Special Sub-Topic: "Luck Be A Lady"
A superstar diva by the name of Janet Ellis has arrived at the Montecito. She's there to perform and has brought her little handbag dog with her. What's this pampered pooch's name?
Kiki. Little chihuahua Kiki is with her at all times. It yaps a heck of a lot and annoys poor Mary, who's not a fan of these diva like stars who demand anything and everything.
Some of Ed's past is revealed in this episode when one of his former core colleagues, Sandra Edelman, comes for a visit, but is actually there to provide security for Janet Ellis. Sandra used to pose as Ed's wife through a two year undercover mission and therefore is very close to him. Which actress and extremely talented poker player plays Sandra?
Mimi Rogers. Mimi Rogers' poker talents are very highly regarded. She finished 27th out of 350 at the Bay 101 tournament among many good performances. She even made it onto the 'World Poker Tour' video game alongside the best players in the world! A role on "Las Vegas" seems apt.
Sam's whale this episode is a very rich one. He is number seven on the "Forbes Top 10" list and luckily for the Montecito, he's chosen to play there. To accommodate him, the Montecito has made their mansion and everything else available for this whale so that he has the best possible time he can. Only problem is this whale seems to be taking advantage of the hospitality...and isn't gambling at all! He's taking a free ride and costing the Montecito about $100,000 a day. What's the whale's name?
Gavin Brunson. Gavin Brunson, played by James McDaniel from "NYPD Blue" fame, uses the hospitality but is very charming and kind. Due to this... Ed and Sam find it hard to kick him out. Brunson is the future owner of the Montecito...as we find out later on in the episode.
As Sandra posed as Ed's wife for two years, Jillian isn't too comfortable with her being around, and feels threatened. Ed goes and makes it worse by inviting Sandra somewhere that Ed and Jillian were meant to go by themselves. Where did they go?
To play tennis. With Sandra and Jillian constantly trying to get one over eachother...they both fire balls at poor Ed who's on the other side of the court. At the end, Jillian whacks a ball straight into Sandra's back and then apologizes sweetly!
One of Mike's friend's sisters, Lani Catlin is turning 21 and decides to have her party at the Montecito. Delinda shouts her and her pack of friends dinner at Mystique and Sam helps her count down the seconds until she is officially 21, at which time she tried her luck on the slots for the first time! Talk about beginner's luck...she wins $100,000 on her very first spin! What time does the slot machine say when she puts on her first bet?
11:57pm. Unfortunately for Lani, the time on the machine says 11:57pm. It means that Lani was 20 when she placed the bet and was underage. The worst thing is that she actually won the money that spin...and not only does she not receive the money, she can also get stung for being and underage gambler too.
Sam's whale asks Sam if she can acquire for him one of his favourite foods. Sam's research leads her to find that only one company makes the flavour that he wants... and it's a seasonal flavour. It's not in season and for them to make some for the whale, they'd have to change their entire flavour schedule and marketing plan. The whale is disappointed at this, so he buys their company and orders them to make it for him. What treat is his favourite?
Peppermint Candy Cane Ice Cream. This shows how rich he was. Also, when Brunson is watching a football game and he misses a play due to Sam talking to him, he calls NBC and gets them to replay it for him. Any questions?
Sam's Forbes Top 10 whale is being a right royal pain in the rear. Along with buying the company that makes his treat, he has started moving his own furniture into the suite and moving the Montecito's into the hallway. He's also pestering staff to have special things sent to him and having many things re-arranged. He also has a popular comedy duo perform a private act for him in his suite, and these two make a quick yet amusing cameo on Las Vegas. Who are they?
Penn and Teller. Penn and teller ask Ed whether they can get some chainsaws for their act, as Penn Jillette is going to cut Teller in half. He tells Ed that he'll love it. Teller, as usual, says nothing...but after giving a demonstration (with no chainsaw)...Teller gets up with blood pouring from his mouth. Charming.
Janet Ellis has a stalker. He is a psycho who believes they are married and continues to send her flowers and gifts with notes in them. One note he mentions that he can't live without her anymore and is going to kill her so that no-one else can be with her. As this is Janet's first show in 3 years, they know this will be the time he'll strike. The stalker has a job that puts him within range of Janet...what does he do?
Trombone player. The trombone player is sick, and the stalker is the fill-in trombone player. He uses his trombone case to get his gun in.
As Janet Ellis takes the stage, the stalker makes a break for it backstage among the fireworks and lights. As the team give chase through difficult circumstances, the stalker manages to get a little breathing space in which he uses to aim his gun straight at Janet Ellis. Luckily...the day is saved when he is disarmed...by who?
Ed. Ed chops his arm and knocks him down just before the trigger is pulled. Sands wasn't far behind and Danny was up on the rafters at the time. The show continues as Janet sings 'Less Talk, More Action'.
Sam's whale leaves with a parting gift to the Montecito when he purchases something. What does he buy?
The Montecito. Gavin Brunson is the new owner of the Montecito. He buys a 51% controlling share in the place. He gives power to Ed in his absence and gives him a raise.
