Question 12 of 15
12. Season 1: "Raised By Another"

Hurley is questioning survivors in his quest to create a census. At one point he questions Boone, who informs him that cross referencing everyone's name would be much easier if he had the plane's passenger manifest. Hurley asks Boone where the manifest is so Boone sends Hurley off to talk to Sawyer...

Hurley: "I'm just gonna lay it out straight."
Sawyer: "Okay, you do that."
Hurley: "I hear you have the flight manifest and I need it and I want you to give it to me."
Sawyer: "That so?"
Hurley: "Now, you could do what you normally do when someone asks you for something, tell me to screw off."
Sawyer: "Screw off?"
Hurley: "Or you could just give it to me, 'cause dude, you could use the points."
Sawyer: "Well, gosh, you sure know how to butter a man up, stay-puff."
Hurley: "______________."

What does Hurley say in response to Sawyer's comment?
Hint

Question 13 of 15
13. Season 1: "Born to Run"

Someone has poisoned Michael and both Locke and Jack investigate. In this scene, Locke is questioning Hurley as Jack approaches them...

Hurley: "I'm on bamboo duty, but yeah, sometimes I'll help refill the water."
Locke: "Michael and Jin getting along?"
Hurley: "Well, they fight like a married couple building a raft together."
Locke: [to Jack] "You told him?"
Jack: [about Michael] "He thinks Sawyer might've done it."
Hurley: "Oh. 'Cause of Kate?"
Jack: "Kate?"
Hurley: "Yeah, I guess she wants on the raft so Sawyer went off on Michael because, you know, he gets to decide who goes... Hey? You don't think Kate did it, do you?"
Locke: "Why would Kate poison Michael?"
Hurley: "Well, you know, the whole fugitive thing..." [Jack sighs and Locke, having just heard this for the first time, makes a shocked face. Hurley turns to Jack] "He doesn't know?" [Jack shakes his head] "Well, how am I supposed to keep straight who knows what around here?! I mean, _______ didn't even know ________________."

According to Hurley, who didn't know what?
Hint

Question 14 of 15
14. Season 1: "Numbers"

Hurley goes on a quest to find Rousseau and ask her about the numbers she has written all over her maps and papers, the very same numbers that he used to win the lottery. Upon discovering Rousseau in the forest, Hurley pleads for some answers...

Hurley: "Please... tell me why you wrote this. What do these numbers mean?"
Rousseau: "I don't know."
Hurley: "What? You don't know?! Okay... that thing in the woods? Maybe it's a monster... maybe it's a ________________, I dunno! The fact that no one is even looking for us, yeah, that's weird. But I just go along with it... 'cause I'm along for the ride... Good old fun-time Hurley! Well, guess what? Now? I want some friggin' answers!"

What else does Hurley suggest the mysterious island "creature" might be?
Hint

Question 15 of 15
15. Season 2: "Dave"

I'll end off with one of Hurley's more bittersweet and dramatic quotes because even good-old fun-time Hurley needs to vent every now and then:

Hurley's 'Dave' hallucinations have convinced him that he's not really stranded on a deserted island and is, in fact, dreaming the entire scenario. In his hallucination, Dave tells him that in order for him to wake up from his 'island' hallucination he must jump off the cliff, thereby shocking his brain back into reality. Just as Hurley steps onto the ledge to jump, Libby finds him...

Libby: "Hurley, what's going on?"
Hurley: "No! You're just the part of me that's scared. You don't want me to wake up. Well, guess what? I'm not scared." [Hurley takes a step backwards closer to the edge]
Libby: "Okay, okay, Hurley... you're having some sort of panic attack, I get that... but this isn't like you."
Hurley: "Like me? You don't know me!"
Libby: "I was starting to."
Hurley: "Yeah, well, did you know I'm so fat that I killed two people? And that I have an imaginary friend?"
Libby: "Hurley, please, you're gonna hurt yourself."
Hurley: "No, I'm not, because this isn't happening. None of it. I'm just imagining it. This isn't real life."
Libby: "Why would you say that?"
Hurley: "Because... in real life... ________________."

