Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who operates the Repairs and Advancement Department?

Answer: Ouroboros

Immediately after Sylvie sends Loki back to the TVA and kills He Who Remains, Loki finds that not only have things changed back at the headquarters, but he's not recognized by anyone there. He makes a daring escape from the guards, navigating his way aimlessly through the offices...only to find that he's also shifting back and forth through time. In the judges' chamber, he finds a recording of He Who Remains and Ravonna Renslayer speaking about ruling together.

While Mobius contemplates the deviations of the Sacred Timeline, he tries to track down Loki at the same time. Unfortunately, he and Hunter B-15 need to stand before the council of judges and explain the situation first. B-15 informs the room that everyone at the TVA is a Variant originally from branched timelines; they have to stop pruning the branches as they are harming innocent lives. It's the opposite of what the TVA knows.

At this pivotal moment, Loki reappears back in his normal time in the council room. He explains all he can about He Who Remains, revealing the hidden statues behind the chamber walls to show the being's face. There will be more of him coming, he claims. Hunter X-5, meanwhile, is sent to hunt for Sylvie at the End of Time.

Mobius agrees to help Loki get to the bottom of things, and the first thing he does is introduce him to Ouroboros, a technician in the bowels of the TVA who might be able to help him stop shifting through time. The 'time slipping', as it were, can be fixed, but it will take some effort.
2. Why is the Temporal Loom overloading?

Answer: Because there are too many branching timelines

With Ouroboros knowing about 'time slipping', and knowing that it can't happen in the TVA, he has trouble reconciling the situation. Loki manages to time slip back, talking to O.B. and allowing his future self to understand the situation. In the past, Loki helps O.B. create a Temporal Aura Extractor so that he and Mobius can use it at the TVA's Temporal Loom. If they do that, they can pull Loki back to TVA. It just means ripping him from every other branching timeline, pulling him into the present. Effectively he needs to be pruned.

Worse, they all find, is that the power surges in the TVA are being caused by overloads to the Temporal Loom. Though Loki and Mobius both discuss the dangers of getting involved, they really have no choice. With so many new branches of the Sacred Timeline, there's no way to keep the TV running-- it's on overload. It's the biggest disaster the Multiverse has ever encountered.

Unfortunately, it's now or never for Loki. If they fail in the next five minutes, Loki will be lost to time and Mobius will lose his skin. That is, of course, when Loki slips into the future, emerging in the TVA as the Loom fails. He wanders through the TVA looking for a way to prune himself, momentarily coming across Sylvie, but being pulled back into his proper timeline, having been pruned by an unknown source at just the right moment, saving Mobius along the way. As the pair collapse inside the blast doors of the Loom, Loki says they need to find Sylvie.
3. Loki and Mobius manage to locate Sylvie in a branching version of 1982 Earth, but where is she specifically?

Answer: McDonald's

Loki and Mobius head to London in 1977 on the Sacred Timeline and attend a movie premiere on their hunt for Sylvie. What they find instead, however, is that Hunter X-5 has established himself there as a blockbuster film actor. Loki and Mobius squeeze the truth from him, letting them know that he bailed on General Dox's plans. He makes an attempt to escape the pair, but they apprehend him and bring him back to the TVA to lock him away.

At the same time, the hunt for Ravonna Renslayer continues though it's discovered that she's being helped and, likely, hidden by Miss Minutes. It gives more urgency to the others' search for Sylvie, and when they finally press harder on X-5, letting Loki interrogate him alone with some equipment that could grievously harm him, he reveals that Sylvie is in Broxton, Oklahoma in the year 1982, hiding away at a McDonald's location on a branched timeline.

And sure enough, they find her there, working behind the counter.
4. What devices are used to allow Loki and Mobius to locate members of the TVA?

Answer: TemPads

After having grabbed a TemPad off Brad Wolfe/Hunter X-5, and checked out with both O.B. and Casey, it's soon determined that these typical TVA devices can be of great use to tracking not only Sylvie, but Renslayer. It's especially important because locating the latter will lead them to Miss Minutes, and though Ouroboros takes time to retrofit the Loom to handle all the new branches, he absolutely needs Miss Minutes or He Who Remains to access the device and fix the problem.

This is further complicated when Sylvie is located in another timeline, revealing that she's eager to dig into a new life away from everything happening with the TVA and its problems. What she allows herself to do, despite her reservations, is control X-5's mind, unlocking the truth and revealing that General Dox has gone rogue to prune all of the branched timelines. They locate Dox and fight back in an attempt to save as many worlds as they can, capturing the perpetrators. Unfortunately, countless are pruned, lost forever.

