Portsmouth FC were champions of England in 1949 and 1950, and were promoted to the Premiership League in 2003.

Bosworth won the Butkus award for the top college linebacker in both 1985 and 1986. He was drafted by the Seahawks of the NFL in 1987 but was forced to retire with a shoulder injury after just three seasons.
