Special Sub-Topic: It's All About 'The Luggage'

In which Terry Pratchett book does The Luggage first appear?

The Colour of Magic. This was Terry Pratchett's first Discworld book published in 1983. The Luggage has also appeared in 'The Light Fantastic', 'Sourcery', 'Eric', 'Interesting Times', 'The Last Continent', The Last Hero'.

In the Terry Pratchett Discworld books, how does The Luggage make its first entrance into Ankh-Morpork?
It is carried down a gangplank.. As the character of The Luggage develops over the books, it is hard to imagine that it allowed itself to be carried.

In the Discworld books, what is The Luggage made of which makes it so magical and priceless?
Sapient Pearwood. Sapient pearwood is known to be able to hold ten times as much magic as any other tree. The best wizard's staves are also made of this wood.

In the Terry Pratchett Discworld book in which The Luggage is introduced, who owns The Luggage at the beginning and end of the book?
Twoflower; Twoflower. 'The Colour of Magic' ends with Rincewind and Twoflower going over The Edge in 'The Potent Voyager' with The Luggage jumping over after them. At the end of 'The Light Fantastic' Twoflower leaves The Luggage with Rincewind.

How many feet does The Luggage have?
Hundreds. Although Josh Kirby's is a first-rate illustrator, he has not been able to capture The Luggage quite yet. That would take Industrial Light & Magic.

In the Terry Pratchett book, 'The Last Continent', the 'girls' give The Luggage what name?
Trunkie. Darleen, Letitia and Nielette have dressed The Luggage in high-heeled shoes, an evening gown and earrings. It has also had its lid pierced. Rincewind gets it to take off the shoes, dress and earrings, but it makes clear that it won't budge on the stud in its lid.

In the Terry Pratchett Discworld books, after the riot in the Broken Drum, Carrot arrests The Luggage.
    f. We do not meet Carrot until the book 'Guards, Guards'; and can you imagine anyone trying to arrest The Luggage? The riot in the Broken Drum (which leads to it being burned down by the owner to take advantage of his new 'inn-sewer-ants' policy) takes place at the beginning of 'The Colour of Magic'. The inn is rebuilt as the Mended Drum in 'Guards, Guards'.

In the Terry Pratchett book 'Interesting Times', Twoflower describes the Luggage as "expensive and perfect".
    f. In fact he says, "It was a very cheap one. I always thought there was something a little warped about it, to tell you the truth."

In Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld', Twoflower purchased The Luggage in the same type of shop in which Imp Y Celyn purchased his guitar.
    t. In 'The Light Fantastic' Rincewind, Twoflower and Bethan end up in the shop of "Skillet, Wang, Yrxle!yt, Bunglestiff, Cwmlad and Patel". Twoflower says "Funny thing is [...] that I bought my Luggage in a shop like this, once." In 'Soul Music', Imp (Buddy), Glod and Cliff find a similar shop in Ankh-Morpork where they purchase the guitar to replace the smashed harp. They are known as the tabernae vagantes - the wandering shops - whose stock is always suspect.

Which of the following has never been stored in The Luggage?
The Bursar's Dried Frog Pills. The Luggage has used gold to tempt thieves (whose lives ended with a snap); Rincewind keeps his underwear in there; in 'The Last Continent' while Rincewind and Nielette are hiding inside The Luggage and Rincewind contemplates how many insides The Luggage has, Nielette mentions that Letitia kept her gin inside Trunkie.
