Daniel and the Lions' Den Trivia Quiz

Daniel was one of three men the king put in charge of over 120 of his other leaders. Daniel oversaw their work and made sure everything ran smoothly in the kingdom. He also gave the king advice when he wanted it. On top of being a good worker, Daniel always gave God the credit for being with him and helping him.

He prayed to God every day. The king was so pleased with Daniel, he made plans to put him in charge of his entire kingdom! (Daniel 6:3)

The men tried to find something Daniel did wrong, but everything Daniel did was right. Daniel did his job very well and God helped him. They could find no corruption in him because he was honest. Finally these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God." (Daniel 6:4-5)

The leaders knew Daniel prayed three times a day. So they went to the king and asked him to make a new law. No one would be able to pray to anyone but the king for thirty days. They also made the law unchangeable according to the Meads and the Persians. King Darius thought everyone praying to him would be a great idea! So he signed the law, not knowing that he would put Daniel's life in danger. (Daniel 6:6-9)

When Daniel heard about the new law, he went to his window as he always did and prayed to God for help. He continued to thank God and pray three times a day like he always had, even though he knew this was very dangerous. Then the jealous leaders went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help. Daniel was in really big trouble! (Daniel 6:10-11)

The king wanted to help Daniel, but his leaders reminded him that the law could not be changed. So the king called for the guards and told them to throw Daniel into the lions' den. Before they closed the den, the king told Daniel, "May the God who you serve faithfully, rescue you." The guards put a stone over the den and the king signed it so nothing could be changed. (Daniel 6:10-17)

God sent an angel, who shut the lions' mouths. The lions did not eat or touch Daniel the entire night, because the angel kept Daniel safe. God knew that Daniel had done the right thing and protected him. (Daniel 6:21)

God had been merciful to Daniel because Daniel had done nothing wrong. He also blessed Daniel because Daniel had faithfully served the king and obeyed his leader. He told King Darius that God had rescued him from the lions, and the king was so happy he had Daniel taken out of the den immediately. No wound was found on Daniel, because he had trusted God. (Daniel 6:19-23)

The king was so mad, he had his guards find the jealous leaders, their wives, and their families. Then he had them thrown into the lions' den! The lions ate them before their bones ever touched the ground. (They were pretty hungry after a whole night without food.) (Daniel 6:24)

The king wrote a letter in every language to all the nations in his kingdom:
"I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever;

He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."

As for Daniel, he lived happily ever after under King Darius' reign and he continued to serve God faithfully. (Daniel 6:25-28)