The one positive is that a hit is received on Renslayer's TemPad, still active on an unharmed branch. While Sylvie heads back to her new life, Loki and Mobius pursue the new lead with haste. O.B. lets them know, before they head to branched iterations of Chicago, that the pruned timelines are growing back quickly, and because there are so many, the Loom is all the more likely to break down quicker.

Chicago's the right place to be. Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes headed there to drop off a TVA handbook in 1868, and by the time the Chicago World's Fair rolls around in 1893, someone's created a prototype of the TVA's Temporal Loom.
5. To Victor Timely, Miss Minutes expresses her interest in which of these?

Answer: Obtaining a body

It's a Variant of He Who Remains, one Victor Timely, who's able to take Renslayer's notes and make them into something of great significance. When Loki and Mobius find him, they aren't the only ones in pursuit; Timely is the target of several people in his own time and in several others. Loki is able hold off Sylvie, there to kill another Variant of He Who Remains, but Timely departs with Renslayer and Miss Minutes.

The time alone with the pair allows Timely to understand the sequence of events that led him to his then-present circumstances, but his realization has him refusing advances from both Renslayer (who wants to work with him in overseeing and repairing the TVA) and Miss Minutes (who asks him for a body and tries to pursue him romantically).

Eventually, everyone converges on Timely once more and Sylvie finds herself granted another opportunity to put an end to the Variant. When he reminds her of the choice he has in the fate she believes for him, however, she spares him, allowing Loki to bring the man back to the TVA to use his temporal aura for the Loom. Renslayer, however, she transports to the Citadel at the End of Time, and there, she reactivates Miss Minutes, finds He Who Remains' dead body, and braces herself for an even bigger revelation about herself and the man she sought to partner with.
6. Miss Minutes reveals that Ravonna Renslayer once played which role?

Answer: Leader of He Who Remains' army

Miss Minutes reveals the surprising truth to Renslayer that she and He Who Remains were working together, not only leading the TVA throughout its history, but overseeing and commanding an army. To protect everything and set his plans into motion, he executed a procedure to wipe Renslayer's mind along with the memories of everyone working at the TVA. With this in mind, Miss Minutes and Renslayer reason that perhaps they never really needed him in the first place.

With this insight, Renslayer and Miss Minutes head back to the TVA, break into the detainment rooms, and free X-5, General Dox, and the others under watch. When the others realize Renslayer's plan is to bring it all down from the inside, however, they choose to be killed instead of continue as turncoats. Only X-5 joins Renslayer's cause, managing to get the upper hand and kidnapping Timely while he's out to grab a cup of hot cocoa.

It all leads Loki and Sylvie to race through the TVA to retrieve their one key to saving the Loom. Miss Minutes traps Sylvie in one of the elevators, but Loki ends up encountering himself-- at least a version of himself who'd earlier time slipped into this moment. He ends up using a TimeStick to prune this version, sending him back to his proper moment to continue the cycle.

While O.B. works to solve the TVA's tech issues, Sylvie is able to use her magic, compelling X-5 to prune Renslayer, removing her from the situation altogether.
7. An overabundance of temporal radiation, according to O.B., will cause everything in time and space to turn to which of these?

Answer: Spaghetti

Timely is brought forth to the TVA as its agents strive to keep things stable with the Loom. When he meets Casey and Ouroboros, they all discover that a paradox has been created; Timely inspired O.B. to write the TVA handbook, but O.B. learned everything from Timely. They put the confusion aside to start their plan. As O.B. explains, someone needs to bring the Throughput Multiplier out to the Loom to widen the rings and allow the device to take in more timelines. The problem is that there's more temporal radiation outside than ever before. Haste would be of the utmost importance. Timely volunteers to head out.

The problem is that when he's kidnapped by X-5, it leads the Loom to deteriorate even more. Ouroboros is able to make Miss Minutes shut down (leaving her to tell Timely he'll 'never been him' before going offline) to grant access to the Sacred Timeline. Loki and Sylvie bring him back to the Loom, use his temporal aura to make the blast doors open, and allow him to don the suit to operate the Multiplier.

Unfortunately for everyone, it's too late. The temporal radiation has reached a critical point, and when the blast doors open, he's instantly unravelled-- 'spaghettified' as Ouroboros originally theorized. It spells the end. The Loom ruptures and the blast destroys everything in the blink of an eye.

Loki finds himself alone in an empty TVA facility as he starts to time slip again. Struggling to get a grip on himself, he realizes that everything around him is starting to unravel, spaghettifying as it could be said. Fortunately, he shunts through the Multiverse at the right moment, appearing elsewhere and elsewhen.
8. Prompted by Sylvie, Loki admits that his greatest fear is which of these?

