1. Which high flying superstar joined the Brisbane Broncos from the Melbourne Storm?

Answer: Israel Folau

Folau's main reason for signing with the Broncos was so that he could be closer to his family who live in Queensland. On his debut for the club, he scored his first try for his new club. In 2008, during his time with Melbourne, he received such accolades as Dally M Rookie of the Year in 2007, and Dally M Centre of the Year in 2008.
2. What club did former Newcastle Knights captain Danny Buderus join in the ESL?

Answer: Leeds Rhinos

Danny Buderus was the captain of the Newcastle Knights and of his state New South Wales. In 2004, he received the Dally M medal for the best player throughout the season. In a devestating way to leave his club, he torn his bicep in a season ending injury.
3. Which former Parramatta Eels player left mid-season to join the Melbourne Storm?

Answer: Brett Finch

Born in Maitland, New South Wales, he was contracted to the Eels until 2011, but got an early release to sign with Melbourne Storm mid-season in 2009.
4. Who was previously the coach of the Brisbane Broncos before deciding to join St. George Illawara?

Answer: Wayne Bennett

Wayne had coached the Brisbane Broncos since their first season in the NRL in 1988. He took them to a 6 Grand Final wins from 6 appearances in 1992, 1993, 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2006. He was named in the Queensland origin side's Team of the Century as coach. During his time as a player in the NRL, he received 9 State of Origin call ups from 1971 to 1973 on his favoured position, the wing.
5. What club did Isaac de Gois join the Newcastle Knights from?

Answer: Cronulla Sharks

He was bought to replace Danny Buderus at hooker, and proved to be a valuable signing for the Knights. He played in Portugal's first international match in 2005 against Fiji A, losing 40-4.

Answer: Gareth Ellis

He chose to come to Australia saying he wanted to test himself in the toughest competition of all. He has represented Great Britain on numerous occasions and also represented England during the 2008 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals.

Answer: Antonio Winterstein

He signed with the Broncos from the Roosters under-20s squad, and didn't take long to cement his name as one of the lethal finishers in the game. He scored a try on his debut against the Cowboys in round 1.
8. What is the name of the fullback that the Newcastle Knights bought mid-season?

Answer: Shannon McDonnell

The Knights needed a fullback to cover for Kurt Gidley during the Origin season, and Shannon McDonnell was their man. On his first game for the Knights, he suffered an injury having to be subbed for the remainder of the game. He was signed from the Wests Tigers.
9. Who was the former Canberra Raiders front rower who was signed by the St. George Illawara Dragons, and in the same year got a debut in State of Origin?

Answer: Michael Weyman

Michael Weyman was never considered good enough to be considered for State of Origin, that is until his move to the Dragons where Wayne Bennett brought out the best in him. During his time at Canberra, he got a string of injuries and at one point considered retiring from the game. In 2002 and 2003, Weyman was selected to play for the Junior Kangaroos and for NSW U19s in 2003.
10. Who is the former Canterbury Bulldogs centre who joined the North Queensland Cowboys, to try and find that 2004 form that made him a star?

Answer: Willie Tonga

In 2004, Tonga was considered as "the best centre in world" until a series of injuries limited his playing time. Tonga was ranked at number 13 on a Rugby League weekly poll consisting of the 25 best buys of 2009. In game 2 of State of Origin 2009, he received a call up to play for Queensland to replace the injured Justin Hodges in the centre position.
