Special Sub-Topic: "New Orleans"
We begin this episode with Ed having a problem. It seems one of Sam's whales has done a runner from the Montecito without having paid the money that he owes. As this money is around $4.5 million dollars... Ed needs to find the whale at once and get the money back. Upon doing a quick travel search on the whale, it's shown that he has flown to the Montecito franchise in New Orleans. Ed decides to also go to New Orleans to track down the whale. He also brings along Sam and Danny to help him. Question is, what is the name of the whale?
Ray Mihalyo. Mihalyo Jr. is the son of a now deceased friend of Ed's. He has inherited a lot of money but is quite simply gambling it all away. He is found at the end of the episode and forced to pay the money back. Ed also does his best to stop him from gambling.
Welcome to New Orleans! The New Orleans franchise of the Montecito is run by an old friend of Ed's, Jon. Which well known actor plays Jon?
Dennis Hopper. Jon has a shady past just like Ed and has it mentioned that he was once a high ranking police officer. Without going into too much detail, it's said through the episode that Ed helped him get the job. Dennis Hopper is very Dennis Hopperish in the role and does a top job. He's best known for his roles in "Speed", "Super Mario Bros", "Blue Velvet" and "Easy Rider". He also had a voice role in "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City".
Our first look into the New Orleans Montecito sees Jon standing still in the middle of a fight that has broken out just inside the entrance. It seems this is not an unusual occurrence here at all. Breaking up the fight is Jon's right-hand man, much the same as to what Danny is to Ed. Only difference is Jon has a right hand woman! And she's belting about 10 guys up without breaking a sweat. What is the name of this bayou beauty?
A.J Laveau. A.J is played by Lola Glaudini of "NYPD Blue" and "The Sopranos" fame. She plays mind games with Danny throughout the episode, including bumping him into a gator filled swamp for kicks.
When searching for Sam's whale, his name doesn't come up mentioning that he's booked into any hotels or Montecito casinos. Ed then asks Sam if he possibly has any nicknames or pet names that he may be booked in as. Sam replies that some of the girls call him what?
Big Mac. Sam pulls a very cute look (one of many this episode) when mentioning the name, Big Mac. Mihalyo has indeed registered his name in New Orleans under the alias of Big Mac, which is what leads Ed and crew there.
Meanwhile, back in Las Vegas, the Montecito is holding a wet t-shirt contest! Who gets most involved in the contest?
Mike. Mike thoroughly enjoys the wet t-shirt comp. Understandably so. Danny was in New Orleans at the time so missed out, but Mike had to handle a situation when the girls were practicing in the Bella Sara lounge. Only Mike and Mary watch the contest, but Mary is dealing with the Holdens at the time.
Also back in Vegas, Mary has to deal with a family, the Holdens, who have won Powerball and are having their reunion at the Montecito. The Holdens cause trouble everywhere they go in the Montecito and Mary has to practically babysit them throughout. How much money did they win?
$360 Million. The windfall that the Holdens scored is causing grief in the family. They start a food fight in Mystique amongst other problems. The amount that they won is mentioned many a time during the episode.
In New Orleans, we meet the head of security there, Pops. Pops is Jon's father and is asleep when we first meet him. He awakes to the view of Sam sitting on his desk and takes an instant liking even though she is half his age. Pops constantly tries to chat Sam up. What line does Sam use, unsuccessfully, to try and get Pops to leave her alone?
She's gay. Pops reply to Sam's call of her being gay is that he is a lesbian trapped in a man's body. Sam handles the situation well, much to Danny's amusement. When Pops has used all his best and Sam gives him a fed up look, Pops says: "Care to throw an old dog a bone?"!
Sam then tries going to a voodoo queen to possibly find the runaway whale. To gain the information, Sam needs to eat what?
A dead rat. When Sam asks whether she has to eat it, the voodoo queen cackles. Afterwards Sam mentions to Ed that she had to eat the dead rat to get the information that Mihalyo will be surrounded by a flock of birds. During the Carnival, Sam spots a man surrounded by four women wearing bird outfits... and lo and behold, it's Mihalyo.
Danny is starting to get closer to Jon's assistant. After she hip checks him into the gator-filled swamp, Pops gives Danny some advice. He tells Danny to say no if she asks what?
To meet her family. A.J does indeed ask Danny if he wants to meet her family almost directly after Pops gave him the advice. Pops said that A.J once took two men and a horse to the bayou and they were never seen again.
A legend in music makes a cameo in this episode. He's playing at the Montecito in New Orleans. He is pointed out by Sam at the beginning of the episode and comes over to say hello to Sam! He then plays one of his trademark tunes at the end. Who is it?
Little Richard. Little Richard plays his song 'Been Told a Long Time Ago'. Sam happily dances to the song until Danny and Ed have to pick her up and carry her away, as it's time to go back to Vegas.
