Fun Trivia: A : Acts

Special Sub-Topic: The Day of Pentecost

What Christian holiday does the Jewish holiday of Pentecost follow?

Easter. Pentecost comes fifty days after Easter. Because it was time for the celebration of the first fruits to be harvested, a celebration was held. The celebration was known as Pentecost.

How many days after Jesus ascended into Heaven did the disciples celebrate Pentecost?
Ten. The disciples were accompanied by Jesus' mother Mary and the other members of His family as they traveled to celebrate the Pentecostal feast. The celebration was held early in the morning at Mount Zion where Jesus celebrated his last supper. On that day, one hundred and twenty people were gathered in the room.

While everyone was gathered together in a room celebrating the feast, what sound was heard all around them?
Rushing wind. In Acts 2:2, while the disciples and Jesus' family were gathered in a room celebrating the Pentecostal feast, they all heard the sound of rushing wind swirling around them. The wind was from Heaven and flames hovered over their heads.

What happened to the disciples when the Holy Spirit entered them?
They could speak in different languages. Acts 2:2-13 states that the wind that rushed into the room where they were eating and worshiping was the Holy Spirit. After the Holy Spirit entered the disciples, the twelve men went out to preach the gospel to the people in all the different languages that the people spoke in the city.

Which one of Jesus' disciples took the opportunity to stand up and speak to the crowd of people?
Peter. While the disciples preached the gospel in Acts 2:14, some people thought the disciples were drunk. After hearing this, Peter stood up and exclaimed that it was too early to be drunk and began telling the group about Jesus' death on the cross, his resurrection, and his ascension into Heaven.

When Peter was speaking to the crowd, what did he say would happen to the old men in the city?
Dream. Peter repeated the words that the prophet Joel had said in Joel 2 when he said that the sons and daughters would prophecy, the men would see visions, and the old men would dream dreams.

In Acts 2:21, what did Peter say would happen to those that call upon the Lord?
They shall be saved. Peter continued his preaching by telling the people that they would be saved if they called upon the Lord. After Peter was done with his speech, there were three thousand people that were saved that day.

Who did Peter describe in Acts 2:25 as sitting at the right hand of God?
Jesus. In Acts 2:25, Peter tells the people that Jesus was sitting at the right hand of God and because of that he was rejoicing instead of worrying. David's words in Acts 2:25 can also be found in Psalm 16:8-11.

According to Peter, what did God tell David would happen to his enemies?
They would become David's footstools. As Peter preached to the people, they questioned what they should do. Peter told them that the Lord spoke to David and said he would sit on the right hand of God. God also promised him that his enemies would one day be a footstool for his feet. The scripture can be found in Acts 2:34-35 and Psalm 110:1.

In what city did this first Pentecostal celebration take place?
Jerusalem. Jerusalem is known as the holy city of God. The city goes by several different names, but is referred to as Jerusalem for the first time in the book of Joshua.