Finish Hurley's line.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Season 2: "Dave" In this episode, Hurley has a recurring hallucination involving a bald guy named Dave who he "met" while at the mental hospital. During one scene, Hurley is seen chasing "Dave" through the forest before coming out to a clearing where Eko and Charlie are building their church... Charlie: "You okay, Hurley?" Hurley: "Did either of you see a guy run through here... in a bathrobe... with a __________?" What word fills the blank in Hurley's line?

Answer: coconut

Charlie: "You okay, Hurley?"
Hurley: "Did either of you see a guy run through here... in a bathrobe... with a coconut?"
Charlie: "No... saw a polar bear on roller blades with a mango."
Eko: "I did not see anything, Hurley."
Hurley: "Yeah... me neither."

Dave had used the coconut to throw at Hurley in an effort to make Hurley realize that he wasn't hallucinating. He then picked up another coconut and took off running into the woods. Hurley gave chase, but quickly lost Dave in the brush before coming out into the clearing. I got to say though, Charlie holds his own with the comedic timing. The two of them together make a great comedic duo.
2. Season 2: "... And Found" Sun has lost her wedding ring and the ever-helpful Hurley tells her to retrace her steps in order to find it. When Sun mentions that she had fed Vincent earlier in the day, Hurley believes that maybe Vincent ate the ring. Sun is not so inclined to believe that, so Hurley explains... Hurley: "Dude, dogs will eat anything. When I was a kid, my dog Buster... I had this drawer where I'd throw all my change, right? And, I guess there were some Smarties in there, so like the next day... Buster __________________." According to Hurley, what did Buster do the next day?

Answer: crapped out $1.35 in nickels

Which means Buster ate 27 nickels! Which makes me wonder just who counted that money... Anyway, Hurley tells this story with a huge grin on his face, but Sun seems a little grossed out by the end of it. When the silence that ensues gets a little awkward, Hurley asks Sun if she's ever had a dog. Sun says she has and tells Hurley the story of her dog, Bpo Bpo.
3. Season 1: "Raised by Another" Claire has been attacked in her sleep and many of the survivors are scared. In one scene, Hurley approaches Jack after a search for the culprit... Hurley: "We hoofed around the entire perimeter, man." Jack: "Nobody saw or heard anything?" Hurley: "Uh-uh, nada. Everyone was asleep. So, I had an idea... I'm out here looking for some psycho with Scott and Steve, right? And I'm realizing... _______________" Finish the Hurley quote.

Answer: Who the hell are Scott and Steve?

This is the scene and episode where Hurley devises the plan to check off everyone's name with the plane's passenger manifest. This decision was crucial to the plot of the show as it is what led Hurley to realize that Ethan was never actually on the plane, which consequently led to wide spread viewer speculation about "others" on the island.
4. Season 1: "Hearts and Minds" Hurley has followed Jin into the ocean to learn how to catch fish. After some futile attempts at catching fish with a makeshift net (basically one of his shirts tied to two sticks), a frustrated Hurley tries to get back to shore but ends up stepping on a sea urchin. Later, as Jin tries to nurse Hurley back to health, Hurley asks Jin a question that's been floating around camp... Hurley: "You sure you don't speak English? 'Cause there's a rumour that you do..." Jin doesn't respond, so Hurley takes a different approach and simply makes a statement. What does Hurley say to try and get a rise out of Jin, therefore proving he understands English?

Answer: "Your wife's hot."

Jin doesn't respond to this either, which seems to satisfy Hurley for the time being that Jin does not understand English. Jin then makes Hurley eat the sea urchin, which then makes Hurley barf... or hurl, even. (wink)
5. Season 1: "Numbers" Think back to Hurley's flashback when he learned he'd won the lottery. At one point during that scene, he is sitting on a couch eating fried chicken and flipping channels. His mother is in the kitchen but we can hear her talking to him... Hurley: "Un momento, mama, I'm just checking something out." Mrs. Reyes: "I hope you're not watching those G-string mujeres again." Hurley: "Look, ma, we talked about this. If you want me living here, you gotta respect my privacy. And, no, I'm not." Mrs. Reyes: "Look at you... It's Saturday night... a grown up man sitting at home watching TV. You should go out. Try to find yourself a nice woman." Hurley: "____________________." What is Hurley's response to his mother's comment?

