Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the three-year-old girl that Mom babysat for a couple of weeks, much to the chagrin of Ebenezer and Snooch?

Answer: Vera

At first, the cats thought that Mom was agreeing to catsit...until Vera showed up and terrified them out of their wits.
2. Which of these things did Snooch NOT experience while the three-year-old girl was staying at the lumps' house?

Answer: The girl jumped directly on top of him.

First, Mom tried to show Vera that the cats enjoyed being pet softly by stroking Snooch on the head. Unfortunately, the concept of "tactile force recognition" was foreign to Vera, and she pounded the snot out of Snooch, dribbling him like a basketball. Second, Mom tried demonstrating how to pet a cat with a squishy hairbrush. Vera, however, found a toothbrush and jammed it in Snooch's ear, which Mom had to make an appointment with the vet to get extracted. After that, Mom tried to put Vera down for a nap, to the delight of both cats. Eben took this opportunity to take a nap of his own in a patch of sunlight. Of course, his repose was rudely interrupted when Vera body slammed him in an attempt to use him as a pillow. They both gave up on any hope of a respite and hid under a chair. When Vera tried to lure them out with a glass of milk, Snooch decided to trust her and came out of hiding, only to have her "give" him the milk by dumping it on his head.

Poor Snooch went through so much that day.
3. What state do Eben and Snooch live in?

Answer: Texas

Specifically, they live in Dallas. Texas weather is a frequent topic of discussion in the lumps' house. Especially of interest is Texas fall, which lasts for approximately ten minutes, after which the weather alternates schizophrenically between an average of 40 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. One term used by the creators of "Two Lumps" to describe this condition is THUNDERSNOW (yes, in all caps).
4. Which of these instruments does Snooch NOT play?

Answer: Guitar

When Snooch got a new harmonica, he held it in his mouth and blew in and out tunelessly and extremely loudly for a prolonged period of time, which irritated Eben greatly.

Snooch attempted to play a pennywhistle dressed as the Pied Piper of Ham because he thought he would be able to call meat pies that way. When Eben corrected him, saying that the Pied Piper of HamELIN used a pennywhistle to call rats, Snooch was sorely disappointed.

After the "Wizard of Oz" storyline came to a close, Eben and Snooch sang a song about how the storyline was finally over. According to Mel Hynes, the writer of "Two Lumps", this comic was acknowledging all of the fans who complained about lengthy storylines. During a portion of the song, Snooch played the banjo.

Snooch also played the bass guitar in a very early comic, but as yet, he has not played a guitar.
5. What is Ebenezer's last name?

Answer: Dusk

In the very first "Two Lumps" comic, Ebenezer introduces himself as Ebenezer Dusk, Esq. His brother, Snooch, receives a less cordial introduction, deemed by Eben "a slovenly git".
6. In a March 2007 comic, Snooch is revealed to be quite intelligent during a philosophical discussion with Eben about a certain play. Which play was it?

Answer: Waiting for Godot

Snooch: "All I'm saying is that the despair in the play, which is never defined as such but which pervades the lack of action and gives the play its metaphysical color, is the fact that the two tramps cannot not wait for Godot, and the corollary fact that he cannot come."

Once both of them realized that somebody was watching them (i.e. the reader), Snooch tried to cover with "I EAT POOP! A DURR DURRR!", but by then, the fourth wall had already been broken.
7. When Snooch ate an entire box of Kotex Mondo-Pads, what did he think they were?

Answer: Kolaches

Snooch had originally gotten the idea that the pads were kolaches from a cooking show. After Eben realized what he had done, he told Snooch that he was "either going to explode, or [his] stomach [would] be extra-absorbent and baby-powder fresh."
8. On Memorial Day 2007, what recipe did Snooch learn to make from watching PBS?

Answer: Flan de Courgettes avec Pesto

Snooch was learning to remember things because he thought it was Memory Day, not Memorial Day. After learning a complicated French recipe, he learned the Alphabet Song and how to say the word "ball". J. and Mel commented that this was on par to PBS' current schizophrenic schedule, which "has gotten more and more eclectic over the years."
9. When Snooch made brownies, which ingredient did he add that knocked him out for two days?

Answer: Mustard

When Snooch came to, he found that he had slept through Memorial Day, which included the Memorial Day barbecue, consisting of "huge racks of greasy meat" and "alcohol flowing like water", by Eben's account. Snooch deeply regretted his actions and cursed the brownies forever.
10. Which of the following webcomic characters did NOT guest star on "Two Lumps"?

Answer: T-Rex from "Dinosaur Comics"

Choo-Choo Bear was the first, who Eben was having a conversation with when Snooch, who didn't realize that the puddle on the floor was Choo-Choo, attempted to eat him. Snooch's effort was halted when Choo-Choo punched him the face.

When Snooch was unable to connect to the Internet, Eben suggested (with a knowing look on his face) that he call tech support. The next panel showed an exasperated Greg Flemming taking Snooch's call, groaning, "Oh, no, not you again!"

Jay appeared when the artist of "Two Lumps" was trying to relaunch (with little success) his previous comic strip "FLEM!". He was the exterminator Mom hired when the lumps' house had a particularly nasty cockroach problem.

None of the characters from "Dinosaur Comics" appeared in "Two Lumps", but the comic did parody "DC" by creating a six-panel comic with Eben and Snooch posed in the same way as T-Rex and Utahraptor and having a similar conversation. As yet, they've done this four different times.
