Joan Crawford was born Lucille Fay LeSueur on 23rd March 1905. Her movie career spanned five decades from 1925 to 1970. Joan really didn't appear in that many film classics, "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane" (1962) and "Mildred Pierce" (1945) being the exceptions.

She died of a heart attack on 10th May 1977. Sadly she was also very ill with pancreatic cancer before her fatal heart attack.

John Sidney Blyth Barrymore was born on 15th February 1882. He started his career around 1913, mainly as a stage actor in light comedy. He progressed to Shakespearean plays such as "Hamlet" (1922) and "Richard III" (1920). He passed away just as the golden era of film was realizing its potential on 29th May 1942.

The cause of death was reported to be cirrhosis of the liver. Drew Barrymore is his granddaughter.

James Maitland Stewart was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on 20th May 1908. His film career spanned from the 1930s to the early 90s with classics such as "Rear Window" (1954), "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946) and the "The Philadelphia Story" (1940), for which he won his one and only Oscar.

He died on 2nd July 1997; the cause of death was a blood clot on his lung. He was 89 years of age. His wife of 45 years, Gloria, died three years earlier in February 1994.

He was born in Bromley, England on 21st September 1866. He was the author of classic novels such as "The Time Machine" and "The War of the Worlds" (he had over a hundred books to his credit). His cause of death is unknown. However, he was diabetic and speculation has it that this may have contributed to his death on 13th August 1946.

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was born on 16th October 1854 in Dublin, Ireland. A gifted writer and poet his best works include "Lady Windermere's Fan" (1892) and the brilliant "The Importance of Being Earnest" (1895). In 1891 he wrote his only novel, the classic "The Picture of Dorian Gray". He died on 30th November 1900 of cerebral meningitis.

The characters he played where usually gangsters types. He went on to playing detectives like Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade in "The Maltese Falcon" (1941). One of his best movies and my personal favorite "The African Queen" was made in 1952.

He died of cancer on 14th January 1957.

He formed the band Nirvana in 1986, "Bleach" was their debut album released in 1989. Kurt Cobain shot himself on 5th April 1994. He left one daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, who sadly was only two years old when her father died. The actress Drew Barrymore is her godmother. "It's better to burn out than to fade away" was said by Clancy Brown's character The Kurgan in the movie "The Highlander" (1986).

George Sanders (born 3rd July 1906, in St. Petersburg Russia), took his own life in a Spanish hotel room on the 25th April 1972. He died after swallowing Nembutal capsules. The Sanders family lived in Russia but returned to England with George and his siblings when the Russian Revolution broke out in 1917.

His movie career started in 1934 with "Love, Life and Laughter", but his part as a singer in a public bar was uncredited. He went on to star in "Find the Lady" (1936) where he played the part of Curly Randall.