Answer: Yeah, I'll get right on that

Hurley's face is priceless as he says this, and although his mom couldn't see his face she certainly heard the sarcasm in his voice. She then tells him to at least try eating better because he's gaining weight again. At this point, however, he's found the lottery channel and is more focused on the numbers.
6. Season 2: "Man of Science" In the season two premiere, both Jack and Hurley are worried about Locke's state of mind. As the foursome of Kate, Locke, Jack and Hurley head back to the caves after blowing the door off the hatch, Kate and Locke get ahead of both Jack and Hurley who, in this scene, are walking together... Hurley: "You should go ahead man, you don't want Locke making time with your girl." [Jack gives him look] "Joke, dude." Jack: "I'm not really in the mood, Hurley." Hurley: "Really? Wow, 'cause usually you're like Mr. Ha-ha." [Jack chuckles] "There ya go... Life's not so bad, right? I mean, sure, the others are coming to, like, eat us all, and every once in a while someone blows up all over you, but ___________________." Finish Hurley's quote.

Answer: we do get to sleep in every morning

Jack then questions Hurley about the numbers and Hurley is forced to tell Jack the story about the mental institution and winning the lottery and thinking that the numbers were cursed. Jack dismisses the story and instead chooses to focus on the fact that Hurley has just admitted he was in a mental institution. Hurley insists the numbers are cursed but Jack doesn't agree with Hurley and instead tells him that they're just numbers.
7. Season 1: "Tabula Rasa" Jack, Kate, and Charlie have returned from their trip to find the cockpit . In this scene, while Jack is looking after the injured marshal, an excited Hurley is asking about the monster that ate the pilot... Hurley: "Was it a dinosaur?" Jack: "It wasn't a dinosaur." Hurley: "You said you didn't see it." Jack: "I didn't." Hurley: "So how do you know it wasn't a dinosaur?" Jack: "Because dinosaurs are extinct." Hurley: "Oh. Yeah. So what's his story?" [glances at the marshal] "He looks kinda... _________." How does Hurley say the marshal looks?

Answer: Dying

Jack takes exception to this comment and tells Hurley that he's not dying. Hurley points out that he has turned yellow. Jack explains that the wound is infected, but that the antibiotics will fight it off. Hurley speculates about the antibiotics possibly not working, and Jack tells him that if that happens, the marshal's body will begin to shut down one piece at a time.
8. Season 1: "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" Ethan has killed Scott in his attempt to prove that more will die if Claire is not returned to him, and after Scott's burial, Hurley takes it upon himself to perform a brief eulogy for the lost survivor... Hurley: "Scott Jackson worked for an Internet company in Santa Cruz. He won a sales prize... two-week Australian vacation, all expenses paid. He was a good guy. Sorry _______________." Complete Hurley's line.

Answer: I kept calling you Steve, man

Scott and Steve are sort of a running gag on LOST. Not only did the survivors seem to mix them up, but even us viewers never got a clear idea of who was who during season one. Even after Scott's death, Steve is only referred to in passing and is never clearly identified nor does he have any part in the dialogue (yet).
9. Season 2: "Dave" Hurley fears he is having hallucinations and approaches Sawyer for some medication. When Sawyer makes fun of Hurley in his time of need, Hurley snaps and attacks Sawyer. In the ensuing brawl, the two manage to knock down Sawyer's shelter before Hurley is finally pulled off Sawyer. Embarrassed and ashamed of himself, Hurley packs some food into a backpack as if he's going somewhere. Enter Libby... Libby: "Where you going?" Hurley: "Back to the caves. No one lives there anymore so I won't bother anybody... see, I'll live alone and be one of those guys... you know, the crazy guys with the big beard and no clothes who's naked and __________________." Finish Hurley's quote.

Answer: Throws doody at people

Hurley had packed a couple tubs of peanut butter as Libby came into his shelter on the beach. She observes that he's packing a lot of peanut better, and Hurley explains that he's going to need a lot of protein where he's going. Libby then asks where he's going which is what leads up to the Hurley quote.

