flutter jump to gain altitude. His movements (especially his jumps) can be difficult to get a grip on, but also make him more difficult for opponents to predict. He is also quite heavy, making him difficult to push around by opponents, but can move pretty fast when you tell him to, especially in the air. Yoshi is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Sulphur - Helium - Iodine - Potassium
SHeIK. Sheik is the alter ego of Zelda (who has an entire series named after her), and the player can switch between the two during play. While Zelda relies on powerful magic based attacks and finishers, Sheik is a ninja, using quick, light attack against her enemies to rack up quick damage, and then dodging oncoming attacks. Both Zelda and Sheik are extremely light and can be sent flying easily. Sheik is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Boron - Oxygen - Tungsten - Sulphur - Erbium
BOWSEr. Bowser is the leader of the Koopas and has been Mario's main enemy for many years. He is strong and large, and can take a beating while dishing out a lot of damage. His main weakness is speed. His attacks have a long start-up time, and can be canceled if someone hits him fast enough. While he is heavy and cannot be sent flying very easily, he is a large target, and will soak up a lot of damage. His recovery is also not the best, so it's difficult to get back on a stage sometimes after being knocked off. Bowser is one of the starting characters in "Brawl".

Lutetium - Carbon - Argon - Iodine - Oxygen
LuCArIO. Lucario is a Pokemon from the "Diamond and Pearl" games who made his debut in the "Smash Bros." series in this installment. He could be called the replacement of Mewtwo from "Melee". Lucario is a Fighting/Steel Pokemon, an odd combo considering Lucario has many Psychic-like abilities. Many of Lucario's moves are ranged, and his attack damage increases as he takes damage, or if he is not doing well in a match. You can unlock Lucario by playing 100 brawls or by completing the Target Tests with any five characters.

Gallium - Nobelium - Neodymium - Oxygen - Rutherfordium
GaNoNdORf. Ganondorf is the main antagonists in many of the "Legend of Zelda" games. His move set is somewhat similar to that of Captain Falcon's, though more powerful and a LOT slower. He can be unlocked in "Brawl" by completing Classic Mode on Hard with either Zelda or Link, or by playing 200 matches.

Calcium - Phosphorus - Tantalum - Indium - Fluorine - Aluminum - Cobalt - Nitrogen
CaPTaIn FAlCoN. Captain Falcon is from the "F-Zero" series of racing games. His movements and abilities are some of the fastest in the game and generally employ fire. He is not too light, and can deal out damage quickly though a series of fast, light attacks. He also has a few strong finishes, such as his Falcon Punch. Most of Captain Falcon's attacks lack range, but this usually isn't a problem because he can cover the distance to his enemies before they can react. To unlock Captain Falcon, play seventy matches, or beat Classic Mode on Normal (or greater) in under twelve minutes.
