Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A very famous case of going in the wrong direction occurred when this pilot flew across the Atlantic from Brooklyn to Ireland when he was supposed to fly to Long Beach, California. He was nicknamed "Wrong Way" because of this. Who was he?

Answer: Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan

Douglas Corrigan earned this dubious nickname in 1938 when he flew from Long Beach, California, to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York. He filed a flight plan to fly back to Long Beach, but flew to Ireland instead. He claimed it was due to a "navigation error" caused by clouds and a faulty compass. But many believe the flight was intentional as he had previously been denied permission to fly across the Atlantic to Ireland.

"Wrong Way" Feldman was a character in some "Gilligans Island" episodes. He was played by the highly underrated character actor Victor Buono. Despite Ginger's seductive powers of persuasion he still refused to help the castaways get off the island.

Wiley Post was the pilot of the plane that crashed and killed Will Rogers and him. As for Charles Hughes...he's just a fictional mashup of Charles Lindbergh and Howard Hughes, two storied aviators themselves!
2. What female singer had a crossover country and pop hit in 1960 with a song called "Right Or Wrong"?

Answer: Wanda Jackson

Wanda Jackson wrote "Right or Wrong" and took it to number nine on the Billboard Country Chart in 1960. It peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ronnie Dove covered the song in 1964. His version peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
3. You'll be heading in the right direction if you tell me the name of the actress who starred in the movie "She Done Him Wrong". Who was she?

Answer: Mae West

Mae West's male lead in "She Done Him Wrong" was a young Cary Grant. The 1933 movie is set in the 1890s as Mae portrayed a singer in a Bowery bar. Grant portrayed a Navy captain. Among the many classic Mae West lines in the movie are her most famous, but often misquoted, line: "Why don't you come up some time and see me?" Most Mae West impersonators repeat the line as "Why don't you come up and see me some time?"
4. In a 1964 NFL football game, a defensive end named Jim Marshall recovered a fumble and ran the ball into the San Francisco 49ers end zone. But it was a safety because Marshall played for the other team. What team was that?

Answer: Minnesota Vikings

Jim Marshall's wrong way run was named by Sports Illustrated writer John Rolfe as the most embarrassing moment in NFL history. The Vikings went on to win the game despite the wrong way run.
5. "If Loving You Is Wrong" is the title of a TV series on the OWN Network. Who is the creator, writer and director of this series?

Answer: Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry's "If Loving You Is Wrong" is his contribution to the genre of nighttime soap operas. It's about five couples who live on the same street and how their lives and relationships interact.
6. "If Loving You Is Wrong" is also the partial title of a song that was a hit for an R&B artist as well as a country artist who covered it. Who were these two singers?

Answer: Luther Ingram and Barbara Mandrell

Luther Ingram's version peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but topped the Nillboard soul chart from July 8th through July 29th, 1972. Barbara Mandrell's cover topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart on April 14, 1979.
7. In 2010, two professional wrestlers starred in a movie titled "Wrong Side of Town". Who were they?

Answer: Rob Van Dam and Dave Batista

"Wrong Side of Town" was a 2010 movie that was released direct to DVD. Rob Van Dam played an ex-Navy SEAL whose daughter was kidnapped for revenge as a result of a fatal nightclub fight. Batista plays another ex-Navy SEAL who is enlisted to help Van Dam's character.
8. What dark-haired beauty had her first top ten country hit with a song called "Wrong Road Again"?

Answer: Crystal Gayle

Born Brenda Gail Webb, Crystal is the sister of country music legend Loretta Lynn. It was the first single from her debut album "Crystal Gayle".
9. What late night talk show host used to do a regular routine that always involved telling his sidekick, "You are wrong (blank) breath?" The word in the blank always had something to do with the topic of the skit.

Answer: Johnny Carson

The "sidekick" in question was, of course, Ed McMahon although Doc Severinsen also participated sometimes when he filled in for Ed. The gist of the routine was that Johnny would share some article or list that he found and McMahon would build on that, saying that the article had "EVERYTHING you'd ever want to know" about the subject. Johnny would then reply with his "You are wrong..." statement.

He would then read more items on the subject, cleverly written by him and his comedy writers.
10. Allan Sherman was noted for his parodies of pop, folk and even classical songs. One of his cleverest ones was "You Went The Wrong Way Old King Louie". What was the title of the original song Allan parodied?

Answer: You Came A Long Way From St. Louis

"You Came A long Way From St. Louis" was one of many pop standards co-written by lyricist Bob Russell. Allan Sherman's parody was a track on Sherman's third album "My Son The Nut".
