Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To which destination did teams travel in Leg 7?

Answer: Hong Kong

Departing from the sixth Pit Stop of the race in Karin Village, teams were instructed to go to the Seven Spires in Chiang Mai with only a map to guide their way. Teams departed at night having arrived at the Pit Stop earlier in the morning, despite this, all teams departed within a half hour of each other. Once at the Seven Spires temple, teams were instructed to leave their cars behind and get to the nearest airport. Once there, teams needed to fly to Hong Kong and reach the upper-most floor of the tallest tower in the city to find the next clue box.

This is the second race to feature China as a destination, the first being the final two legs of the first "Amazing Race". Because the airport in Chiang Mai was closed until the morning, teams were on equal ground and eventually, the same flight to Hong Kong.
2. In Leg 7, teams needed to find what coloured star to find their next clue?

Answer: Green and white

Teams arriving in Hong Kong had to make their way to Central Plaza, the tallest building within the city. To do this, they needed to take a train from the airport into the city, reach the building, and take elevator #29 (marked by a flag) to the top floor to find the clue. Once there, teams needed to find a green and white star using a pair of binoculars.

This green and white star, which indicates a ferry terminal in the harbor, shows teams that they need to ride a ferry across the bay to their next route marker. Teams at the top of the Central Plaza could also opt to take the Fast Forward for this leg of the race in which they needed to find a woman named Amelia Chau in a marketplace near Wong Tai Sin Temple and get a palm and face reading to receive their clue. Both Gary and Dave and Mary and Peach opted to take this task, but only one walked away with the clue.
3. Which team did not complete the 'Herbal Tea' Detour task of Leg 7?

Answer: Oswald and Danny

Once on the other side of the bay, teams obtained the Detour clue, a choice between 'Wishing Tree' or 'Herbal Tea'. In 'Wishing Tree', teams were required to take a taxi 18 miles to a location known as the 'wishing tree'. Once there, teams simply needed to write down their wish on a roll of paper, toss it in with the tree, and receive their clue.

Although the task is easy, it's far away. Oswald and Danny were the only team to complete this task. In 'Herbal Tea', teams needed to walk to a nearby tea shop in a confusing maze of shops and corridors and purchase a cup of tea. Once both members drank this foul-tasting beverage, which may be harder than expected, they would receive their clue. Tara and Wil, Chris and Alex, Blake and Paige, and Mary and Peach attempted this task. Once complete, teams would receive their next clue.
4. Which team member did not complete the shipping crate Road Block task in Leg 7?

Answer: Oswald

After the Detour, teams made their way to the HIT Terminals, the world's biggest container port. Once there, in the middle of a maze of large, steel containers, teams found the Road Block clue, requiring that one team member climb to the top of a large crane and use the controls and devices to pick up a two ton crate from the back of a truck. Once the crane was used to place the container on the ground and the lift was placed in its original position, the other team member could claim the clue from the side of the box and the task would be finished. Blake, Chris, Tara, and Danny all completed this task and received their clues.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 7?

Answer: Mary and Peach

After the Road Block, teams needed to make their way to Hong Kong Harbor, hitch a ride on a sampan, and travel to their Pit Stop on a Chinese junk boat in the middle of the bay. Gary and Dave, who snagged the Fast Forward early in the Leg, were able to skip all tasks and they arrived at the Pit Stop in first place. Of the remaining racing teams, Chris and Alex prevailed and came in second place, first amongst the leg's racers. Mary and Peach, who made a couple of fatal errors upon arriving in Hong Kong, were unable to catch up with the remaining teams and were subsequently eliminated from the race.
6. Which team took the Fast Forward in Leg 8?

Answer: None of these

Gary and Dave, who arrived early in Leg 7, departed at four in the morning. Once opening their clue, they were required to find the largest statue of Tien-Hou at Repulse Bay. The only catch was that the location opened at eight in the morning, so all teams would be equalized.

Although a Fast Forward clue would have been available to teams at Po Lin Monastery (after teams climbed nearly three hundred stairs to Hong Kong's largest Buddha), none of the teams opted to go for it. At the statue of Tien-Hou, teams found their next clue instructing them to find Murray House in Stanley, Hong Kon, one of the oldest examples of Western Architecture in the city.

It is here where teams found their Detour.
7. What did teams have to use in order to complete the 'Dragon' Detour task of Leg 8?

Answer: A boat

At Murray House, teams found the Detour task, a choice between 'Dragon' and 'Lion'. In 'Dragon', teams needed to grab a dragon boat on the waterfront and paddle it around a 600 meter marked course in the water. At the end, they would receive their next clue.

In 'Lion', teams needed to don a ceremonial lion costume for two people and travel down a course four times as long as the dragon boat course through narrow streets and markets. While Danny and Oswald and Blake and Paige decided to complete the 'Lion' Detour task, the remaining teams decided to finish the 'Dragon' task in the nearby bay.

After this clue, teams headed to their new destination.
8. In Australia in Leg 8, which landmark were teams told to visit first?

Answer: Sydney Opera House

After the Detour task, teams were instructed to fly from Hong Kong to Sydney, Australia. Once in their new destination, teams needed to reach the steps of the world-famous Sydney Opera House. While Oswald and Danny easily procured tickets from Hong Kong to Singapore to Sydney, arriving early in the morning, the remaining four teams had to connect through Bangkok.

As a result, Oswald and Danny's luck placed them in first upon landing in the city; they reached the land down under at 6:25am while the remaining teams landed at 7:00am, giving them a rather modest lead.
9. During the Road Block in Leg 8, what was the first thing teams were told to find?

Answer: A Surfie in Lairy Daks

Arriving at the Sydney Opera House, teams found their next Road Block task. In this Road Block, one team member needed to analyze Cockney Slang and find numerous people with clues that would inevitably lead to their next bit of route info. To begin, team members needed to take a bus to find a 'Surfie in Lairy Daks' at Martin's Place. Next, they needed to go to High Park to find a 'True-Blue Anklebiter'.

After this, in the same location, near the statue of Captain Cook, team members would need to find the 'Sheila in an Aussie Cozzie'. Finally, teams needed to find a 'Bushie' for their final clue, taking them back to their team members at the Opera House. Players needed to complete all of these before returning to their partners. Oswald, Dave, Alex, Wil, and Blake all completed this task.
10. Which team is last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Sydney in Leg 8?

Answer: Blake and Paige

The final clue instructed teams to make their way to the eighth Pit Stop of the race, the rooftop of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. Oswald and Danny, having arrived in Sydney earlier than the rest of the teams, were the first to arrive at this location. Because Wil and Blake had trouble during the Road Block task, both players pushed their teams further back in the Leg, and as a result, Tara and Wil and Blake and Paige placed fourth and fifth place respectively.

Although Blake and Paige arrived in last place on the rooftop, they were saved by the non-elimination leg, the second of its kind during the race. For coming in first place on this leg, Oswald and Danny won a week-long Caribbean cruise vacation.
