Fun Trivia: S : Something in Common

Special Sub-Topic: Stranded

"Narrow Margin" has Gene Hackman trying to make a desperate trip aboard a train, while being pursued by criminals. Who is the woman that is with him on the train?

Anne Archer. This is a good re-make of an old Charles McGraw movie.

"The Caine Mutiny" consists of men who are unable to escape from their ship, the Caine. Who is not serving (in some capacity) aboard the Caine?
Jose Ferrer. Bogart was the captain; MacMurray and Johnson were under his command. Ferrer plays the lawyer who defends Johnson after the mutiny.

"Ship of Fools" also deals with people who are stranded together aboard a ship. The opening and closing of the movie feature comments by an unusual actor. How is he unusual?
He is a dwarf. Michael Dunn, best known for his recurring role on TV's "Wild, Wild West" series, acts as a narrator of sorts as he speaks directly to the camera (and the viewers) at the movie's start and end. The all-star cast includes Vivien Leigh. The movie is based on the Katherine Anne Porter novel.

"Flight of the Phoenix" involves people who are stranded together, aboard a plane (at first) and later in the desert where they land. Who plays the crusty pilot?
James Stewart. This is a change for Stewart: he steps away from his usual easygoing, nice-guy role.

"Mutiny on the Bounty" had Fletcher Christian and company buckling under the iron hand of Captain Bligh. In the Clark Gable & Charles Laughton version, which punishment was NOT meted out by Bligh?
Walking the plank. Franchot Tone (who plays Byam) is forced to stay atop a mast during a storm. A man is keelhauled during the movie, another man is flogged. No one, however, gets to walk the plank.

Which James Bond movie invovles Bond in a game of cat-and-mouse aboard a train toward the end of the movie?
From Russia, With Love. It's Robert Shaw versus Sean Connery, with Daniela Bianchi along as the inevitable Bond girl.

"Voyage of the Damned" concerns an actual incident that occurred in what approximate time period?
World War II. The movie is based on a ship that was occupied largely by German Jews in the latter part of the 1930's. They were expelled from Germany, but were unable to find a place to land. The all-star cast included Orson Welles, Lee Grant, Katharine Ross, Julie Harris, Nehemiah Persoff, James Mason, Malcom McDowelll and Faye Dunaway.

In the Vincent Price version of "House on Haunted Hill", the guests are "locked in" for the night. Which future TV star played one of the guests?
Richard Long. Long would later star in shows such as "The Big Valley" and "Nanny and the Professor". (He also spent some time in "77 Sunset Strip".)

Who was the murder victim in "Murder on the Orient Express"?
    Richard Widmark. Finney played Poirot.

There have been many versions of Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians". Where is the action set in the version that stars Hugh O'Brian and Shirley Eaton?
Ski lodge (surrounded by snow). I found this version to be entertaining - as opposed to the Brenda Vaccarro/Donald Pleasence version that came years later.