Answer: Being alone

As Loki slips into other times and places along branched timelines, he discovers that the others from the TVA-- Casey, Hunter B-15, Mobius, and Ouroboros-- have all been reset, placed by the TVA's failsafe into their safest, original timelines. It's the safe Ouroboros, found in Pasadena, California in a branched 1994, living as science fiction author Dr. A.D. Doug, who proves to be the biggest help operating out of his machine shop.

Loki asks how to get back to the moment before the explosion, but A.D. says he can't-- it doesn't exist anymore. What he has to do instead is control his time slipping, and to do that, he'll need to focus. Everyone who was with him at the time had a temporal aura, and if that's present again, he can hone in on the space and time he'd been plucked from. It means getting the band back together.

And Loki's pretty successful in this, convincing the others while O.B. creates a makeshift TemPad out with his self-created TVA handbook (over nineteen months in his own timeline). When he comes across Sylvie, still working out of McDonald's, he finds that she's the only one who still recalls her true self. A quick ride to the local bar boils it all down; she doesn't want to help, keeping the cycle going by returning. She wants a life, and it's selfish, but it's fair.

Sylvie asks Loki what he really wants and she gets it out of him-- he wants to save the TVA because he wants his friends back. He doesn't want to be alone.

It's only moments after she departs before her timeline starts to unravel.
9. Does the Throughput Multiplier succeed in repairing the Loom?

Answer: No

Once Sylvie's realm starts to spaghettify, she joins Loki and the others in A.D.'s shop in one last-ditch effort to save what she can. Her arrival there, unfortunately, also marks the unravelling of that branched timeline. As the others start to vanish, Loki realizes that he can do something by rewriting his own story. He focuses, hard, on Ouroboros and he time slips to the moment in time and space that he needs-- the moment before the explosion of the Loom in the TVA.

Though this might appear to be the moment at which Loki might be able to do something to save the Loom, he finds over and over again that there's no real way to fix the fact that the Loom at that key point in time. It means starting the process earlier and earlier, bringing Victor Timely in sooner and rushing through the need-to-know in an effort to beat the failing device.

All of this fails. After centuries of trying and even after Timely makes it to the Loom with the Throughput Multiplier, it's determined that the timelines are multiplying at an infinite rate. There's no amount of multiplying that will solve the Temporal Loom issue. It will never succeed. As soon as the timelines started branching, this was doomed to happen.

And so Loki decides to go back further, and it brings him to the moment in time when he and Sylvie encountered He Who Remains at the Citadel at the End of Time. It's the moment that marked the beginning of the end, and it's his only chance to change what happened.
10. Loki reconstructs the Sacred Timeline, reconstructing it in what form?

Answer: A tree

Loki brings himself to the Citadel at the End of Time to stand between Sylvie's blade and He Who Remains and he tells her that she can not kill him. It leads to multiple battles in this final chamber, most of which result in Sylvie getting the upper hand and killing her target, even going so far as suggesting that Loki will need to kill her instead.

He Who Remains pauses time to speak to Loki frankly and they discuss the Temporal Loom. The device was always meant to be a failsafe; it deletes the ones not supposed to be there-- everything except the Sacred Timeline. The TVA is just collateral damage; it can be rebuilt. He Who Remains already has a lot of Variants out there and there's no stopping them. The solution is always going to end up being the same.

And so Loki decides to change the equation. If the destruction of the Loom will result in multiversal war, then he'll just need to take He Who Remains' place, overseeing the Timeline himself as best he can. He slips through time and space, reaffirming his decision before returning to the final moments at the TVA, heading down into the blast chamber, and heading out to face the Loom himself, finally certain of the God he needs to be.

With the others watching on, Loki heads down the walkway to the control unit and destroys the Temporal Loom altogether. And as the timelines scatter into the Void, he reaches out, grabs the branching timelines, and infuses them with his magic, gathering them together before looking back at his friends one last time. Walking out into the darkness, he ascends to the spot at which the Citadel at the End of Time once stood. Instead of reforming the timelines as a single strand, he takes his throne to form them as a tree, spreading the infinite branches out to grow and flourish.

In the aftermath, the TVA transitions from monitoring the Loom to monitoring the Variants of He Who Remains. They are not yet aware of the TVA's presence. As Hunter B-15 takes a spot overseeing the TVA, Mobius chooses to retire and live a life he'd spent so long protecting. Sylvie joins him in looking into what could be.

O.B., with Timely's help, writes a new version of the TVA manual. In another timeline, a version of Timely doesn't receive it.

Ravonna Renslayer, having been pruned, awakens somewhere in the Void, coming face to face with Alioth.
