Both Jacques Brel and Jean-Claude Van Damme are from Brussels, Belgium.

Brel was born in 1929. While he was a successful actor, he was an even more successful singer. In 1972, a jukebox musical opened called "Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris," using songs he had written. Aside from writing the song, he was not involved with the show. However, in 1975, when it was made into a movie, he had a cameo as himself in the film. He died three years later at the age of 49 from lung cancer.

Jean-Claude Van Damme is a martial arts artist and an actor. He practiced martial arts professionally from 1976-1982. In kickboxing, he had 18 matches and lost only one. He is a second black belt in Shotokan karate. His nickname is "The Muscles from Brussels."

In acting, he has done several action movies such as "Blood Sport," and "Double Impact."
