Special Sub-Topic: It's in the Cards

Who sang 'We all play the game, when we dare, we cheat ourselves at solitaire'?

Janis Ian. The line was from the song "At Seventeen." 'Playing solitaire' is an appropriate metaphor for not getting dates.

Who sang about dealing card games with the old men in the club car?
Arlo Guthrie. From "The City of New Orleans" by Steve Goodman. Goodman wrote the song and asked Arlo Guthrie to find someone to record it.

In 'The Death of John Smith' by NOFX, what game does the singer have to look forward to?
my bridge game. Since I was doing a quiz on card games songs, I had to work in my favorite game. There aren't very many bridge references in songs. I found a play titled "Johnny No Trump" but unfortunately it was not a musical, and I found several bridge terms in songs (grand slam, vulnerable) that were not bridge terms in the contexts used.

Who sang, 'You always said the cards would never do you wrong'?
Bob Seger. From "Still the Same". Orleans performed a totally unrelated work titled "Still the One".

Who played solitaire 'til dawn, with a pack of fifty-one?
Statler Brothers. From the song "Flowers on the Wall". This song about smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo reached number 4 in 1966.

Which song contained the line 'Don't you draw the Queen of Diamonds, boy, she'll beat you if she's able'?
Desperado. The Queen of Diamonds is also the only queen for which I could not find a song title.

Who sang 'Queen of Hearts'?
Juice Newton. The 'Queen of Hearts' was recorded by Dave Edmunds, and was a hit for Juice Newton in 1981. Her real name is Judy Kay Newton.

Who sang 'Queen of Spades'?
Styx. 'Queen of Spades' was on the Styx "Pieces of Eight" album released in 1978.

Who sang 'Queen of Clubs'?
    K. C. and the Sunshine Band. Well, from the lyrics of the song it's clear that the subject of the song is the queen of nightclubs.

What Norah Jones song makes it sound like she will take all thirteen hearts and the queen of spades?
Shoot the Moon. Shooting the Moon is the term for taking all the points in a hand in a game of hearts.
