Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When he first appears in the book, Ford Prefect is recklessly causing trouble in a bar on the lower south side of Han Dold City. What was this bar called?

Answer: The Old Pink Dog

Ford was attempting unsuccessfully to pay for a vast drinks bill with an American Express Card. He was nearly beaten to death by a disembodied arm while having his throat torn out by a savage bird, but at the last moment he saved the day by offering to do a write-up for the bar in the Guide.
2. The first familiar face Arthur saw when he got back to Earth was No-Nothing-Bozo the Non-Wonder Dog, named for the President of the United States. What word was used to drive this dog into a frenzy?

Answer: Commies!

The dog was named after the President of the United States because of the way his hair stuck up (this would presumably have been Ronald Reagan).
3. In his Guide entry for Earth, how did Ford Prefect describe the air in Los Angeles?

Answer: Inexplicably yellow

He describes Los Angeles, in his entry in the Guide, as "junky, wunky, lunky, stunky, and what's that other word, and all kinds of bad stuff, woo," and later in the entry as being "like several thousand square miles of American Express junk mail, but without the moral depth. Plus the air is, for some reason, yellow."
4. What part of Fenchurch's body is very unusual?

Answer: Feet

They don't touch the ground. This probably has something to do with the fact that she didn't quite transition properly to the new Earth, but who knows, really?
5. Arthur and Fenchurch spent their first night together flying over London in various states of undress and ...erm... linkage. The next night, they did the same thing, but with what difference?

Answer: They brought tape players.

Sony Walkmen, to be exact. It was later mentioned that their nighttime antics were causing quite a stir in London.
6. Wonko the Sane claimed that angels were in the habit of visiting him; what food product, that they couldn't get where they were from, did the angels like to eat?

Answer: Nachos

The angels are easily recognizable for their golden beards and green wings. They also "do a lot of coke and are very wonderful about a whole range of things".
7. Ford returns to Earth by stowing away on a flying saucer. Soon after it lands, a huge robot emerges. What does it ask to be taken to?

Answer: Our Lizard

It came from a very ancient democracy, wherein the people always elected lizards. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people". Arthur says that this arrangement is terrible, but Ford scoffs at his naivete, and wishes that he had "one Altarian dollar for every time I heard one bit of the Universe look at another bit of the Universe and say 'That's terrible'".
8. When our heroes were on the huge robot's ship, heading away from Earth, Ford Prefect finally got to finish a movie that he thought had been forever lost with the destruction of Earth. This movie was the reason that he had returned to Earth; what was it?

Answer: Casablanca

"This is the big one. This is the one I came back for. Do you realize that I never saw it all the way through? I always missed the end. I saw half of it again the night before the Vogons came. When they blew the place up I thought I'd never get to see it."
9. During his long life (he ended up 37 times older than the Universe itself), every part of Marvin's body was replaced at least fifty times.

Answer: No

"Every part of me has been replaced at least fifty times... except... Do you remember when you first met me? I mentioned to you that I had this terrible pain in all the diodes down my left side? That I had asked for them to be replaced but they never were? See if you can guess which parts of me were never replaced. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch."
10. What was God's final message to his creation?

Answer: We apologize for the inconvenience

It was the last thing Marvin saw, and possibly the first thing Marvin saw that he liked.