After he says this, Libby tries to convince Hurley not to go, but he is determined and starts his trek into the forest.
10. Season 1: "The Greater Good" Charlie is cradling a crying baby Aaron in his arms as he walks up the beach. He can be heard singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" as he walks along. Hurley is fishing by the shore as Charlie passes by and hears Charlie singing to Aaron... Charlie: "Down came the rain and drowned the spider out..." Hurley: "Dude, it's washed... 'washed the spider out'... unless there's some kind of British version..." Charlie: "Oh. Okay. 'Down came the rain and washed the spider out'.... oh, bollocks... shhhh, shush." Hurley: "What's the matter, man?" Charlie: "I can't get the bloody thing to stop crying." Hurley: "Maybe he's hungry." Charlie: "No. Claire nursed him 5 times. Hurley: "Has he made any deposits? You know, diaper-wise?" [Charlie smells Aaron and shakes his head] "All right... time to break out the big guns...." What song does Hurley sing next to try and calm baby Aaron?

Answer: "Whoa! I Feel Good" by James Brown

Unfortunately, neither the song nor Hurley's singing voice succeed in calming the baby down. In fact, it seemed to aggravate him. When Hurley shrugs and says that's all he's got, a frustrated Charlie is forced to find another way to calm Aaron down. Luckily for him, he later happens by Sawyer whose voice seems to work wonders, and it's only when Sawyer is not talking that Aaron cries.
11. Season 1: "Tabula Rasa". Hurley happened upon Kate's mug shot in an earlier scene, and in this scene he chats with Jack... Hurley: "So what'd she say?" Jack: "She didn't say anything." Hurley: "But you told her you know?" Jack: "I don't know anything." Hurley: "Well, you kinda know she's in that mug shot... and we found those handcuffs... and that guy who keeps mumbling, "She's dangerous, she's dangerous" over and over..." Jack: "It' not my business, not my problem." Hurley: "Yeah, you're right... we'll let Johnny Fever take care of her when he gets better." Jack: "He's not getting any better if we don't get stronger antibiotics." Hurley: "That stuff I got from the luggage..." Jack: "For ear infections and foot fungus." Hurley: "We went through everything, man." Jack: "What about the luggage in the overhead compartments?" Hurley: "That's inside the plane..." Jack: "Yeah." Hurley: "But the bodies are in there... and they're all... ________." What FOUR-letter word does Hurley use to describe the bodies?

Answer: Dead

Hurley looks genuinely disgusted at the thought of even having to go near the plane, so instead of arguing with him, Jack simply tells Hurley that he will take care of it if Hurley stays to look after the marshal. Hurley doesn't even hesitate and practically runs to the marshal's side, happy to be relieved of the horrifying task that Jack is going to undertake.
12. Season 1: "Raised By Another" Hurley is questioning survivors in his quest to create a census. At one point he questions Boone, who informs him that cross referencing everyone's name would be much easier if he had the plane's passenger manifest. Hurley asks Boone where the manifest is so Boone sends Hurley off to talk to Sawyer... Hurley: "I'm just gonna lay it out straight." Sawyer: "Okay, you do that." Hurley: "I hear you have the flight manifest and I need it and I want you to give it to me." Sawyer: "That so?" Hurley: "Now, you could do what you normally do when someone asks you for something, tell me to screw off." Sawyer: "Screw off?" Hurley: "Or you could just give it to me, 'cause dude, you could use the points." Sawyer: "Well, gosh, you sure know how to butter a man up, stay-puff." Hurley: "______________." What does Hurley say in response to Sawyer's comment?

Answer: It's a gift

Hurley and Sawyer are in Sawyer's shelter. Sawyer is laying on his bed made out of airplane seats and has on this ridiculous pair of girly sunglasses. Sawyer is more amused by Hurley's request than he is outwardly curious about it, so he allows Hurley to take the manifest which is in a suitcase nearby.
13. Season 1: "Born to Run" Someone has poisoned Michael and both Locke and Jack investigate. In this scene, Locke is questioning Hurley as Jack approaches them... Hurley: "I'm on bamboo duty, but yeah, sometimes I'll help refill the water." Locke: "Michael and Jin getting along?" Hurley: "Well, they fight like a married couple building a raft together." Locke: [to Jack] "You told him?" Jack: [about Michael] "He thinks Sawyer might've done it." Hurley: "Oh. 'Cause of Kate?" Jack: "Kate?" Hurley: "Yeah, I guess she wants on the raft so Sawyer went off on Michael because, you know, he gets to decide who goes... Hey? You don't think Kate did it, do you?" Locke: "Why would Kate poison Michael?" Hurley: "Well, you know, the whole fugitive thing..." [Jack sighs and Locke, having just heard this for the first time, makes a shocked face. Hurley turns to Jack] "He doesn't know?" [Jack shakes his head] "Well, how am I supposed to keep straight who knows what around here?! I mean, _______ didn't even know ________________." According to Hurley, who didn't know what?

Answer: Steve didn't know about the polar bear

By this time in the series, Scott had been long dead, and it's amazing that Steve didn't know about the polar bear. This scene takes place on the beach and Hurley looks annoyed about all the hidden truths. He appears to continue mumbling to himself as Jack and Locke talk about more pressing matters, one of them being the fact that Locke just found out about Kate's fugitive status.
14. Season 1: "Numbers" Hurley goes on a quest to find Rousseau and ask her about the numbers she has written all over her maps and papers, the very same numbers that he used to win the lottery. Upon discovering Rousseau in the forest, Hurley pleads for some answers... Hurley: "Please... tell me why you wrote this. What do these numbers mean?" Rousseau: "I don't know." Hurley: "What? You don't know?! Okay... that thing in the woods? Maybe it's a monster... maybe it's a ________________, I dunno! The fact that no one is even looking for us, yeah, that's weird. But I just go along with it... 'cause I'm along for the ride... Good old fun-time Hurley! Well, guess what? Now? I want some friggin' answers!" What else does Hurley suggest the mysterious island "creature" might be?

Answer: pissed off giraffe

Rousseau is sympathetic after Hurley's little rant and tells Hurley all she knows about the numbers. She tells him she agrees with him that the numbers are cursed, which is what Hurley's been wanting to hear all along. Hurley thanks Rousseau by wrapping his arms around her for a good old fun-time bear hug.
15. Season 2: "Dave" I'll end off with one of Hurley's more bittersweet and dramatic quotes because even good-old fun-time Hurley needs to vent every now and then: Hurley's 'Dave' hallucinations have convinced him that he's not really stranded on a deserted island and is, in fact, dreaming the entire scenario. In his hallucination, Dave tells him that in order for him to wake up from his 'island' hallucination he must jump off the cliff, thereby shocking his brain back into reality. Just as Hurley steps onto the ledge to jump, Libby finds him... Libby: "Hurley, what's going on?" Hurley: "No! You're just the part of me that's scared. You don't want me to wake up. Well, guess what? I'm not scared." [Hurley takes a step backwards closer to the edge] Libby: "Okay, okay, Hurley... you're having some sort of panic attack, I get that... but this isn't like you." Hurley: "Like me? You don't know me!" Libby: "I was starting to." Hurley: "Yeah, well, did you know I'm so fat that I killed two people? And that I have an imaginary friend?" Libby: "Hurley, please, you're gonna hurt yourself." Hurley: "No, I'm not, because this isn't happening. None of it. I'm just imagining it. This isn't real life." Libby: "Why would you say that?" Hurley: "Because... in real life... ________________." Finish Hurley's line.

Answer: No girl like you would ever like me.

Hurley goes on to say that he's realized that the reason why he feels like he knows Libby from somewhere is because he made her up, meaning she's just part of the whole hallucination. Libby takes exception to this and asks Hurley to tell her the name of the man she helped with the broken leg that died on the other side of the island. Hurley thinks for a moment but cannot come up with a name. Libby then explains that he doesn't know the man's name because it didn't happen to Hurley, it happened to her, which therefore proves that Hurley couldn't have made her up and that she's real. Libby then kisses Hurley and tells him that the kiss was also real... Hurley suggests she kiss him again just to make sure.
